Abstract

This study was conducted based on the gap in student language environment while in boarding and at home. When at home, students can't feel the language environment, and there aren't digital learning media that can support the consistency of students' Arabic language acquisition. So, this research was carried out with the aim of making instagram a place for students to acquire a second language and knowing the factors that can affect students' language acquisition based on psycholinguistic studies. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods, with data collection instruments in the form of unstructured interviews and description tests. The research sample was 20 students of SMAS La Tansa Islamic Boarding School through a purposive sampling technique. Based on the test results, students were able to mention 6 new vocabulary, 1 uslūb, and 2 words that had writing errors. In addition, students are able to produce new sentences in Arabic through inference activities or reveal the implied meaning in the content. The language acquisition factors experienced by students are intrinsic in the form of interest, motivation, and language cognitive abilities. In contrast, extrinsic influences for students come from the language environment and curriculum design. The implication of this research for boarding school institutions is to integrate traditional curriculum and technology through Arabic language acquisition through instagram content so that Arabic language acquisition gives an interactive and up-to-date impression. Future research should explore its impact on language skills, compare it with other platforms, and study teachers' preparedness for digital integration.

Abstract

Code-switching and code-mixing are linguistic phenomena in everyday communication and second language learning. However, this phenomenon can be a challenge for learners in the context of learning Arabic. This research examines code switching and code mixing in Arabic learning at Mumārasah Language Excellence Program of MA Ali Maksum Yogyakarta and the factors that cause code switching and code mixing. This research is field research with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data sources in this research are teachers and students of class ten. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, in analyzing the data, researchers used data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusions. The results show that in Arabic learning at Mumārasah Program of MA Ali Maksum, there is external code-switching from Arabic to Indonesian and two types of code-mixing: 1) external code-mixing, involving the insertion of English or Arabic words and 2) mixed code-mixing, involving a mix of Indonesian, Arabic, English, and Javanese. This article explores factors contributing to code-switching and code-mixing, such as speaker characteristics, interlocutors, popular language trends, and humor. While these phenomena are well-studied in linguistics and language learning, the article aims to provide strategic advice for Arabic learners. By effectively utilizing code switching and code mixing, learners can enhance communication, overcome barriers, and gain confidence in Arabic.overcome communicative barriers and boost their confidence in Arabic.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze gender values in Arabic language learning materials for tenth-grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah Bantul using a sociolinguistic approach. The research employs a qualitative approach with a literature review, and data analysis is conducted using the interactive technique of Miles and Huberman. The analysis was carried out on several chapters of the learning materials. The results indicate the presence of gender bias in the presentation of Arabic language learning materials for tenth-grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah Bantul. After being analyzed based on five forms of gender inequality, it was found that seven chapters in the learning materials exhibit gender bias in the forms of stereotypes, marginalization, and subordination. Meanwhile, only one chapter, ???? ????, does not show any indications of gender bias. This imbalance is evident in various aspects, such as the dominance of male characters in dialogue texts, vocabulary choices that predominantly represent male roles in the public sphere, and the lack of female involvement in academic and professional discourse. Additionally, there is a tendency to associate certain roles with specific genders, which can reinforce stereotypes among students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of training, career development and motivation on the performance of Maintenance Unit 22 (Sathar 22) Maintenance Depo 20 (Depohar 20) personnel of the Indonesian Air Force. Sathar 22 has an important role in carrying out calibration of precision measuring instruments (AUP), Ground Support Equipment (GSE), avionics testers and special aircraft testers. As the person tasked with maintaining the accuracy standards of measuring instruments, Sathar 22 faces challenges in the form of a decrease in the number of personnel due to retirement, tour of duty/tour of area (TOA/TOD), as well as various other factors that can affect the smooth maintenance and calibration of the system. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach which aims to explore the factors that influence personnel performance. The research results show that effective training acts as a long-term investment in improving the quality of human resources, so that personnel can work more competently and efficiently. Structured career development provides clear direction and goals for individuals in achieving a higher level. Apart from that, work motivation provided through incentives, awards and recognition for their performance plays an important role in increasing work morale. With good human resource management, it is hoped that Sathar 22 can achieve optimal operational effectiveness and efficiency in supporting maintenance and calibration tasks.

