Abstract

Banyumas folklore is a cultural heritage which contains the values, norms and understanding of the local community. However, the role of women in folklore is often trapped in gender stereotypes and subordination which limit their potential. Through the use of feminist theory and a critical approach, this article discusses the importance of criticizing the representation of women in Banyumas folklore and how literary education can be a medium to build awareness of gender equality. This article has two objectives: (1) to examine the role of women in Banyumas folklore and (2) how their representation can be reconstructed in literary education with gender perspective. A qualitative approach was carried out with the artifacts of the Banyumas folklore which becomes the important data in this study. This article has two important points. First, exploring the role of women in Banyumas folklore involving women characters and identifying their depictions. This role can be seen from a domestic and public perspective which has implications for the active and passive roles of women figures. Second, reconstructing the role of women in Banyumas folklore to make it more inclusive and promote gender equality. There are four reconstruction strategies: (1) strengthening the role of women characters, (2) changing the central point of perspective of women characters, (3) changing gender stereotypes in the substance of the story, and (4) using gender-inclusive language. In addition, this research also contributes to the construction of a gender perspective literary education strategy that can expand the role and contribution of women in Banyumas folklore.

Abstract

This study highlights the importance of improving writing skills among elementary school students, particularly considering the persistent challenges many students face in generating ideas and constructing coherent, logical narratives. The primary focus of this research is to examine the role of visual media as a bridge between visual forms and verbal expression in the context of writing instruction. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with an exploratory case study approach, the study involved two teachers and fifth-grade students from SKH 2 KTG and SKH 45 GMK in Central Kalimantan. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of students' written work. Findings indicate that visual media significantly supports students' cognitive processes, especially in developing ideas, organizing narrative structures sequentially, and reducing affective barriers that often hinder writing. Images were found to serve not only as a stimulus for creativity but also as a tool that connects students’ lived experiences with the narratives they produce. For further development, future research is recommended to explore the cognitive processes involved in transforming visual stimuli into verbal expression and to examine the effectiveness of more dynamic visual media—such as videos or animations—in enhancing students' writing skills. Such strategies are believed to broaden the horizon of understanding regarding adaptive, inclusive, and contextually relevant multimodal learning in contemporary education.

Abstract

The goal of learning literature is to enhance students' language skills and broaden their understanding of literary texts. This includes improving reading comprehension, expanding vocabulary, and developing speaking and writing abilities, which are essential for effective language communication. This study is based on creating a literary learning model that promotes student creativity and self-evaluation as a more engaging way to appreciate literature. With the CIPP evaluation method that emphasizes the process and product components, it is necessary to evaluate literature education by creating a learning model that relates to a comprehensive understanding of learning plans and their effectiveness. The research was conducted at Unsri, Unanti, and UPGRIP. Data for this study was gathered using document review techniques, which were then analyzed using descriptive analysis methods. The study discovered that the method of teaching appreciative literature varies. The items are also varied. The goal of the curriculum—that students learn to appreciate, express, and produce literature—has, however, been mostly accomplished by literary appreciation education. The context variables in this scenario have a greater influence on the process than the produced input. The context here refers to the students' academic success, their good conduct, and their genuine interest in literature. Furthermore, the context also refers to experienced instructors and individuals who take the learning process seriously in order to accomplish their goals. The research indicates that the assessment of literature instruction in terms of both its process and outcomes falls under the "good" category.
