Abstract

Penalaran merupakan salah satu proses berpikir yang dilakukan manusia dalam menyelesaiakan atau memecahkan masalah. Gaya belajar yang dimiliki siswa mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendiskripsikan kemampuan penalaran dalam pemecahan masalah ditinjau dari gaya belajar visual, auditorial, dan kinestetik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif menggunakan instrumen tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari ketiga subjek visual, auditorial, maupun kinestetik yang memiliki kemampuan penalaran matematika paling baik yakni subjek bergaya belajar visual. Kemampuan penalaran matematika yang dimiliki subjek visual termasuk kategori tinggi karena memiliki kemampuan memahami masalah, membuat rencana, melaksanakan rencana, dan mampu menuliskan kesimpulan dengan kesalahan menjawab dua soal. Sedangkan subjek auditorial dan kinestetik memiliki kemampuan penalaran matematika sedang, kedua subjek ini mampu memahami masalah, membuat rencana, dan melaksanakan rencana dengan baik. Hanya saja pada kemampuan menarik kesimpulan kedua subjek ini masih kurang tepat dan kesalahan dalam menjawab dua soal.

Abstract

Metacognition plays an important role in problem-solving activities. It will help students to find what the problem is and understand how to get the solution. This study aimed at describing the student's metacognition process based on Keirsey's personality types. This research used qualitative method with descriptive approach and it was conducted involving eight students who have equal mathematical abilities and the same gender. The selected students represented Keirsey’s personality types. They were carried out through two types of tests, namely the Keirsey Temperament Sorter and the Mathematics Ability Test. The result showed that each personality type could through indicators of the metacognition process. However, there are some indicator components missed. Rational and idealist student have not been able to carry out the metacognition process in the regulation stage properly. Guardian and artisan student have been able to carry out the metacognition process well. This study suggests the teacher can facilitate students in each personality type by determining the appropriate learning model, learning activities, and assessments to obtain better results.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the heuristics of female junior high school students in solving number pattern problems. Two subjects were selected through the provision of a mathematical ability test (TKM) and a problem-solving test (TPM 1) in class VIII E of SMP AL-Hikmah 2 Benda. The instrument used for problem solving test (TPM 1 & 2), and interview guide. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that female students used heuristics to make systematic lists, guess & check, and use models in solving number pattern problems. In addition, female students use their visual representation skills by making guide lines that are used to find the nth pattern and help use their intuition by counting manually until a developed pattern is found. Female students also use the ability to generalize to get the formula for the nth pattern and use knowledge about the types of number patterns to be able to guess the formula for the nth pattern.

Abstract

The research aims to describe the process and the result of the RME-based comics education on fraction material approach measured by aspects validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The subject of this research were students grade-7 junior high school. This research is development research with the five stages ADDIE model, and they are analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research showed that RME-based comics education is valid, very practically, and effective.

Abstract

Knowing the mathematization process was important for teacher. In solving problem, students were using their mathematization process. This research aimed to describe the horizontal and vertical mathematization process of junior high school students with high mathematical ability in solving contextual problem of fraction. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects was determined by mathematical ability test (TKM). Thirty four students of chosen class were given mathematical ability test (TKM). Then, they were divided into three groups based on the ability which were high ability, medium ability, and low ability group. Researcher took one subject from high ability group to be research subject. Then, researcher gave the profile mathematization process test (TPPM). The semi-structured interview was utilized to invstigate the answered of TPPM. The result of this research were: the high mathematical ability subject passed through all of activity in horizontal mathematization such as; identified the mathematical concept that is relevant to the problema; represented the problem in different ways; found the relations between problem language and the formal mathematic symbol; found the regularities, relations, pattern in problem; transfered the problem into mathematical model. The high mathematical ability subject also passed through all of activity in vertical mathematization such as; used the variety of different representation; used symbols, language, and formal mathematical process; made adjustments and development of mathematical models, combined, and united various models; created a mathematical argument; and generalized.

Abstract

The study aimed to describe the statistical literacy of upper secondary student based on gender differences. There are a gap between female sex is not necessarily feminine and conversely male students are not necessarily masculine, there is a possibility that the person is of type androgyny or indistinguishable. The study was conducted in four students with different gender type that is masculine type, feminine type, androgynous type, and indistinguished type. Data was collected using the Statistical Literacy Test, developed based on the statistical framework about statistical literacy ability with indicator of understanding data, interpreting data, and communicating data. The result with quantitave and qualitative research revealed significant differences statistical literacy based on gender differences. In this study shows that the feminine type has the highest statistical literacy skill between other gender types in understanding data, interpreting data, and communicating data. In understanding data, the feminine type can read data and supported with arguments that are easily understood. In interpreting data, feminine type are able to make predictions of future possibilities, can determine the value of increase and decrease in data, able to think critically about the data presented and able to make conclusions based on the data. But, in communicating data feminine type make mistakes in changing the shape of data from graphs to table forms. Then, statistical literacy ability followed by androgynous type. Then, the lowest statistical ability in the masculine type and the cannot be distinguished type.

