Abstract

Patient adherence to medication regimens is a crucial determinant of therapeutic success. Poor adherence remains one of the major causes of treatment failure, particularly in long-term therapies that require consistent and repeated drug administration. One effective pharmaceutical strategy to enhance patient compliance is the development of sustained-release drug delivery systems. These systems are designed to release active pharmaceutical ingredients gradually over an extended period, thereby maintaining therapeutic drug concentrations in the bloodstream while reducing dosing frequency. This systematic review aims to analyze recent innovations in sustained-release tablet formulations developed over the past decade and to evaluate their contribution to improving patient adherence. Literature searches were conducted across major scientific databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. The search employed the following keywords: “sustained release tablet,” “controlled release formulation,” “patient compliance,” and “pharmaceutical innovation.” A total of 32 articles met the inclusion criteria after rigorous screening and evaluation. The analysis revealed substantial advancements in formulation technology, particularly through the application of both natural and synthetic polymers such as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), carbopol, and chitosan. Furthermore, the integration of modern technologies—including 3D printing, matrix systems, and osmotic pump mechanisms—has significantly enhanced drug release efficiency, prolonged therapeutic duration, and minimized dosing frequency. Overall, sustained-release tablet formulations play a pivotal role in improving patient adherence, especially in chronic treatments, and continue to evolve alongside modern pharmaceutical innovations.

Abstract

Blood glucose reduction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) varies considerably among individuals, largely due to genetic factors that influence responses to antidiabetic drug therapy. This interindividual variability affects both the effectiveness and safety of commonly prescribed oral antidiabetic agents. Therefore, understanding the genetic determinants of treatment response is essential for optimizing glycemic control in patients with T2DM. This systematic review aims to identify genetic polymorphisms associated with variations in blood glucose reduction, particularly in patients receiving metformin, sulfonylureas, and other oral antidiabetic drugs. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using the PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases. A total of 880 articles were initially identified, of which 760 articles passed the preliminary screening based on title and abstract relevance. Following full-text screening using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, five studies were deemed eligible and included in the final analysis. The findings indicate that several genes play a major role in determining glycemic response to oral antidiabetic therapy, including SLC22A1 (OCT1), SLC22A2 (OCT2), SLC47A1 (MATE1), CYP2C9, KCNJ11, ABCC8, and TCF7L2. Genetic variations in these genes influence drug pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, thereby contributing to differences in therapeutic effectiveness and glycemic outcomes among patients.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how socio-economic conditions, food consumption patterns, intergenerational childcare practices, environmental sanitation, and access to integrated health posts (Posyandu) interact to shape stunting risk among children under five. An intrinsic case study design with a qualitative approach was employed. Thirteen informants—comprising parents, two Posyandu cadres, and the village head were purposively selected. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review, then analyzed thematically using NVivo 12. Findings reveal that unstable income, a "just full enough" consumption orientation, caregiving by grandmothers with limited nutrition literacy, inadequate sanitation,& irr egular Posyandu utilization collectively form social mechanisms that incr ease stunting risk. Word frequency analysis identified "Alhamdulillah" as a cultural coping mechanism that normalizes food insecurity. The study concludes that addressing stunting requires multi-level, family- and community-based interventions integrating food security, nutrition educa tion, sanitation improvement, and strengthened Posyandu functions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by a word wall on the mathematics learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 9, Sorong City. The method used was a pre-experimental one with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample consisted of 25 students, and the research instruments in the form of pretest and posttest. Data analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk test, the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, and the N-Gain test. The results showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p = 0.000 < 0.05) and an average N-Gain of 0.63 (moderate category). Learning with TGT assisted by a word wall has been proven to effectively improve students' conceptual understanding and learning motivation
