Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the development of children's language skills by applying the storytelling method assisted by finger puppet media in Kindergarten ABA II "ALAM" Bojonegoro, by looking at the problem regarding the low ability of children's language, especially in speaking ability. This type of research is action research carried out in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were 15 children. Research data on language skills were obtained using the observation method through instruments in the form of observation format sheets. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of data analysis showed that there was an increase in the average score of children's language skills after the application of the finger puppet media-assisted storytelling method cycle I of 58.47% which was in the low category. Then in cycle II it becomes 84.00% which is in the high category. So the increase in language skills after applying the storytelling method assisted by finger puppet media is 25.33%.Keywords: Language Skills, Finger Puppets, Storytelling.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mendiskripsikan pengembangan kemampuan berbahasa anak dengan penerapan metode bercerita berbantuan media boneka jari di TK ABA II “ALAM” Bojonegoro, dengan melihat permasalahan mengenai rendahnya kemampuan berbahasa anak khususnya dalam kemampuan berbicara. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang terdiri atas perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 15 orang anak. Data penelitian tentang kemampuan berbahasa diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode observasi melalui instrumen berupa lembar format observasi. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terjadinya peningkatan rata-rata skor kemampuan berbahasa anak setelah diterapkan metode bercerita berbantuan media boneka jari siklus I sebesar 58,47% yang berada pada kategori rendah. Kemudian pada siklus II menjadi 84,00% yang berada pada kategori tinggi. Jadi peningkatan kemampuan berbahasa setelah diterapkan metode bercerita berbantuan media boneka jari sebesar 25,33%.Kata kunci : Kemampuan Berbahasa, Boneka Jari, Bercerita.

Abstract

Students completing their studies in the English Education Study Program must be required by thesis writing and submission. It was also acknowledged that the supervisors had afforded proper supervision. Nevertheless, for the English structure of the thesis writing correctness, it still needed help from an application, Grammarly. Therefore, this research aimed to describe the research participant’s engagement and how the application has influenced confidence in writing a thesis, and the confidence is exposed as a case to picture out. To determine which students worked using the application to write their thesis, a questionnaire was distributed to forty students enrolling in the ninth semester of the academic year 2019/2020. The result of the determination found twenty-nine students using the application to refine their writing subjects, and three of them working on their thesis writing completion under supervision using premium Grammarly were selected as the participants for this research. The selection criteria were on the basis of positive attitudes towards Grammarly, working on the thesis writing completion, and possessing a premium Grammarly account. The data of this research were participants’ error types collected from the thesis draft reviewed and their revision, and their opinion of the engagement and influence of Grammarly on writing confidence resulted from the interview. This research revealed that the participant’s thesis writing confidence was influenced by Grammarly diversity. Despite that diversity, as the case, this research inferred that the participants have positive emotions and attitudes in using Grammarly. The implication of this research is the promotion number of Grammarly users in the first-degree study program to make the supervision faster and the thesis writing better.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji keefektifan Aplikasi Undercover Game untuk meningkatkan kosa kata siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian pra-eksperimental. Sampelnya adalah siswa kelas VII SMP N 25 Pontianak pada Tahun Pelajaran 2022/2023. Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh hasil bahwa Aplikasi Game Undercover meningkatkan kosakata siswa. Nilai t-hitung komputasi lebih besar dibandingkan dengan t-tabel (10,50 > 1,697) yang berarti hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak. Skor effect size sebesar 1,78 >1,00, dikategorikan 'kuat'. Antusiasme siswa juga terlihat selama proses belajar mengajar. Mereka antusias memainkan Aplikasi Game Undercover dengan menjelaskan kata-kata rahasianya dan mendapatkan kosa kata baru. Kesimpulannya, Aplikasi Game Undercover meningkatkan kosakata siswa.

Abstract

This research aims to improve students’ reading comprehension of narrative text by using Read, Encode, Annotate, and Ponder (REAP) strategy. This research is a classroom action research which was conducted in three cycles. The participants of this research are the teacher and the students in class X IIS 4 of SMA Negeri 1 Kayan Hulu.The study showed that the use of REAP strategy gave significant improvement in students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. Before implementing the strategy, the students’ understanding of the text were not well structured because they could not comprehend the text or story clearly. They were not motivated to read and comprehend the text. The students’ problems solved when the researcher implemented REAP strategy for teaching and learning. REAP strategy gave an active process of reading which can help students to construct their greater understanding about the text. It was shown by students’ enthusiasm to pay attention in doing every activity during teaching and learning process used REAP strategy. Furthermore, the students showed motivation and enthusiasm during the learning phase of teaching. In conclusion, the use of REAP strategy could enhance students’ reading comprehension of narrative text.

