Abstract

This study aims to develop a Qurani-based economic character education model through daily charity activities in senior high schools, integrating Islamic values with modern educational theories. The conceptual foundation draws from Surah Al-Baqarah (verses 261–269) and three authentic hadiths of Al-Bukhari (No. 6465, 2989, and 2442) that emphasize sincerity, consistency in good deeds, and social benefit, combined with modern educational theories. This research applies a qualitative conceptual literature study using Creswell and Miles & Huberman frameworks through stages of data reduction, display, and thematic conclusion. The findings reveal that daily charity functions as an effective medium for character formation through moral habituation, social interaction, and spiritual reflection. Key values such as sincerity, financial responsibility, empathy, and moderation in consumption are systematically developed, supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). The novelty of this study lies in its integration of Qurani ethics and Western educational philosophy (Aristotle, Dewey, Maslow, and Vygotsky) into a contextual and applicable framework for strengthening economic character education in Indonesian secondary schools.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the weakening spirit of nationalism among students, as reflected in low social participation, declining concern for national issues, and an increasing individualistic orientation within the university environment. In the context of globalization and digital disruption, civic education needs to evolve into an arena for active and reflective character development through innovative approaches, such as civic campaigns. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a civic campaign in the Civics course on improving the nationalistic character of students at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). The study employed a quantitative approach, utilizing an explanatory survey method with 100 student respondents. Data were collected through a standardized questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) via SmartPLS 4 software. The results showed that the civic Campaign had a positive and significant effect on strengthening students' nationalistic character, as measured through the dimensions of national awareness, social responsibility, and active participation in community activities. A collaborative learning environment and lecturer support were also proven to play an important mediating factor in strengthening the relationship between variables. These findings confirm that the civic campaign approach can revitalize citizenship education by fostering sustainable moral and social engagement among students. The practical implications of this research lie in the need to integrate civic campaigns into the Civics curriculum to shape a young generation with a nationalistic character and a focus on social responsibility

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore a hypothetical model of religious character education based on the local wisdom of the Kuta Ciamis Indigenous Community by identifying: 1) Religious Core Values, 2) Value Internalization Methods, and 3) Dimensions of Character Education. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing ethnographic methods. The research data sources comprise both primary and secondary data, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews with key informants, such as Traditional Leaders, Elders, Kuncen, and Youth Activists. Participatory observation by observing the socio-religious life of the Kuta Ciamis Indigenous Community, as well as documentation studies used by researchers, including community profile documents of Kuta Village, and archives of data on activities of the Kuta Ciamis Indigenous Community. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of the study show that: 1) the hypothetical model of religious character education is built on three main foundations of core values, namely, religious (monotheism, worship, morals), cultural (rituals, symbols, taboos), and socio-ecological (harmonious relationships between humans and others and nature). 2) Internalization and enculturation of contextual values, with the important role of families, traditional figures, religious figures, and social communities in shaping religious character. Religious values are internalized through role models, habituation, social control, and cultural narratives such as myths and ancestral wisdom. This model produces a holistic religious character that unites spiritual, moral, social, and ecological piety. Methodologically, this model confirms the effectiveness of community-based character education and local culture as an alternative paradigm for contextual and sustainable national character education. 3) The four main dimensions of religious character formation based on local wisdom are: spiritual, social, moral, and ecological.

Abstract

The limited integration of traditional games as systematic strategies for religious character education in elementary schools indicates a gap between local cultural heritage potential and classroom practices. Congklak, though familiar to Indonesian children, has rarely been examined as a medium for embedding religious values within character education strategies.  This study identifies religious values embedded in congklak and examines their relevance as foundations for developing religious character education strategies in elementary schools.  A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with an academic expert and cultural practitioner, complemented by literature review. Thematic analysis identified recurring values, which were triangulated across sources to ensure credibility.  Five core religious values were identified: honesty (moving seeds accurately without supervision), patience (turn-taking and accepting outcomes), empathy (comforting peers), sportsmanship (accepting victory and defeat with humility), and gratitude (acknowledging outcomes). These values emerge naturally through game mechanics and player interactions rather than explicit instruction. Congklak functions as a culturally grounded, experiential medium for internalizing religious values. When integrated into curriculum with guided reflection, it offers elementary teachers a contextual, engaging pedagogical strategy for religious character development. Future research should examine classroom implementation effectiveness through empirical longitudinal studies.

