Abstract

This research demonstrates the implementation of innovative learning through the utilization of Arabic-language videos and subtitles adopted by Pondok Pesantren Hasan Munjahid Grobogan. The study aims to provide insights into how the combination of videos and subtitles enriches students' learning experiences, particularly in mufradat learning. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing classroom action observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The gathered data will be qualitatively analyzed. Results indicate that the innovative use of Arabic-language videos and subtitles in Pondok Pesantren Hasan Munjahid effectively facilitates mufradat understanding and alleviates students' boredom. Positive responses are reflected in increased interest and motivation, impacting task performance during video sessions. While the approach has merits, identified shortcomings include some students struggling to grasp content. Therefore, recommendations include Arabic reading and writing training, additional materials provision, and individual guidance to optimize learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the second language acquisition of a child case study conducted through YouTube social media. Children who have not mastered the language can use YouTube media. This research uses qualitative and descriptive methodology. This study concentrates on basic vocabulary, namely nouns or animal names, as well as basic numeralia, namely numbers 1 to 10. The results of this study show that YouTube has a relevant impact on children's second language acquisition. Nonetheless, YouTube media does not absolutely depict the role of humans in language education and learning. The implications of this research can lead to the development of more innovative and effective learning methods to support Arabic language acquisition in early childhood. The utilization of YouTube media can be an inspiration to develop learning strategies that are more interesting and in accordance with the characteristics of child development

Abstract

Background: The 'Ammiyah language is a variation of Arabic used in informal communication and daily conversations in Egypt, in contrast to Standard Arabic, which is employed in formal and academic contexts. New students encounter various challenges when entering university life, making the adaptation process more difficult. Aims: This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by new Indonesian students in acquiring the 'Ammiyah language in Egypt. Methods: This research employs a case study method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten new Indonesian students in Egypt. Results: The findings indicate that new students experience several difficulties in acquiring the 'Ammiyah language, including (1) dialectal differences between Egyptian 'Ammiyah and the previously learned Standard Arabic (Fushah), (2) difficulties in understanding informal vocabulary and expressions in 'Ammiyah, and (3) psychological barriers that hinder their adaptation to using 'Ammiyah in a new environment. Implications: The results of this study are expected to provide insights for educational institutions in designing more effective 'Ammiyah language learning programs for foreign students in Egypt, as well as assist students in overcoming challenges related to acquiring the 'Ammiyah language in a new environment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Silent Way method on increasing students' awareness of the importance of learning Arabic. The background of this study is based on the low awareness of students in understanding Arabic language learning as a strategic tool in global communication and career development. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design, involving 40 students divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received instruction using the Silent Way method, while the control group used conventional methods. The research instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire measuring the cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions of learning awareness, analyzed using a t-test. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental group (average score increased from 2.9 to 3.7) compared to the control group (from 2.6 to 2.8), with a p-value 0.001. These findings prove that the Silent Way method is effective in fostering learning awareness through participatory, reflective, and learner-centered learning. This study recommends the application of this method in Arabic language instruction as an innovative strategy for building students' intrinsic awareness.

Abstract

The low interest of students in learning Arabic is one of the non-linguistic problems that have long challenged the effectiveness of Arabic language education. This occurs because many students perceive Arabic as a difficult subject that has little relevance to daily life, which makes the learning process less engaging. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using animated video media as an innovative learning tool to increase students’ interest in learning Arabic among eleventh-grade language students at MAN 1 Bone. This research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design, using interviews, observations, and questionnaires as data collection techniques. The findings indicate a significant increase in students’ learning interest after the implementation of animated video media, with the mean score rising from 58.83 (pretest) to 79.83 (posttest), showing an improvement of approximately 21 points. The effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.27) indicates a large practical effect, suggesting that the use of animated videos was not only statistically significant but also pedagogically meaningful in enhancing students’ interest in learning Arabic. This study highlights the importance of integrating technology-based instructional media into Arabic language education to align with the characteristics of the digital generation, who prefer visual and auditory interactive learning experiences.

Abstract

The inadequate speaking abilities of class XI students in Arabic language learning at MA Khairul Ummah Batu Gajah present a challenge that necessitates an innovative and participatory solution. This study aims to assess the implementation and effectiveness of a peer tutoring method integrated with flashcard media to enhance students' speaking abilities. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing a quasi-experimental design. The study population comprised all 140 class XI students, with a sample of 28 students from class XI IPA II as the experimental group and 26 students from class XI IPA III as the control group. Data collection was conducted through tests. The analysis revealed that the t-count of 7.008 exceeded the t-table value of 2.01 at a 5% significance level, and the significance level (2-tailed) was 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Consequently, H₁ is accepted while H₀ is rejected. These results suggest the method fosters a more active, interactive, and collaborative learning environment. Therefore, this study advocates for the implementation of peer tutoring supported by visual media, such as flashcards, as an effective and engaging strategy for Arabic language instruction.
