Abstract

This paper presents a closed-loop fast charging system for lithium-ion batteries based on the Constant-CurrentConstant-Voltage (CCCV) method enhanced with a ProportionalIntegralDerivative (PID) controller. The proposed system dynamically regulates the charging parameters by using real-time feedback from voltage and current sensors, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the charging and ensuring battery safety. Experimental results demonstrate that the PID-controlled method maintains a higher current during the initial bulk charging phase, significantly reduces total charging time, and avoids harmful voltage overshoot. Compared to conventional CCCV charging, the system achieves more stable voltage regulation and gradual current tapering, effectively minimizing thermal stress and preventing overcharging. A comparative analysis shows that the PID approach outperforms traditional methods in terms of energy efficiency, thermal management, and operational safety. The system architecture is suitable for integration into Battery Management Systems (BMS) of electric vehicles, portable electronics, and renewable energy storage. This research not only validates the practicality of using PID in fast charging applications but also lays the foundation for future enhancements using intelligent control strategies and adaptive learning algorithms. The findings suggest that PID-controlled charging systems offer a promising solution to the challenges of rapid, reliable, and safe energy replenishment in modern battery-powered technologies.

Abstract

The global energy crisis is a complex phenomenon involving an imbalance between increasingly limited energy supplies and ever-rising demand, driven by geopolitical dynamics, shifts in the energy market, and the challenges of transitioning to renewable energy sources. In a country as vast as Indonesia, the potential for developing renewable energy such as solar, hydro, wind, and geothermal energy is significant. This potential presents an opportunity for Indonesia’s resilience in the national energy sector. Utilizing solar energy through solar panels requires an optimized system to maximize the generated electrical power. This research aims to design an IoT-integrated single-axis solar tracking system using an ESP32 microcontroller to enhance the capacity of solar panels. The research methodology includes designing an algorithm to control the rotation angle of the solar tracker using an LDR sensor to determine the intensity of the sun’s electromagnetic waves and to drive the servo motor so that the panel is perpendicular to the sunlight. Solar panel temperature monitoring is performed using a MAX6675 sensor. For real-time current and voltage measurements, an INA219 sensor is used. The results of the solar panel data, processed adaptively by a control algorithm based on sensor data, are displayed on the LCD screen and transmitted to the Blynk IoT platform. The research findings indicate that the maximum power capacity recorded on the Blynk monitoring app was 1.75 watts at 12:00 PM, when solar intensity was at its peak. After 12:00 PM, power generation began to decline in tandem with the decrease in sunlight intensity in the afternoon. The data on power generation from this single-axis solar tracking system indicates that the use of this algorithm is capable of increasing the power absorbed by the solar panels and optimizing the use of solar energy.

Abstract

Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are becoming integral to applications ranging from industrial automation to urban mobility. A core challenge in deploying AMRs effectively is the path planning problem determining an optimal and collision-free path from a start to a goal location within a given environment. This paper proposes a novel method, Dhouib-Matrix-SPP (DM-SPP), that enhances path planning efficiency and adaptability for AMRs operating in different statistical environment. Basically, DM-SPP is developed to unravel the shortest path in a graph and based on columns-rows structure with polynomial computational time. Here, the DM-SPP method is adapted to plan the shortest feasible path between two positions while avoiding obstacles. In order to prove the validity of the proposed DM-SPP method, it is applied to different environments and compared to different case studies taken from the literature. The simulation results show that the DM-SPP method was able to find, with a significantly lower number of iterations, the optimal solutions in comparison with other results obtained by the genetic algorithm (GA) method. DM-SPP presents an overall average improvement in computation time of (37882.55%) compared to the GA, which can reduce search and execution time.

Abstract

In 2023, crime cases in Indonesia reached 105,133. Cases of theft with aggravation dominate the majority of cases. Everyone is concerned about safety, but doors are typically opened and closed using physical keys. This is vulnerable to being tampered with with fake keys, which can lead to house break-ins and theft. In this research, we propose a fingerprint-based wireless door lock design using Arduino and a smartphone. We offer this solution as a preventive measure to reduce the high rate of theft in homes or other buildings. The devices used are Arduino UNO R3, fingerprint sensor, HC-05 Bluetooth module, buzzer, and door lock solenoid. The results of the fingerprint-based wireless door lock using Arduino and a smartphone can function well, with an average response time of 1.20 seconds. Furthermore, testing the HC-05 Bluetooth when sending signals to a smartphone shows that it can read data accurately with an average response time of 1.54 seconds.