Abstract

quality gaps despite a Gross Enrollment Rate (GER) of 98.10%. Geographic barriers, economic constraints, and unequal teacher distribution underscore the need for alternative delivery models. This study assessed the potential implementation of Open Schooling and Distance Learning for senior and vocational high schools in South Kalimantan. Using a quantitative descriptive design, data were collected from principal and teacher questionnaires, facility observations at 30 Learning Activity Centers, and document review of GER, Net Enrollment Rate (NER), and the national Education Data System (Dapodik). Descriptive statistics (mean, percentage, and frequency) showed that major barriers were limited digital infrastructure, substandard teacher–student ratios, and weak local regulations. Nevertheless, 77% of teachers supported the open/PJJ model, and most schools demonstrated adequate information and communication technology (ICT) readiness, indicating high feasibility. The novelty of this study lies in combining stakeholder perceptions, school ICT readiness, and learning activity centers conditions to map provincial-level implementation feasibility. The findings provide evidence for provincial policymaking, particularly in developing regulations, strengthening ICT infrastructure, and expanding learning activity centers in remote areas to improve equity, reduce dropout rates, and support high-quality 12-year compulsory education.

Abstract

This study aims to identify character building programs and analyze obstacles in implementing character building programs for the rehabilitation of children in the Bandung Class II Special Children’s Rehabilitation Center. A qualitative descriptive approach was used to analyze Pancasila-based character building programs for the rehabilitation of children. The results of the study indicate that character development for the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders at the Bandung Class II Special Juvenile Rehabilitation Center is implemented through formal education programs as well as religious, intellectual, and national awareness character development programs, health, sports and arts, law and society, and independence. The challenges faced in character development efforts for the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders at the Special Juvenile Correctional Facility Class II Bandung include limited facilities and infrastructure, insufficient collaboration with educational institutions and local governments, a shortage of qualified educators and trainers, inadequate facilities, insufficient funding allocation, and poorly structured supervision. Efforts to address these challenges in character development for children in the Special Children’s Rehabilitation Center Class II Bandung can be achieved by improving human resource quality, enhancing facilities and infrastructure, optimizing budgets, fostering inter institutional collaboration, and developing a more structured evaluation system.

Abstract

The Pancasila-inspired humanitarian volunteer movement represents a tangible form of ideology realization in Indonesian society. This article explores the strategic role of volunteers as change agents who revive the spirit of mutual cooperation, deliberation, and social justice amidst growing societal complexity. From the perspective of Pancasila, volunteering is not merely a social activity but an ideological praxis rooted in national values. Adopting a humanist approach, this paper highlights the contribution of volunteers as intermediaries between the government and the people, while also promoting inclusive democratic participation. It further addresses the challenges and strengthening strategies for Pancasila-based volunteer movements in the context of globalization and the digital era. Cross-sector collaboration and community-based education are crucial to sustain this movement as a foundation for national character development.

Abstract

This study proposes a conceptual framework of appreciative character based on music appreciation learning, placing appreciative character as the main outcome of the learning process. This character is believed to foster critical awareness and positive attitudes towards beauty, diversity, and differences in social life. This study uses a descriptive-conceptual literature review to construct the proposed framework by synthesizing theories on intolerance, character education, virtue ethics, aesthetics, and music appreciation learning. The resulting conceptual framework offers a new perspective in responding to contemporary challenges in music education by expanding its epistemological foundation to include moral (character) and social dimensions. Within this framework, music appreciation learning is understood as an effort to cultivate moral virtues through mesos habits that include attention, repetition, and recognition in the process of music appreciation; while intellectual virtues are developed through systematic engagement with musical knowledge, including music theory, history, counterpoint, harmony, orchestration, composition, and related academic fields.
