Abstract

This study aims to formulate learning objectives, strategies in achieving memorization targets, how to carry out the Al-Qur'an tahfiz learning curriculum. The research method used is a qualitative approach by directly analyzing the daily activities of teachers and participants through various processes including muayasyah, research and development, interview, library, and documentation. This research was conducted in five Islamic boarding schools in West Java, Indonesia. The results of the research show that teachers are at the forefront of curriculum development, that every teacher must be smart in capturing every situation that develops. The results of research on Islamic boarding schools show that by giving teachers the widest possible authority to carry out the curriculum and develop it according to situations and conditions in the field, it has succeeded in facilitating students to achieve memorization targets according to their respective abilities. That the materials and learning strategies that have been developed can be used as comparisons in order to improve teacher quality. From this study it can be concluded that in the work of compiling the curriculum it is not enough to only use experts but also must involve experienced teachers as a team and contributors of ideas from the field.

The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The participants involved in this study were school principals, deputy principals, teachers of Islamic religious education and PKN, guidance and counseling teachers, homeroom teachers, and students from three junior high schools in Bandung. Data is collected through several techniques, namely interviews, observation and documentation. Data were analyzed using an interactive model from Miles & Huberman which includes the steps of: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research findings show that several aspects of the teacher's personality that can be role models in developing student character are the use of language, behavior, and personality. The values that can be learned from the teacher's example are honesty, responsibility, courtesy, tolerance, discipline, and caring. There are several factors that become inhibiting and supporting. Several supporting factors in developing student character include curriculum content standards, leadership, commitment, and togetherness. Factors that become obstacles to developing student character are the low level of parental concern, the apathy of teachers and students, and the use of funds that are not optimal.

Abstract

Being capable of media literacy is an important competence in the contemporary era characterized by widespread digitalization. Teachers play a vital role in integrating learning and imparting it in schools. However, due to the absence of media literacy training, their level of media literacy remains low. It necessitates a solution involving the creation of a training program by designing its curriculum beforehand. This study attempts to design a curriculum framework for media literacy training for teachers. The participants were junior high school teachers in West Java, with a total sample size of 381 teachers who used purposive sampling techniques. A design research method has been used to produce a prototype for research purposes. Research procedure refers to the three decisions that determine the design outcome, covering procedure design, problem analysis and solution design Data collected with questionnaires given to teachers and it has been analyzed using descriptive statistics with SPSS software 26. Results of this study provide a curriculum framework for media literacy training for junior high school teachers in West Java, including objectives, content, methods, and assessment. Its current training curriculum framework serves as a valuable reference point for enhancing the media literacy competence of teachers.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is a crucial component of literacy that significantly impacts students’ academic development across various subjects. However, conventional teaching methods often fail to accommodate the diverse cognitive strengths of learners, leading to disengagement and limited understanding. This study introduces a digital and intelligence-based instructional model designed to enhance reading comprehension among third-grade elementary students. The model integrates visual-spatial and linguistic-verbal intelligences with interactive digital modules to promote more engaging and effective learning. Using a Design and Development research approach, the model was systematically designed, validated by experts, and implemented in five elementary schools. Eight instructional sessions were conducted to examine the practical application and effectiveness of the approach. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, classroom observations, and teacher interviews; however, the sampling techniques used were not clarified. Statistical analysis using paired and independent t-tests revealed significant improvements in students' reading comprehension in the experimental group compared to the control group. Qualitative findings also showed increased student motivation and participation during learning activities. The results suggest that a digital instructional model grounded in learners’ cognitive profiles can substantially support literacy development at the primary level. Future studies are recommended to refine sampling procedures and extend the application across broader educational contexts.

Abstract

The logistics industry requires graduates who possess adaptive competencies and practical skills to respond effectively to dynamic industry demands, highlighting the importance of innovative and industry-oriented curriculum design. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a Logistics Management curriculum based on graduate competencies, with a particular focus on the application of learning strategies as a core component of the curriculum. A quantitative approach was employed using the fourth phase of Design and Development Research (DDR), which involved the experimental implementation of learning strategies in two logistics management classes following a needs analysis, competency identification, and curriculum design stages. The curriculum was developed based on five key components, competencies, learning objectives, content of materials, learning strategies, and evaluation. The results indicate that active learning approaches, including Project-based Learning (PjBL), Problem-based Learning (PBL), and Case Methods, positively support student engagement and competency development, students also reveal the need for more hands-on learning experiences, clearer instructional guidance, and stronger integration between theoretical knowledge and real-world logistics practices. This study contributes to innovation in logistics curriculum design by demonstrating how technology-enhanced active learning supported by digital learning platforms can function as enablers of industry-oriented education, strengthen university–business collaboration, and better prepare graduates for professional roles in the logistics sector.

Abstract

The high rate of open unemployment among vocational school graduates shows that their skills don't fully match industry needs, especially in the Industry 4.0 era, which demands an adaptive, digitally literate, and vocationally skilled workforce. This condition emphasizes the importance of teacher readiness and professionalism as the key to the successful implementation of link and match so that learning is relevant to the demands of the business and industrial world (DUDI). This study aims to analyze the readiness of vocational school teachers and the need for professional development in North Sumatra by comparing teachers in urban and rural areas. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with written interviews. Participants consisted of four productive teachers from schools in Medan City and six teachers from one rural school. The interview instrument explored understanding of link and match, pedagogical readiness, digital competence, vocational skills, collaboration with DUDI, obstacles, and training needs. Data were analyzed using Elo and Kyngäs content analysis. The results showed that urban teachers were more prepared in terms of implementation due to the support of facilities, technology, and access to industry training, while rural teachers were more prepared conceptually but were hampered by limited facilities and access to industry. Both had similar needs regarding vocational training, digital technology, and industry-based programs. The findings emphasized the need for context-based professional development to strengthen the role of teachers in preparing graduates who are relevant to industry needs.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning design utilizing the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework to enhance the self-regulated learning competence of fifth-grade students in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The background of this research is rooted in the low level of students’ learning independence, as reflected in their lack of initiative, planning, task execution, and responsibility throughout the learning process. The study employed a Design-Based Research (DBR) approach through four stages: problem identification, solution design, limited implementation, and reflection with design revision. Data were collected triangulatively through questionnaires, observations, written interviews, documentation, and student performance assessments. The developed learning design follows the principles of backward design, focusing on four main aspects of self-regulated learning: initiative, planning, independent task completion, and learning responsibility. The trial results revealed that UbD-based learning had a positive impact on nurturing student independence in affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects. Observation data indicated an increase in students’ active engagement and sense of responsibility, while the project-based mini-booklets and reflective journals demonstrated their ability to plan and complete tasks independently. The study concludes that the UbD learning design is effective in supporting the development of students' self-regulated learning competence in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This research offers practical contributions in designing contextual and character-oriented learning and reinforces the “Independent” dimension in the Pancasila Student Profile.