Abstract

Mathematics literacy becomes an important component to be able to build 21st century skills. Indonesian culture contexts is used because culture is closely related to the environment and daily lives of students. The aim of this research was to describe the achieving level of mathematics literacy of students using Indonesian culture contexts. This was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Four students in eighth grade with high mathematical ability and average mathematical ability were chosen to be the subjects from this research. The data was collected by test and interview. The instrument in this research was mathematics literacy test used Indonesian culture context with level 1 to 6 and interview guidelines. The analysis result showed that A1 and A2 (students with average mathematical ability) can achieve at level 3 mathematics literacy indicators. While H1 (student with high mathematical ability) achieve at level 3 mathematics literacy indicators, then H2 (student with high mathematical ability) can achieve at level 4 mathematics literacy indicators. In this research all of the students still cannot achieve at level 5 and level 6 mathematics literacy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang menerapkan pendekatan open-ended pada materi volume balok untuk meningkatkan kreativitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Kreativitas merupakan salah satu kompetensi yang harus dimiliki dan ditingkatkan oleh siswa oleh siswa pada abad 21.Dengan adanya peningkatan kreativitas siswa, diharapkan juga dapat meningkatkan kemampuan hasil belajar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) mendeskripsikan peningkatan kreativitas matematika siswa kelas V dengan menggunakan pendekatan Open-Ended; (2) mendeskripsikan peningkatan hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas V dengan menggunakan pendekatan Open-Ended. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experiment yang memakai rancangan one group pretest-posttest design, yaitu eksperimen yang hanya dilakukan pada satu kelompok tanpa adanya kelompok pembanding.Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 30 siswa kelas V sekolah dasar.Instrumen pada penelitian ini menggunakan lembar pengamatan aktivitas guru dan siswa, tes kreativitas, dan tes hasil belajar. Data pada penelitian akan dianalisis menggunakan korelasi product moment untuk mengetahui validitas butir soal. Uji reliabilitas butir soal menggunakan rumus Cronbach’s Alpha, sedangakan peningkatan kreativitas dianalisis menggunakan gain score ternormalisasi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan data tentang peningkatan kreativitas dan hasil belajar siswa.Peningkatan kreativitas siswa dapat dilihat dari hasil pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan gain score menunjukkan nilai sebesar 0,72 atau terjadi peningkatakn sebanyak 72% yang tergolong peningkatan kategori tinggi. Pada tes hasil belajar, juga tejadi peningkatan ketuntasan belajar siswa dari 10% menjadi 87%. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) pendekatan Open-Ended dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kreativitas matematika siswa dari kategori cukup kreatif menjadi kreatif dan sangat kreatif; (2) pendekatan Open-Ended dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, yaitu sebesar 77% yang diambil dari data pretest dan posttest.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan permainan tradisional congklak dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan kepercayaan diri siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen kuasi dengan desain analisis kuantitatif. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap siswa kelas 6 UPTD SDN Gunung Kesan 2 Karang Penang, Sampang, Madura, dengan rincian kelas 6 A sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan siswa kelas 6 B sebagai kelompok kontrol. Penelitian dilakukan saat semester gasal tahun akademik 2021-2022. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) ) tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pembelajaran realistik bilangan bulat dengan permainan tradisional Congklak terhadap kepercayaan diri siswa baik pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen dengan perolehan nilai P-value (0,603) > 0,05. Namun, dalam proses pembelajaran siswa kelas eksperimen lebih berani, aktif, dan semangat dalam belajar. (2) terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pembelajaran realistik bilangan bulat dengan permainan tradisional Congklak terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen dengan diperoleh nilai P-value (0,001) < 0,05. Berdasarkan hal itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran realistik bilangan bulat dengan permainan tradisional congklak hanya mampu mempengaruhi hasil belajar siswa dan tidak mempengaruhi kepercayaan diri siswa. Namun, tingkat keaktifan, keterlibatan, dan semangat siswa di kelas eksperimen yang mengunakan permainan tradisional congklak menjadi meningkat drastis dibandingkan siswa di kelas kontrol. Abstract

The change in curriculum aims to improve the quality of content and learning. One of the backgrounds of the curriculum revision is based on international tests on students’ competency and literation, such as PISA. In PISA, literacy-numeracy becomes one of the essential evaluation of mathematics competency. Therefore, the use of literacy problems should be administered in the primary school class. In order to implement the literacy-numeracy problem in the class well, the teachers are required to be able to develop functional literacy problems. This workshop on writing literacy-numeracy for elementary teachers in Ponorogo City was conducted in three stages. The first stage collected the fundamental knowledge of the teachers about what they understand about literacy-numeracy. The second stage was a discussion about the literacy-numeracy and its both background and classroom implementation, especially in elementary school. The last stage was the teachers’ workshop in arranging the literacy-numeracy problems. In the end, the problems developed by the teachers were analyzed based on literacy-numeracy criteria. Besides, the participants also gave feedback using a questionnaire as the information for the effectivity of the workshop.
