Abstract

This paper introduces an innovative approach to design an extremely compact circular dual-band antenna suitable for 28/38 GHz 5G mmWave communications. Leveraging artificial neural network (ANN) and specially, multilayer perceptron (MLP) architecture, the suggested antenna’s dimensions, which allow it to resonate across both frequencies, are predicted. The proposed circular patch antenna, featuring strategically placed rectangular and circular slots in the patch and the ground plane, attains a remarkable frequency range of 3 and 2 GHz for the initial resonant frequency of 28 GHz and the subsequent resonant frequency of 38 GHz bands, respectively. With maximal gains of 4.5 and 7 dB at the corresponding resonance frequency, respectively, the antenna also exhibits high efficiency. Remarkably, the dimensions of the individual antenna element are compact, measuring 4×6×0.8 mm3, showcasing a notable decrease in physical footprint. Furthermore, the single antenna seamlessly transforms into a 4×4 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna occupying a total volume of 16×16×0.8 mm3, showcasing superior isolation and good diversity performance. This research not only contributes significantly to advancing miniaturized dual-band antennas tailored for 5G mmWave applications but also underscores the effectiveness of ANN, particularly MLP architecture, in optimizing antenna designs. The proposed antenna, with its small form factor, stands out as a promising solution for new generation 5G communication systems.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a method for calculating the DC source amplitude in an extended multilevel inverter (MLI) structure so that the maximum number of levels and the output voltage waveform are as close as possible to the sinusoidal wave with minimum total harmonic distortion (THD). For the developed structure, three algorithms are suggested to determine the amounts of DC voltage resources. The first important point about choosing the right amounts for the DC resources is that the number of levels should be as large as possible, and the second important point is that the intervals between the levels should be the same throughout the waveform. By observing these two points, the output voltage waveform can be as near as possible to the sinusoidal wave that we want. In this study, we used iteration-based methods to find suitable values for DC sources. Simulation results are offered to confirm the capability of the extended multilevel converter. After we solved the problem through calculation and analysis, a code was written in MATLAB with the aim that this time the code will tell us for what values of DC sources we will have the largest number of levels and as we expected, the output of the MATLAB code confirmed the correctness of the calculations.

Abstract

Nowadays, millimeter-wave frequencies present a catchy solution to securing the colossal data rate needed for 5G communications. Accordingly, this research deals with the conception of a novel orthogonal 2×2 multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) antenna design operating in the millimeter wave spectrum with quite small dimensions of 11×6×0.8 mm3. The single antenna element consists of a trapezoidal microstrip patch antenna built on the Rogers RT5880 laminate with a permittivity of 2.2 and tangent loss of 0.0009. A trapezoidal-slot ground plane is used to support the structure. The antenna resonates at 28 GHz with a large bandwidth of 4 GHz from 26 to 30 GHz, a good gain of up to 5 dB, and a high radiation efficiency of 99%. A strong isolation is achieved that surpasses 26 dB. Besides, a high diversity performance is achieved where the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is lower than 0.001, the diversity gain (DG) is greater than 10 dB, and the channel capacity loss (CCL) is no longer than 0.4 bit/s/Hz. The achieved outcomes prove the robustness of the suggested MIMO antenna and qualify it to be a strong candidate for 5G wireless devices.

Abstract

Biomedical antennas play a crucial role in implantable medical telemetry, improving patient monitoring and overall well-being. This study presents a compact antenna designed for a lead-free pacemaker, with dimensions of 3.3×4×0.5 mm³. Miniaturization required open cuts in the ground plane and radiating patch, as well as a localized resistance element. The antenna features an exceptional bandwidth of 1646.8 MHz (1.0602-2.7070) GHz, guaranteeing constant performance in the human body. It covers the industrial, scientific and medical bands (ISM, 2.4-2.48 GHz) and ultra-high frequencies (UHF, 0.3-13 GHz). Simulation in a phantom produced a gain of -19.78 dBi at 2.45 GHz and -34.44 dBi at 1.2 GHz. Safety was confirmed by a specific absorption rate (SAR) study using a cardiac model. The antenna’s low SAR (10 g-Avg) enabled maximum input powers to be established: 20.2 mW at 1.2 GHz and 21.23 mW at 2.45 GHz. Comparative simulations using high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) and computer simulation technology (CST) highlighted the antenna’s superiority over recent systems, demonstrating its effectiveness in the human heart. This antenna represents an advanced solution for improving patient care. Consequently, this antenna emerges as an advanced solution for addressing infectious diseases and cardiovascular conditions in the realm of medical advancements.

Abstract

The internet of things (IoT) is rapidly expanding and improving operations in a wide range of real-world applications, from consumer IoT and enterprise IoT to manufacturing and industrial IoT (IIoT). Consumer markets, wearable devices, healthcare, smart buildings, agriculture, and smart cities are just a few examples. This paper discusses the current state of the IoT ecosystem, its primary applications and benefits, important architectural stages, some of the problems and challenges it faces, and its future. This paper explains how an appropriate IoT architecture that saves data, analyzes it, and recommends corrective action improves the process’s ground reality. The IoT system architecture is divided into three layers: device, gateway, and platform. This then cascades into the four stages of the IoT architectural layout: sensors and actuators; gateways and data acquisition systems; edge IT data processing; and datacenter and cloud, which use high-end apps to collect data, evaluate it, process it, and provide remedial solutions. This elegant combination provides excellent value in automatic action. In the future, IoT will continue to serve as the foundation for many technologies. Machine learning will become more popular in the coming years as IoT networks take center stage in a variety of industries.

Abstract

Cloud computing (CC) is a service that allows both data storage and data accessibility on the cloud through any on-demand service and application, without incurring the costs of local data storage and upkeep expenses. On the other hand, CC providers have to make sure good security among the consumers to inspire them to use the resources on the cloud as if it were their local storage, without bothering about the data quality. Therefore, data checking in the cloud gains much importance mostly at the demand of the customers for the data integrity that a third-party auditor (TPA) can be introduced to verify the data soundness. A present investigation introduced a secure and efficient auditing solution for cloud data under the Boneh-Lynn-Shacham (BLS) public identities to keep the information secure and at the same time perform auditing securely. this study restructured the public key equation with the signature equation in our proposed system so that there is an increment in complexity while quality execution speed is maintained, and the proposed system allows dynamic data processing in terms of insert, delete and modification. From the analysis of the system, which includes security and performance, the proposed system is very effective and safe.

Abstract

The high inertia ceiling suspended systems with multiple degrees of freedom uses power assist technologies to reduce operator’s burden to operate the machine. Such systems are popularly used in medical diagnostic systems, construction machines, material handling, automotive, and aerospace assembly lines. These systems commonly use multi-axis force-torque (FT) sensor to sense the forces applied by user on rotatable control handle. These sensed forces are utilized by power assist algorithm to drive system in required direction with the help of electrical motor drives. The rotatable control handle used to control the machine poses a significant obstacle for maintaining alignment between FT sensor co-ordinate frame and the system’s base frame. This research paper focuses on the development of homogeneous transformation matrix to compensate for any change in FT sensor orientation caused by rotation of control handle. The homogeneous transformation matrix developed in this research paper, transforms the force and torque values measured by FT sensor with respect to system base frame. This adaptive technique provided seamless control of the power assist ceiling suspended system from different directions during handling and movement. This helped to enhance control and flexibility of power assist ceiling suspended system.

Abstract

Miniaturization in the telecommunications field is deemed a current challenge and a critical demand in order to improve communication quality between the transmitter and the receiver while avoiding clutter issues. The main objective of this work is to design a miniature interdigital bandpass filter (IBF) using planar technology. The proposed bandpass filter is made up of three equidistant parallel-coupled lines carefully deposited on a small Rogers-5880 substrate possessing a full dimension of 10×10×1.6 mm3, a relative permittivity =2.2, and a loss tangen of 0.0009. The proposed IBF has been designed and simulated using the HFSS software, which is a simulator that studies the electromagnetic behavior of radio frequency structures using cutting-edge finite element solvers. The reached outcomes present good electrical performance in terms of insertion loss , reflection coefficient , voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), and selectivity, making the proposed IBF suitable for integration in small electronic devices for C-band applications (4 GHz to 8 GHz).

Abstract

Energy consumption by sector in Malaysia is rising significantly, especially for residential and commercial sectors, and is expected to continue to increase in the upcoming years. The existing power generated from a proton-exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) system may be insufficient to sustain peak load demands during peak periods in stationary residential applications. The presence of an ultra-capacitor (UC) bank would be beneficial as a support as it can supply a large burst of power. The integration of PEMFC and UC has the potential to provide an effective way to supply power demands, has better energy efficiency, and is also economically friendly. In this research, we demonstrate a proposed combined PEMFC and UC bank that operates in parallel. A novel design methodology and dynamic model for both PEMFC and UC systems as energy sources have been developed for stand-alone residential applications. The simulation results are shown in Matlab Simulink. These results are based on mathematical and dynamic models of the system being shown.