Abstract

This study aims to solve the problems found in students’ writing especially the errors in the use of authorial and secretarial aspects to the 11th grade students from OTKP major SMK Negeri 1 Teluk Keramat in the academic year 2021/2022. Using Classroom Action Research (CAR), this study tried to improve students’ writing skill of personal letter by the use of the peer-editing technique. The participants of this research were the 11th grade students of Otomatisasi dan Tata Kelola Perkantoran (OTKP) major. The data were collected through observation and documentation. The data were analyst using quantitative and thematic analysist technique. The results showed that the use of the peer-editing technique successfully improved students’ writings skill of personal letter. It was found through the process of using the peer-editing technique, students were likely to give various types of comments and suggestions in the text structure, grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, and spelling. The improvement of students’ writing results occurred in both authorial (text structure, grammar, vocabulary) and secretarial (punctuation, spelling) aspects. Therefore, this classroom action research was successful. Students’ writing skill was improved gradually by the use of the peer-editing technique.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the English teachers’ strategy in writing activities at the eighth grade of Junior High Schools at Kembayan sub-district and how the English teachers implement the strategy. This research used a descriptive qualitative design. The data were gathered from observation, interviews, and documentation. The result of this research showed that there were four teachers’ strategies for writing activities in the eighth grade. The strategies were guided writing strategy, repeating strategy, cooperating with peers strategy, and translation strategy. In implementing the teaching strategy, the English teacher asked the students to write some expressions and dialogues depending on the strategy used. The teacher who used the repeating strategy asked students to copy the expressions or dialogues in the textbook into their workbooks. For the translation strategy, the teacher asked students to translate expressions or dialogues and then asked them to write the translation in the workbook. For the guided writing strategy, the teacher wrote a dialogue on the whiteboard and asked students to write a dialogue using the random words given by following the template on the whiteboard. For the cooperating with peers strategy, the teacher asked students to discuss in a group and then write a dialogue. These strategies could help teachers in teaching students and also encourage students to participate in the teaching and learning process actively.

Abstract

A good teaching-learning process involves students and teachers as a single main source in the classroom. Student participation is essential in the teaching-learning process because it allows for good interaction between teachers and students. Teachers' questioning strategies can encourage students to participate more actively in the language-learning process. Teachers must use questioning strategies because they are one of the factors that contribute to an effective teaching and learning process. The purpose of this study was to learn about the types of English teachers' questioning strategies and why they used them in their classroom interactions at SMK Negeri 1 Paloh. In this study, the writer used a descriptive qualitative method. To collect data, the writer conducted classroom observations and recorded audio interviews. The data was collected from two English teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Paloh who teach in grades X and XI to determine the types of questioning strategies used and why they were used during classroom interactions. Based on the observations, the study findings indicate that the teachers asked procedural, convergent, and divergent questions. During the classroom interaction in which they were asked the question, the English teachers actively used question strategies to assess the student's understanding of the previous material, to attract the students' attention, to support the students' contributions in class, and to motivate the students to learn. As a result, the English teacher used their questioning strategies in their teaching-learning process, and the students were more active and confident in their ability to understand and answer questions.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the teacher strategies in teaching English to children with special needs in Zonakata Inclusive School, Pontianak, Indonesia. This research was designed as qualitative case-study research. This design was chosen to help the researcher gain deep information about the phenomenon discussed and to explore the case intensively based on the real-life context. The research participants were two teachers in Zonakata Inclusive School who teach English to children with special needs in grade three. To get the data, observation, interview, and document review were used. The data collected was then analysed using thematic analysis. This study showed that the teachers used co-teaching and differentiated teaching strategies with the help of visual media to teach English to children with special needs. In conclusion, the participants' combination of those strategies was proven to be implemented and encouraged to be used to teach English to children with special needs.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease that causes the highest death in the world. The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus is quite high in the Simpang Tiga Health Center, Pekanbaru City. One of the complaints often experienced by people with diabetes mellitus is fatigue. Fatique in type 2 diabetes mellitus sufferers is influenced by physical and psychological factors, physical factors include complications, sleep quality, and pain while psychological factors are anxiety and depression. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of balloon blowing on the fatigue of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This research is quantitative in nature. This research was conducted at the Simpang Tiga Health Center in Pekanbaru City in May 2023 with 18 respondents. The research design used was a quasy experimental design, using the Fatique Serverity Scale questionnaire research instrument. The analysis used is the frequency distribution and the statistical test Paired-t test to see the effect on the variables. The results of the study concluded that there was a significant effect of balloon blowing on the fatigue of diabetes mellitus patients (p value 0.000 : a = 0.05). This researcher recommends to future researchers to conduct further research with a control group, and other interventions. So that the scope of discussion becomes wider.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan model instrumen asesmen awal yang digunakan oleh lembaga untuk mendeteksi riwayat perkembangan anak usia dini siswa baru PAUD Plus Darussalam Bojonegoro. Asesmen riwayat perkembangan anak ini menjadi sumber data utama dan referensi awal bagi lembaga untuk mengakses informasi dan data kesehatan siswa baru, perkembangan dan kemampuan ataupun bakat anak, yang bersumber dari orang tua sehingga data ini  berguna bagi guru dan lembaga dalam penanganan masalah perkembangan anak disekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa instrumen asesmen perkembangan anak ini sangat berguna bagi lembaga, khususnya bagi guru kelas sebagai acuan, referensi dan pijakan awal mendalami masalah yang muncul dalam penanganan perkembangan anak sehari-hari guna mendapatkan solusi yang tepat.
