Abstract

Objective: Conceptual change is a research trend that continues to develop with various innovations being carried out. The research aims to conduct a literature study on conceptual change and how it contributes to science education. Method: The data was collected by searching for literature sources for articles using specific criteria. Ten articles were synthesized in more depth to answer questions from the research conducted. Result: The results of this research state that methodology and assessment tools influence the form and objectives of research data to be achieved both qualitatively and quantitatively. Apart from that, the concepts in science education are more focused on the physics concepts contained in it. In addition, the findings from these ten articles have a positive impact on science education, especially on material rich in concepts. Novelty: In this way, in making changes to students' conceptions, it is necessary to carry out preliminary studies related to the profile of students and the sample group that you want to research so that it can become a reference for the direction of the research you want to complete.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve knowledge, perceptions, and behaviors of the Indonesian diaspora at the Sungai Mulia Learning Studio (SBSM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, regarding the use of traditional spices for health. The program involved counseling, demonstrations, and completion of an evaluation questionnaire using a Likert scale and open-ended questions. Twenty-three participants took part in the activities and evaluations. The results showed high levels of knowledge and positive perceptions, especially in participants’ belief in the health benefits of traditional spices and their understanding of the functions of basic spices such as ginger and turmeric, commonly used as traditional medicines. Although some participants still chose modern medicine as their main option, they demonstrated a positive attitude toward herbal remedies. Behavioral analysis indicated a strong tendency to prepare, consume, and seek information about spices after attending the program. Qualitative findings supported these results; most participants stated that the activities were beneficial, broadened their insight, and encouraged habit changes toward greater use of herbal medicine. All participants also expressed willingness to join follow-up programs. Overall, this program effectively improved spice-based health literacy and has the potential to be scaled up through more intensive practical sessions and provision of guidance materials.

Abstract

The low level of students' critical thinking and argumentation skills has attracted attention. This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' critical thinking skills by implementing argumentation-based assessment as an innovative learning strategy. The method used is a quantitative descriptive study involving 28 grade XI MIPA students, using essay tests and questionnaires as data collection instruments. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially through N-gain calculations and paired t-tests to measure the improvement of critical thinking skills. The results showed an increase in critical thinking skills from the poor and sufficient categories in the pre-test stage to good and very good categories in the post-test stage, with an average N-gain of 55% which is included in the moderate category and a paired t-test significance value <0.05 which indicates a significant difference. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of argumentation-based assessment in developing critical thinking skills while contributing to the development of relevant contextual learning strategies to improve scientific literacy and meet the demands of 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

Misconceptions about the concept of straight motion are still widely found in physics learning and can hinder students' overall understanding. This research aims to develop a five-tier diagnostic test instrument to identify student misconceptions more deeply. The method of this research is development research (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) model. The instrument was validated by experts with a feasibility result of 91% and empirically tested with a reliability of 0.756. The instrument was then applied to 35 high school grade XI students. The results showed that 8% of students scientific conception, 9% almost scientific conception, 31% lack of knowledge (LK), 44% misconception (MSC) and 8% not understand (NU). Students' misconceptions were dominated by the concept of average speed and acceleration with the largest causative factor being preconception of 33%. This study recommends that follow-up studies not only identify misconceptions and causes from students but also need to identify causes as a basis for designing appropriate learning strategies

Abstract

Abstract

Guidance and counseling constitute a professional service with a broad scope of targets and implementation, extending beyond school settings to various contexts outside formal education. This study aims to examine the scope of targets and the implementation of guidance and counseling services both in schools and outside schools through a conceptual and literature-based analysis. In school settings, guidance and counseling services are directed toward students and systematically implemented through personal, social, academic, and career guidance integrated into the educational system. Outside schools, counseling services are carried out in family, community, social, and religious institutions, emphasizing flexible and context-sensitive approaches that respond to diverse individual needs. The findings indicate that effective implementation of guidance and counseling is strongly influenced by the professionalism of counselors, adequate management of services, and collaboration among stakeholders. The integration of school-based and community-based counseling services strengthens the role of guidance and counseling as a lifelong support system that promotes personal development, social adjustment, and psychological well-being. Therefore, comprehensive and adaptive counseling practices are essential to address the complex challenges faced by individuals in various life settings.
