Abstract

This study aims to assess the impact of the "Make A Match" learning model on improving problem-solving abilities and mathematical representation among middle school students. Conducted at Mesuji Raya State Junior High School, this quasi-experimental study focused on the entire eighth-grade student body. A sample of 42 students was selected via cluster random sampling. Data analysis was performed using the Manova test with a significance level of 5%. The findings indicate a rejection of H0AB, suggesting a significant influence of the "Make A Match" learning model on enhancing students' problem-solving and mathematical representation abilities. These findings suggest that the "Make A Match" model can be an effective tool in aiding middle school students to improve their mathematical skills. This provides valuable insights for educators in developing learning strategies. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan representasi matematis adalah keterampilan kunci bagi siswa di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama. Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is an essential skill for students to understand mathematical concepts. Many studies have been conducted regarding this ability, but it is necessary to map existing research to provide a clearer picture of future research topics. This study aims to provide a bibliometric review of trends using mathematical representation skills in mathematics teaching research. The method in this study is bibliometric analysis, which aims to analyze and classify bibliographic material by presenting representative summaries of the literature in the Scopus database. The search was carried out using the keyword "mathematical representation" and selecting "article title" in the search menu in the Scopus.com database. Perish or Publish (PoP) software analyzes the author's name, number of document citations, document title, year of publication, document source, publisher, and document type. The results showed 99 publications and 357 citations related to mathematical representations, where the number of publications and citations fluctuated. The application of learning models and approaches, computer media, and analysis of mathematical representations is a research trend related to this variable. Therefore, paying attention to mathematical representations in learning mathematics and using effective strategies to improve students' mathematical representation abilities is essential. The findings of this study indicate the need to develop syntax and learning media based on mathematical representations to strengthen students' mathematical abilities.

Abstract

Kemampuan representasi matematis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Way Bungur masih rendah.

Abstract

The increase in used cooking oil refuse contributes to environmental degradation. A lack of public comprehension and cognizance of waste management also contributes to this. If these actions persist, the water quality will deteriorate, and natural disasters may occur. Every resident of the village of Russia, which encompasses 12,00 km2, generates used cooking oil refuse. As part of the Serumpun Melayu Real Work Lecture (KKN) service activities, used cooking oil is recycled into aromatherapy candles in order to prevent impacts that will harm people's health as well as pollution of ecotourism spots around Rusaba village and to raise awareness about waste processing. On Thursday, August 24, 2023, the service activity occurred in the Rusaba village community hall, Punduh Pedada subdistrict, Peshawar district. Service activities are carried out using socialization and training methods, including conducting surveys and observations, preparing for socialization by coordinating with the village, carrying out socialization activities with material presented through presentations and direct practice, and evaluating activities through questions and responses. Participants considering the socialization activities carried out The implementation of socialization activities for creating aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil waste has proven effective and can be used to increase the number of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) owned by homemakers.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of: 1) cognitive style (Field Independent and Field Dependent) on the ability to understand mathematical concepts; 2) application of the geogebra-assisted cycle 7e learning model on the ability to understand mathematical concepts; 3) the interaction between the learning model group (learning cycle 7E learning model, learning cycle learning model 7E assisted by geogebra and conventional learning model) and the cognitive style group on students' mathematical concept understanding abilities. Quasi experimental design is used as a research method with data collection techniques using concept understanding tests and cognitive style tests. The two-way ANOVA test was used to find answers to the research objectives that had previously been tested for normality and homogeneity tests. Based on the test results, it can be concluded that: 1) The application of the 7E learning cycle learning model with geogebra has a good effect on the ability to understand mathematical concepts; 2) cognitive style has no effect on mathematical understanding ability; and 3) there is no interaction between the learning model group and the cognitive style group on the ability to understand mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Student creativity in the process of learning mathematics is very necessary. The low ability to think creatively will greatly affect the overall learning outcomes. One alternative learning that can be used is the problem posing approach. This study aims to determine whether the Problem Posing approach has an effect on students' mathematical creativity. Quantitative research methods with data analysis techniques using the F test are used in this study. The essay test instrument was used to collect data on students' creative thinking abilities. The results showed an increase in students' mathematical creativity after using the Problem Posing approach. The results showed that the effect of the Problem Posing approach on mathematical creativity was 40.49%, this is in the high category. Based on these results, the problem posing approach can be an alternative for teachers in increasing the creativity of students who are still low.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to carry out all activities, including teaching and learning. The appropriate learning model in this situation is the distance learning model. However, the distance learning model is a new learning model that needs to be socialized and reminded to teachers and student guardians. This community service research aims to conduct distance learning training for teachers and student guardians in Gudung Negara village. The method used was door-to-door socialization to avoid crowds and prevent the spread of Covid-19. Teachers and guardians understood to do activities indirectly and adapted to carrying out learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This community service activity resulted in student guardians supporting schools in conducting learning activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, teachers could design lesson plans, and student guardians could use the Google Meet platform. Based on this community service activity, as a follow-up, it is hoped that policymakers and relevant institutions will take part in mentoring and supporting teachers in managing learning as well as monitoring and evaluating the learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic
