Abstract

This research aims at illustrating the implementation of Professional Learning Community (PLC) programs, which later will be used to be the basic data for the preparation of PLC program design that is applicable and easily implemented by the teachers. The low contribution and discontinuity of teachers in the PLC programs in primary schools have impacted on the lack of optimization of the PLC programs as a support for sustained improvement of teacher professionalism. This research employed a descriptive research design with a survey approach involving 52 primary school teachers in Sumerdang Regency. The research results revealed that even though the teachers’ understanding of the PLC program objectives was very high, the teachers’ understanding of the PLC program mechanism was still low. Thus, this resulted in the low level of the implementation of the PLC program in primary schools, both in programs and regulations. Therefore, further research is expected to produce the operational, structured, and applicable PLC programs in order to increase the teachers’ participation in implementing the PLC programs for improving teacher professionalism, and having a real impact on the improvement of the quality of learning in primary schools.

Abstract

The contextual approach is an approach that links the material taught to the real life situations of the student, with that matter the students can make the connection between the knowledge who he has with the student's daily life. Based on visual-spatial intelligence, in learning process, teacher more choose playing a color. Color games in learning make students not feel bored. The base of visual-spatial intelligence is applied in the contextual component of modeling and inquiry through the learning community. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of visual-spatial based visual contextual approach towards students' mathematical understanding on simple space building materials and their webs. This research was conducted at elementary school in Gegesik, SDN 2 Panunggul with SDN 2 Kedungdalem. Sampling is done using purposive sampling. The result of calculation from data processing obtained by value of correlation coefficient (R) 0,023 = 2,3%

Abstract

The success of a vocational school in achieving its goals is greatly determined by how innovative the school members, which include teachers as frontliners in educational quality, are.  Innovativeness does not emerge and develop in vacuum.  It is closely related to other factors such as personality and transformational leadership.  238 private vocational high school teachers in Bogor City were selected as sample in the present study, which implemented quantitative approach using survey method.Based on the findings, it was concluded that: (1) there was a positive correlation between personality and innovativeness, with coefficient of correlation (ry1) of 0.318  and coefficient of determination (ry12) of 10.14% through regression equation Ŷ = 47.669 + 0.597X1,  (2)  there was a positive correlation between transformational leadership and innovativeness, with coefficient of correlation (ry2) of 0.261 and coefficient of determination (ry22) of 6.83%  through regression equation Ŷ = 84.113 + 0.207X2,and (3) there was a positive correlation between personality and transformational leadership variables, collectively, and innovativeness variable, with coefficient of correlation (ry12) of 0.379  and coefficient of determination (ry122) of 14.37% through regression equation Ŷ = 33.492 + 0.165X1 + 0.524X2.  Teachers’ innovativeness can be improved through personality development.  The roles of headmasters’ transformational leadership will modify teachers’ behavior, allowing the latter to work more than what is expected and to improve their performance.  It is a form of teachers’ empowerment to develop skills and trusts, and to create a better school culture that encourage innovativeness and creativity development.  In other words, personality and transformational leadership development can improve teachers’ innovativeness.

Abstract

Educators and education staff are primary aspects of education that contribute to school quality improvement.  High-quality educators and education staff will lead to high-quality school.  However, not all educators and education staff have good quality, due to low-quality management.  With this in mind, this study aims to discover the implementation of educators and education staff management in a primary school in West Java, Indonesia.  It is found that (1) the ideal ratio of educators and staff has not been achieved, (2) temporary educators are far from being prosperous, in terms of monetary compensation, and (3) training programs for educators and education staff are very limited.  These finding indicate that the planning and development process for educators and education staff require an in-depth analysis.

Abstract

Several previous research have described transformational leadership as successful leadership that led higher education to implement changes for the better. However, a more comprehensive survey on the implementation of transformational leadership in higher education has not been conducted. This research aims at observing a transformational leadership style with the model 4I, namely idealized influence, intellectual stimulation, individual consideration, and inspirational motivation, which is applied to higher education comprehensively. A survey method with questionnaires taken from lecturers working at higher education in Indonesia was used in this research. The findings revealed that attention given to individuals and reducing penalty towards any mistakes by subordinates must be given more attention so that the application of complete combination between one dimension and other dimensions and each indicator of transformational leadership must be carried out. This research is expected to have implications for the effectiveness of higher education leadership, and be used as a reference by higher education leaders in choosing a leadership style.

Abstract
