Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between parental educational background, self-efficacy, and children's reading habits in the digital era. Using a correlational quantitative research method, the study involved 408 parents in West Jawa with children aged 4–8 years. The sampling technique used was multistage random sampling. Data were collected through an online Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using ordinal logistic regression. The findings indicate that parental self-efficacy significantly influences children's reading habits (B = 0.247; p < 0.001), while parental educational background does not have a direct significant effect (p > 0.05). The model's Nagelkerke R² value of 0.494 suggests that 49.4% of the variance in children's reading habits can be explained by parental self-efficacy and educational background. These results highlight the importance of parental confidence in supporting children's literacy, which can be enhanced through family literacy intervention programs. Thus, this study contributes new insights into the psychological and environmental factors affecting children's reading habits.

Abstract

This study evaluated the effectiveness of BukuAku, an interactive digital library application, in enhancing elementary school students’ reading literacy through the Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum (RWAC) approach. As digital learning tools become increasingly integral in early education, this study aimed to assess the impact of BukuAku on students’ reading comprehension using a quantitative research design. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was implemented involving 30 third-grade students over a four-month intervention period (January–April 2025). Two main instruments were employed in this study. The first instrument was the Lumina Testing Service (LTS), a Lexile-based quantitative reading assessment tool that is widely used internationally and supported by documented validity and reliability. The second was BukuAku, a digital library that provided leveled digital texts, audio narration, and quizzes to support the learning process. Reading proficiency was measured using the LTS before and after the intervention. Statistical analysis using a paired samples t-test revealed a significant increase in students’ Lexile scores, from a mean of 700.17 (SD = 26.375) in the pretest to 832.33 (SD = 39.277) in the posttest. These results demonstrate a substantial improvement in reading comprehension following the intervention. The findings support the efficacy of integrating digital literacy tools with cross-curricular reading and writing approaches to strengthen reading comprehension in early grades. This study contributes to the empirical literature on educational technology integration and highlights the value of structured, interactive literacy interventions. Future research is recommended to explore long-term impacts and broader implementation across diverse educational context.

Abstract

Design and Development of a Micro-Curriculum for Environmental Character Education in Early Childhood Education. Objective: This study aims to design a micro curriculum for environmental character education at the early childhood education (ECE) level that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The curriculum is designed to instill environmental awareness values in children from an early age, laying a foundation for preparing future generations. Methods: The research adopts the Design and Development (D&D) method. A needs analysis was conducted using Likert-scale questionnaires administered to 18 principals and 85 teachers from public kindergartens in Banten Province. The goal was to identify the actual conditions of environmental character education implementation and determine the essential competencies required for designing the micro curriculum. Findings: The analysis results showed no significant differences between the factual conditions in highland and lowland areas. Additionally, quantitative analysis using SPSS indicated that teachers' perceptions regarding the necessary competencies were relatively homogeneous. Based on these findings, three main topics were selected as core content for the curriculum: sustainable lifestyle, animals, and plants. The curriculum content was designed, including learning objectives, instructional materials, teaching media, learning strategies, and assessment methods. The developed micro curriculum for environmental character education was subsequently evaluated by experts in early childhood education, kindergarten principals, and kindergarten teachers to assess its feasibility. The validation results demonstrated that the curriculum was considered feasible and appropriate for implementation. Conclusion: The study concludes that public kindergartens in Banten Province require a systematic and structured curriculum for environmental character education. Moreover, the designed curriculum aligns well with the identified competency needs and has been validated as feasible based on expert and practitioner evaluations in the field of early childhood education. Keywords: curriculum development, character education, environmental awareness, early childhood education.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship content learning in vocational education plays a strategic role in addressing the persistent issue of low student well-being in Indonesia. Well-being represents a multidimensional construct that includes psychological resilience, social integration, and financial independence, all of which are essential for preparing students to enter the labor market with confidence. The study employed a qualitative approach with a prospective case study design conducted in the Tourism Department of SMKN 1 Pacet, Cianjur, during September 2024. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of entrepreneurial learning activities. Findings demonstrated that entrepreneurship content learning strengthened psychological well-being by increasing self-confidence, motivation, and adaptability. Social well-being was enhanced through improved collaboration, empathy, and communication skills, while financial well-being developed through students’ ability to apply entrepreneurial knowledge in generating income. The conclusion confirms that entrepreneurship content learning contributes significantly to advancing vocational education by simultaneously fostering employability skills and promoting comprehensive student well-being. The contribution of the study lies in providing empirical evidence that entrepreneurship-oriented curricula support not only professional competence but also sustainable educational development.

Abstract

This study focuses on creating a collaborative-participatory digital learning design utilizing Google Workspace to enhance student interaction, collaboration, and participation in higher education. The research adopts the Design-Based Research (DBR) methodology, which includes three stages: analysis and exploration, design and construction, and evaluation and reflection. The study involved 50 lecturers from five universities, 25 students, two curriculum experts, and two educational technology experts. Data collection methods included questionnaires, focus group discussions (FGDs), and design trials. The resulting learning design incorporates Google Workspace features such as Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Forms, Google Meet, and Google Classroom to support learning objectives, content, strategies, and assessments. The findings reveal that this design significantly improves student engagement, fosters deeper collaboration, and facilitates more objective and efficient assessments. This research underscores the potential of optimizing Google Workspace to enhance the quality of learning and ensure that students’ skills are relevant to the evolving demands of the workforce and industry. The proposed design offers a scalable and practical model for advancing digital education in universities.
