Abstract

This study explores the implementation of online learning in Islamic Education (PAI) using the Independent Curriculum and offers solutions to overcome these obstacles. Using a qualitative methodology, data were collected through in-depth interviews and literature reviews from various sources, including books, scientific publications, and interviews with PAI teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah 1. The key findings reveal three main challenges: a lack of parental involvement, low digital literacy among teachers and students, and unequal access to technology. Furthermore, the limited availability of engaging, contextual, and digital-based PAI content poses significant difficulties. This study recommends enhancing teacher training in digital literacy, developing technology-based PAI learning resources, and fostering collaboration with communities, parents, and schools. To increase student interest, it emphasizes project-based learning methods and the integration of Islamic technologies, such as digital Quran applications. This research aims to support the development of relevant and effective PAI learning strategies for the digital era.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the impact of globalization on the teaching style of geography teachers in Indonesia. The main focus of this research is to identify the extent to which globalization influences four key parameters in teaching: technology adaptation, multiculturalism, global literacy and skills, and educational standards and evaluation. The method used is a survey involving 100 geography teachers from 19 provinces in Indonesia, who assessed their responses to these parameters using a Likert scale. The regression analysis results show that globalization has a significant impact on teaching styles, with a regression coefficient of 0.7486, meaning that every increase in adaptation to globalization enhances the teaching style by 0.7486 units. The R² value of 60.40% and the adjusted R² of 58.78% indicate that around 60% of the variation in teaching style can be explained by the influence of globalization. These findings suggest that globalization encourages teachers to integrate technology into their teaching, promote multicultural values, and apply international educational standards. This study concludes that the influence of globalization on teaching styles in Indonesia is substantial and fosters an improvement in the quality of geography education.Keywords: Globalization, Teaching Style, Geography Teachers

Abstract

Understanding text in English is challenging for EFL learners. The observations and interviews revealed that students lack vocabulary, identify specific information, and determine the main idea of Recount text. This study was conducted to improve students' reading comprehension in recount text using the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) technique. The study employed a mixed-method research design following two cycles of collaborative action research and collected the data using field notes, an observation checklist, and a reading test. The study sample was an intact class of 8th grade comprising 28 students chosen using purposive sampling. Descriptive statistics such as mean score and percentage were used to analyze the data. The findings demonstrated that the student's reading comprehension mean score in Cycle 1 was 61.8, with 35.7% of students categorized as poor, and in Cycle 2, the average score was 82, with only 3.6% insufficient. Depart from the results above, the researchers concluded that students' reading comprehension improved considerably after the intervention using the STAD technique.

Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive overview of current publication patterns in the field of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). In this research, the trends investigated are publication and citation growth, researcher’s productivity, and the most impactful publications. In addition to the publication trends, network visualizations of the terms co-occurrence and co-authorship are also presented in this research. A quantitative descriptive method with bibliometric analysis is employed as the research design of this research. The data analyzed are 6333 journal articles related to EFL published in 2011-2021. All of the data are obtained from the Scopus database. From the analysis using Scopus and Microsoft Excel, it was found that the highest publication growth in percent is in 2012 with a 98,6% of publication increase, and the highest publication growth in number is in 2020 with a total of 310 more publications compared to the previous year. Using the same tools, the researchers also found that the most productive author is Karim Sadeghi with 10 publications, and the most cited publication is an article titled 'English achievement and student motivation in CLIL and EFL settings' by David Lasagabaster. Meanwhile, from the network visualizations using VOSviewer, the researchers concluded that there are two major research themes in EFL, namely pedagogy and affective factors in learning, and the most collaborative author based on the co-authorship analysis is Ehsan Namaziandost.

Abstract

This research aimed to discover moral values presented in the Encanto movie script based on Hartmann’s theory and to identify the most dominant moral value of each group. The research method was a qualitative descriptive study. The data source was from the Encanto movie script by Charise Castro Smith and Jared Bush. The SPEAKING model (setting and scene, participant, end, act of sequence, key, instrumental, norm, and genre) by Dell Hymes was used as the data analysis to analyze conversation in the Encanto movie script. The findings showed 16 data on moral values divided into three groups of moral values. The first group was wisdom, courage, and self-control. The second group was brotherly love, trust and faith. The third group was radiant virtue. Moral values in this research provided relevant implications for other researchers in analyzing moral values through literary works, especially movie scripts.

Abstract

Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge TPACK) is the knowledge that should be mastered by the teacher nowadays. The primary objective of this research is to investigate students' perceptions and reactions regarding the integration of Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) in a Senior High School setting. The study specifically targets twelfth-grade students enrolled in the Science Class at a selected Senior High School in Pontianak. The participants consist of a cohort of XII-grade students who provided their feedback by responding to a set of 35 statements pertaining to the teacher's utilization of TPACK. The collected data were subjected to analysis using SPSS Statistics 16.0. The findings reveal that the mean score for the teacher's TPACK is 3.57, with scores for Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) at 3.75, instructional objectives content at 3.66, instructional representations and strategies at 3.62, and knowledge of students' understanding at 3.50. Additionally, nearly 100% of the students expressed strong  agreement with statements highlighting the teacher's proficient pedagogical knowledge in implementing TPACK within the classroom. Consequently, the data analysis demonstrates a positive response towards the implementation of TPACK, indicating the successful  integration of each element of TPACK among the XII Grade MIPA students.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impact of the online class on students in learning English and investigate the level of students' motivation in learning English during the online class. This research applied descriptive research on eleventh-grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Pontianak in the academic year 2020/2021. The data collection techniques were measurement and semi-structured interviews, while the tools were questionnaire and interview questions. The findings of this research revealed the negative impacts of the online class, including students"™ difficulties in understanding the teacher"™s explanation and learning materials, problems in creating a conducive atmosphere for learning, and students"™ problems in time management. By contrast, the positive impact of the online class made several students more enthusiastic and more focused on study. Besides, the findings showed that 53% of students were qualified with a moderate degree of motivation. The online class did not significantly change the level of students' motivation in learning English even though the students faced difficulties during the online class.

Abstract

This research explored the effectiveness of incorporating BBC News videos to enhance the speaking pronunciation and fluency of Islamic High School students. Using a pre-experimental design, the research assessed students' speaking abilities before and after exposure to BBC News. Statistical analysis revealed a significant enhancement in the students' speaking skills. The findings showed that the use of BBC News videos contributed to a noticeable, moderate enhancement in their pronunciation and fluency. This research highlights the potential of BBC News as a meaningful and engaging tool for enhancing students' speaking abilities, emphasizing its value in language learning.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan bagian penting dalam hidup manusia. Al-Qur’an sebagai pedoman umat Islam memberi landasan dasar dan prinsip konsep pendidikan. Tulisan ini menganalisa kajian pendidikan berbasis al-Qur’an bagi anak usia dasar. Fokus penelitian ini menganalisa bagaimana konsep pendidikan dalam al-Qur’an, istilah pendidikan dalam al-Qur’an dan upaya menghidupkan nilai-nilai al-Qur’an dalam pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kepustakaan. Buku dan artikel ilmiah yang relevan, menjadi rujukan utama dalam penelitian. Berdasarkan penelaahan yang dilakukan ditemukan bahwa (1) konsep pendidikan dalam al-Qur’an adalah proses menguatkan akidah (ketauhidan) kepada anak; (2) istilah pendidikan yang lazim dikenal dalam al-Qur’an yaitu tarbiyah dan ta’lim; (3) upaya menghidupkan al-Qur’an dalam pendidikan dilakukan dalam bentuk ibadah rutin di sekolah/madrasah dan pembinaan karakter.
