Abstract

Application of Sociodrama Techniques Based on Tabe Culture to Improve Polite Character. This study aims to describe the character of students' politeness, the implementation of group guidance services with sociodrama techniques based on tabe culture , and the effect of its application on improving politeness. Tabe culture is a form of politeness typical of the Bugis-Makassar community which is manifested through the expression "tabe" and hand gestures as a sign of respect, permission, and appreciation, which contains the values of sipakatau, sipakalebbi , and sipakainge . The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest type . The sample consisted of 18 students selected through purposive sampling , 9 students each in the experimental and control groups. Data were obtained through questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent sample t-test . The results showed that before the treatment, students were in the medium and low categories, characterized by behaviors such as mocking, indifference, and lack of respect for teachers and friends. The t-test showed a significance of 0.001 (<0.05), so that sociodrama based on tabe culture had a significant effect in improving students' respectful attitudes, polite language, and social behavior. Keywords: Character of good manners; Sociodrama Technique; Tabe Culture ; Group Guidance.

Abstract

This study explores self-injury behavior among students at SMPN 8 Makassar by focusing on: (1) the description of self-injury behavior exhibited by subject H, (2) factors contributing to the behavior, and (3) intervention efforts using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach. A qualitative method with a clinical case study design was employed. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis. The findings show that prior to counseling, subject H displayed repetitive self-injury as a maladaptive response to unexpressed emotional distress, primarily related to family conflict, feelings of failure, and persistent negative thoughts. Following the counseling intervention, there was a noticeable reduction in the frequency and intensity of self-injury behavior, decreased urges during negative emotional states, and improved ability to express emotions verbally. Contributing factors included internal aspects such as cognitive distortions, irrational beliefs, and negative thinking patterns, as well as external factors like limited emotional support from the family and an unstable home environment. The intervention was conducted through seven CBT counseling sessions emphasizing cognitive restructuring, including identifying automatic thoughts, challenging irrational beliefs, developing adaptive coping thoughts, and establishing a safety plan. Overall, the intervention contributed to more rational thinking, better emotional regulation, and reduced maladaptive coping behaviors.

Abstract

Zakat is one of the pillars of Islam. It is obligatory for Muslims who are able to pay a portion of their wealth in accordance with Islamic law. It purifies wealth and souls, and distributes it to those entitled to it (mustahik). Tunggul Bute Village, home to extensive coffee plantations, has a significant portion of the population's income from agricultural products. However, farmers lack understanding of agricultural zakat, and they are still lacking in their practice. This study aims to determine coffee farmers' understanding of paying zakat on agricultural produce. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data sources include primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through observation and interviews with eleven informants, while secondary data were obtained through a literature review of scientific journals and books. Data collection techniques used in this study included observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that coffee farmers' understanding of zakat on coffee crops is still limited. Factors influencing their understanding include education, social environment, and habits. This limited understanding results in zakat practices not fully complying with applicable regulations. Although farmers continue to pay zakat, their practice is based more on habit than on a proper understanding of zakat regulations.

Abstract

Parents and teachers are the most prominent figures influencing learners’ religious character as parents are the first teachers for children since childhood. Moreover, teachers play an essential role in developing learners’ character for they dominantly engage with children during their educational phase. Thus, cooperation between these two figures is highly required for religious character formation in living their future phase. This research aims to find an appropriate platform on how to model the cooperation between parents and teachers to educate the religious character. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach in four selected elementary schools in one of the Indonesian cities. The source of data was taken using in-depth interviews with fifteen informants (six parents, six teachers, and three students) selected using the purposive sampling technique. In addition, the research team also conducted direct observation at the research location to reinforce the interviews. All interview and observation data were thematically analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model. The research findings found eight models of cooperation carried out by parents and teachers in educating the religious character of students, namely, getting used to reading prayers every time they start activities, instilling the importance of honesty, upholding diversity and respect for others, controlling worship activities with a daily worship book, setting a disciplined learning schedule, getting used to reading the Quran, paying attention to children's socialization in the home and school environment, creating an Islamic environment at home and school. This finding can be used as an example for parents and teachers in raising students with a religious character.
