Abstract

Difficulties in learning Shorof for students are frequently found but the innovation of learning media utilization in this subject is quite rare. The article analyzed about how effective the use of flashcards media on Shorof subjects to support the quality of learning for junior high school students. The research was conducted with experimental quantitative methods, and the research design was a true experiment. The experimental class and the control class were chosen randomly in order to that students' abilities were equal. The samples of learning outcomes were obtained from 15 students who were randomly selected from the experimental and control classes with a total sample of 30 students. In collecting data, the tests and documentation were used, whereas data analysis was carried out with SPSS 26 through the Mann-Whitney non-parametric test because the data were normally distributed and not homogeneous. From this research, it was concluded that there were differences in the learning outcomes of the experimental and control classes after the treatment, which the experimental class got higher score than the control class with an average score of 93.3327:62.0520, which means that there was a positive impact of using flashcards on student learning outcomes evidenced by the Mann Whitney test of 0.000 < 0.05. Based on the valid test results, it was suggested that Shorof flashcards can be used in various institutions as Shorof learning subject in general to increase the learning methods more creative and innovative.

Abstract

The teaching of Maharah al-Kalam (speaking skills) at the Islamic Institute of Hamzanwadi Nahdlatul Wathan, East Lombok, faces various issues related to language interference. These challenges arise when students struggle to express ideas and thoughts spontaneously in Arabic due to the influence of their mother tongue (Indonesian) and regional languages. This study aims to deeply examine the issues of language interference in teaching Maharah al-Kalam at the Islamic Institute of Hamzanwadi Nahdlatul Wathan, East Lombok. It seeks to identify the forms of language interference occurring and analyze the underlying factors. The research employs a field research method with a qualitative approach, involving direct observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and analysis of student speech transcripts. The study reveals the complexity of linguistic challenges faced by students in mastering Arabic speaking skills. Language interference was identified in three dimensions: phonology, syntax, and vocabulary, driven by limited exposure to Arabic, traditional teaching methods, and the dominance of the mother tongue. The impacts of interference include a decline in students’ confidence and reduced quality of Arabic communication. To address these issues, the research proposes comprehensive solutions, such as developing practical teaching methods, raising linguistic awareness, employing a contrastive approach, and implementing intensive training techniques like drilling and role-playing.

Abstract

Intercultural communication in the context of traditional Islamic education ideally prioritizes authentic and structured linguistic expression, with the multilingual proficiency of santri manifested in language practices with clear linguistic boundaries. However, observations at Darullughah Wadda'wah Islamic Boarding School indicate the existence of linguistic distortions characterized by the extensive and nonsystematic use of code-mixing, creating an epistemological gap in the language acquisition and linguistic identity construction of santri. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze the phenomenon of code-mixing in santri interactions, focusing on the classification, form, and function of code-mixing. The results identified the existence of outer code mixing in the form of Indonesian-Arabic and Arabic-Indonesian, as well as inner code mixing in the form of Indonesian-Javanese and Javanese-Indonesian. The forms of code mixing include the insertion of words, phrases, and expressions/idioms, with functions including accuracy of meaning, argumentative, communication efficiency, and building intimacy. The findings contribute to the development of sociolinguistic epistemology in the context of traditional Islamic education and provide an empirical foundation for methodological innovation in language learning in pesantren settings, particularly the development of a "translanguaging pedagogy" approach that optimizes multilingual practices as a productive learning resource.

Abstract

This research aims to understand strategies and techniques for teaching Arabic that a teacher can apply to learn Arabic using the language immersion method. Using this method, students can learn languages by interacting directly with the language environment in which they will learn them to learn how to speak, read, write, or listen directly. By collecting data from articles that discuss language immersion in language learning, researchers use a type of qualitative research with the nature of library studies that use books and scientific works as the object of study, which are then analyzed descriptively to produce a clear, systematic, objective, analytical, and critical discussion of strategies and techniques for teaching Arabic using language immersion. The results of the literature analysis show that strategies and techniques for teaching Arabic using the language immersion method effectively improve students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The key aspects of this method are the focus on active conversation, speaking practice, intensive listening exposure, reading and understanding of Arabic texts, and writing activities.

Abstract

Grouping Arabic nouns into kinds of mudzakkar and muannats often become the source of gender biases understanding. Such classification is one of the characteristics of the Arabic language which is different from any other languages. With the existence of the classification, it is understood that the Arabic language provide strict distinction between sex differences. Gender bias in the Arabic language is very interesting to be examined not to denigrate the language, but to understand what exactly is a gender bias in the Arabic language so that we do not get trapped in the wrong understanding and seem condescending. This study concluded that when we examined more deeply, the mudzakar and muannats characteristics that exist in Arabic language give uniqueness and richness meaning that may not be found in other languages.
