Abstract

The low interest of students in learning Arabic is one of the non-linguistic problems that have long challenged the effectiveness of Arabic language education. This occurs because many students perceive Arabic as a difficult subject that has little relevance to daily life, which makes the learning process less engaging. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using animated video media as an innovative learning tool to increase students’ interest in learning Arabic among eleventh-grade language students at MAN 1 Bone. This research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design, using interviews, observations, and questionnaires as data collection techniques. The findings indicate a significant increase in students’ learning interest after the implementation of animated video media, with the mean score rising from 58.83 (pretest) to 79.83 (posttest), showing an improvement of approximately 21 points. The effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.27) indicates a large practical effect, suggesting that the use of animated videos was not only statistically significant but also pedagogically meaningful in enhancing students’ interest in learning Arabic. This study highlights the importance of integrating technology-based instructional media into Arabic language education to align with the characteristics of the digital generation, who prefer visual and auditory interactive learning experiences.

Abstract

The inadequate speaking abilities of class XI students in Arabic language learning at MA Khairul Ummah Batu Gajah present a challenge that necessitates an innovative and participatory solution. This study aims to assess the implementation and effectiveness of a peer tutoring method integrated with flashcard media to enhance students' speaking abilities. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing a quasi-experimental design. The study population comprised all 140 class XI students, with a sample of 28 students from class XI IPA II as the experimental group and 26 students from class XI IPA III as the control group. Data collection was conducted through tests. The analysis revealed that the t-count of 7.008 exceeded the t-table value of 2.01 at a 5% significance level, and the significance level (2-tailed) was 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Consequently, H₁ is accepted while H₀ is rejected. These results suggest the method fosters a more active, interactive, and collaborative learning environment. Therefore, this study advocates for the implementation of peer tutoring supported by visual media, such as flashcards, as an effective and engaging strategy for Arabic language instruction.

Abstract

There is an increasing need for Arabic teaching resource innovations. However, innovations developed by teachers remain less prominent compared to those developed by researchers, despite the teachers' advantage of interacting directly with students. The aim of this research is to analyze demotivating factors for Arabic teachers’ to share their teaching methods. This research is a quantitative study with linear regression method to analyze data acquired from 30 highschool’s Arabic language teachers in Yogyakarta. The results show that the factors with the lowest average scores are teacher busyness and personal comfort. Linear regression analysis reveals that unilateral decision-making by school principals, without considering teachers' input, significantly affects teachers' motivation to participate in activities requiring them to share their teaching methods. The p-value for variable X is 0.008, which is less than 0.05, confirming that autocratic leadership significantly contributes to teachers’ demotivation. The F significance value is also below 0.05, indicating that the regression analysis is statistically significant. This finding presses the necessity to reevaluate teachers’ collaboration in the field and form ways to empower teachers' innovations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe how the campus environment shapes students’ Arabic communication skills. This study applies a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study conducted at the Arabic Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. Data collection was conducted through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and the data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity reinforced through source and method triangulation. The results showed that a campus environment that actively encourages the use of Arabic significantly improves students’ communicative skills, particularly fluency, confidence, and the courage to express opinions. Social interaction among students and support from lecturers and the academic community also strengthen functional and contextual language practice. However, this study also identified several obstacles, including inconsistent use of Arabic outside the classroom, limited space for continuous practice, and psychological factors among students. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen language policies and develop a campus ecosystem that consistently supports the use of Arabic to optimally and sustainably improve students’ communicative competence.

Abstract

Learning Arabic requires strong memory skills, especially in mastering vocabulary (mufradāt) and sentence structure. However, in practice, many students find it difficult to retain what they have learned due to conventional teaching methods that lack visualization. This study aims to analyze the application of the Picture-to-Picture method based on Canva media in improving students' memory in Arabic language learning. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach and was conducted on seventh-grade students at the Islamic Center Bim Baz Putri Madrasah Tsanawiyah. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the use of the Picture-to-Picture method supported by Canva media was able to create more active, interactive, and meaningful learning. Students found it easier to remember vocabulary when the material was presented through a series of contextual and interesting images. In addition to improving memory, this method also had a positive impact on students' motivation, activity, and understanding in Arabic language learning. Thus, the Canva-based Picture to Picture method is effective as an alternative learning strategy to strengthen students' long-term memory.