Abstract

This study aims to design and analyze the effectiveness of the Arabic language environment based on cooperative learning in improving students' speaking proficiency in the Arabic Language Education Study Program (PBA) UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This research uses a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, where quantitative data is collected first through pre-test and post-test to measure the improvement of students’ speaking proficiency, then continued with qualitative data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation to understand more deeply the process of implementing cooperative learning. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using a paired T-test, while qualitative data was analyzed thematically. The results showed that the cooperative learning-based Arabic environment design included learning activities such as role-play, group discussion, and jigsaw that encouraged students’ active interaction and provided more opportunities to practice speaking. Quantitatively, there was an increase in students’ speaking proficiency scores, with an average pre-test of 65 (22,97) and post-test of 80 (33,40), which showed a statistically significant difference (p-value < 0,05). Meanwhile, the qualitative results revealed that students felt more confident, motivated, and active in participating during the learning process. Supporting factors for the success of learning include cooperation between students, the role of the class, lecturers as facilitators, and a learning atmosphere that supports speaking Arabic. The obstacles faced include the students' different abilities in the group and the limited time during learning. Based on these results, it can be concluded that cooperative learning-based Arabic environment design is effective in improving students’ speaking proficiency, so it is recommended to be applied in a more structured and sustainable manner in Arabic language learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the instructional materials for speaking skills in the book Al-Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik for first-year students, parts one and two. This library research uses a qualitative approach and a descriptive method, with documentation used as the data collection technique. The method of data analysis employed is content analysis. The primary data sources are the book Al-Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik for first-year students, parts one and two, and the book Pembelajaran Konstruktivisme, Teori dan Aplikasi Pembelajaran dalam Pembentukan Karakter by Sigit Mangun Wardoyo. Secondary sources include books, previous research findings, and scientific articles related to the topic. The findings of this study show that the instructional materials for speaking skills are presented in the form of dialogues between two or more people, covering 16 dialogue topics. Each unit contains three dialogues, except for the first unit, which contains six dialogues. The materials align with two out of the seven characteristics of constructivist theory but are less aligned or not aligned with the others.

Abstract

The concept of education is always interesting to discuss. Many figures have been peeled from both Muslims and non-Muslims. Al-Ghazali and Al-Farabi are the second Muslim leaders who have great attention to education. Thought both are interesting to compare because it has almost the same background in philosophy so that the approach in this study used acomparative study with the object of the discussion focused on the two men thought about the concept of education. The result showed that education in the thinking of al-Ghazali should lead to the realization of religious and moral character, with the emphasis on the acquisition of virtue and taqarrub to God and not to seek a high position or gain magnificence of the world while according to Al-Farabi, education as a means for get a set of values, knowledge, and practical skills for individuals in certain periods and cultures. The end goal, guiding individuals towards perfection.

Abstract

The low Willingness to Communicate (WTC) in Arabic language learning has become a barrier to mastering communicative competence, often caused by students' low self-confidence. This study aims to analyze the impact of AI usage on students' WTC in Arabic language learning. A quantitative approach was employed, and data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring WTC, self-confidence, and motivation. The sample consisted of students from Arabic Education programs at several universities, selected using cluster random sampling techniques. The findings reveal that AI has a significant positive effect on WTC by creating a supportive, interactive, and adaptive learning environment. AI provides personalized feedback that helps boost students' confidence. AI-based technology plays a crucial role in enhancing WTC and supporting the success of Arabic language learning. This study lays the foundation for developing technology-based pedagogical strategies and emphasizes the importance of improving WTC for successful Arabic language acquisition.
