Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which spreads mainly through the air, especially attacking the lungs but can infect any organ, including the brain, kidneys, bones, and lymph nodes. One factor contributing to non-compliance in TB patients is irregular treatment. If treatment is not consistent, it can lead to drug-resistant germs, prolonging treatment and reducing success. Objective: The aim of this study was to improve medication compliance through evidence-based nurturing practices. Method: This study employed two phases including a systematic review to determine the EBNP and the second phase was the implementation of the EBNP. We gathered the participant using total participant but stricly applied the inclusion and exlcusion criteria. Fifteen elderly aged 63±3.314 years in Karanganya, Sawah Besar, Jakarta Pusat were participated in this study. The data analysis using Jamovi aimed to assess the impact of counseling and medication supervision on medication compliance in elderly TB patients. Results: Surprisingly, there was no significant increase in compliance after the intervention (p-value of 0.134). However, the X2 continuity correction analysis revealed that counseling and supervision doubled medication adherence in the elderly. Conclusions: health counseling, consisting of 30-minute sessions from diagnosis to recovery, utilizing media such as posters, is highly recommended by health workers. This intervention aims to improve medication compliance and adherence to the recommended schedule effectively.

Abstract

Most elderly people with hypertension have poor sleep quality. Poor sleep quality in elderly people with hypertension can worsen their hypertension condition, causing an increased risk of heart disease, cognitive impairment, and a general reduction in quality of life. Benson relaxation therapy and progressive muscle relaxation can be an effective and safe alternative in managing sleep and activity in elderly people with hypertension. Both therapies do not involve the use of drugs and can be easily learned by seniors. This study aims to determine the effect of Benson relaxation therapy and progressive muscle relaxation on sleep quality in hypertensive elderly people. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a one group pretest posttest design. Data collection used the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The sample was determined using purposive sampling with a total of 35 respondents. The statistical results of the paired sample t-test showed a p value of 0.000 (p value < α 0.05) so it can be concluded that there is an influence of Benson relaxation therapy and progressive muscle relaxation on sleep quality in hypertensive elderly people. This study suggests integrating progressive muscle relaxation interventions combined with Benson therapy into community health programs by actively involving families.

Abstract

The elderly population is part of family members and community members who are increasing in number in line with the increase in life expectancy, the elderly are also one of the vulnerable groups that need serious treatment because naturally the elderly experience a decline both in terms of physical, biological and mental. One of the health disorders that can appear in the elderly is mental disorders. The mental disorder that often appears during this period is depression, the highest prevalence of depression in Indonesia is experienced by the population aged 75 years at 8.9%, 65-75 years at 0%, and 55-64 years at 6.5%, the purpose of this study is to look at the effect of mindfulness on reducing the rate of depression in the elderly. The Evidence Base Nursing (EBNP) practice method is carried out in Linggasari District, Ciamis Regency. The number of respondents was 33 respondents, in eight weeks the respondents were given intervention therapy in groups with a vulnerable time of 1-2 hours. Based on the results of the normality test using Saphiro Wilk and Kolmogorov showed that the data were normally distributed (p>significance value 0.05), so that the statistical test on the difference between pre-intervention and post-intervention was carried out using the Paired t-Test. The results of the statistical test can be explained that there is a significant difference between the screening results of the first depression level measurement and the second pre and post screening after mindfulness is carried out and a p-value of 0.000 (P<0.05) is obtained.

Abstract

One of the problems that often arise in the elderly who experience musculoskeletal system disorders is low back pain. Low back pain results in compressive pain in the lumbar, spasms of the back muscles, limited back movement and decreased back muscle strength. The management of low back pain can be done with complementary therapy that has no side effects and is non-pharmacological namely Acupressure which can reduce the scale of pain. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of Acupressure Therapy on Low Back Pain in the Elderly. This research method uses a quasi experiment pre-post test with control group design. The sampling technique used a total population with a sample of 22 respondents (11 intervention group and 11 control group). The instrument uses a questionnaire. Statistical tests use the General Linear Model test. The results of the statistical test obtained a value of p 0.001 < 0.005, so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the intervention group and the control group for low back pain in the elderly in Korobono Village. The suggestions in this study are as inputs so that acupressure therapy can be developed and can be implemented as a program in services to the elderly.
