Background: COVID-19 continues to be a global threat. Indonesia has the highest COVID-19 in ASEAN. Objective: This study aimed to analyze COVID-19 cases according to epidemiological and demographic characteristics in South Bengkulu Regency, Indonesia. Methods: This research used quantitative methods with a case-control approach. A sample of 326 people was included as secondary data obtained from the Regional General Hospital of South Bengkulu Regency, Indonesia. The sampling technique uses consecutive sampling. Data (age, gender, education) from medical records in hospitals and epidemiological data (contact records with patients, travel records, and social contact records) were measured using questionnaires validated online (Google form). Chi-square and multiple regression logistics were used for data analysis. Result: Most groups infected with COVID-19 were in the risk age range (46.6%), men (51.2%), low education (48.2%), had a record of contact with patients (54.6%), had a travel record (53.7%), had a record of social contact (51.5%) and had the highest comorbidities such as tuberculosis (36.2%). There were significant relationships between age (p = 0.004), sex (p = 0.002, OR= 2.054), history of contact with the patient (p = 0.001, OR= 2.120), travel history (p = 0.003, OR= 1.959), social contact history (p = 0.003, OR = 2.003), and comorbidities type (p = 0.017) with the incidence of COVID-19. The dominant factor associated with COVID-19 was the record of social contact (p = 0.032, OR = 1.724). Conclusion: The study findings can be used to increase public knowledge about COVID-19 prevention and mitigation efforts as one of the strategies to reduce the risk of COVID-19 events.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding for babies given by mothers turns out to have an important role, namely increasing the baby's body resistance. Therefore, it can prevent the baby from being attacked by various diseases that can threaten the baby's health. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding at the Muara Pinang Inpatient Health Center, Empat Lawang Regency. The method used was analytical survey research with a cross sectional research design, data collected in the form of primary data by distributing questionnaires to mothers who have babies aged> 6-12 months at the Muara Pinang Inpatient Health Center, Empat Lawang Regency using simple random sampling technique as many as 57 mothers. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results of univariate analysis showed that more than half of the mothers had less knowledge, more than half of the mothers had working status, more than half of the mothers with unsupportive attitudes and more than half of the mothers whose families did not support. The results of bivariate analysis there is a relationship between maternal knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.006), there is a relationship between maternal employment status and exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.028), there is a relationship between maternal attitudes and exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.014) and there is a relationship between family support (husband) with exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.026). Researchers suggest to the health center that the results of this study can be used as additional data for the Inpatient Health Center in increasing the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding

Abstract

Intoduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) states that nearly one-quarter of the world's population is infected with the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria, with approximately 89% of tuberculosis cases occurring in adults and 11% in children. Indonesia ranks third globally, with an estimated 9.9 million people suffering from pulmonary TB. In 2023, the Health Office of Bengkulu City reported 686 cases. There were 34 cases of pulmonary TB identified in the Working Area of the Telaga Dewa Health Center in Bengkulu City. The aim of this study is to identify the factors associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB in the Working Area of the Telaga Dewa Health Center in Bengkulu City. Method: The method used is an observational analytic study design with a case-control approach, collecting data through questionnaires distributed to 34 respondents who tested positive for pulmonary TB and 34 respondents who tested negative in the Working Area of the Telaga Dewa Health Center, using Total Sampling technique. Result and Discussion: This study shows that the frequency distribution indicates that the majority of respondents (57.4%) have low knowledge, 52.9% have no history of contact, 44.1% are smokers, 61.8% have inadequate ventilation area, and 72.1% live in adequate housing density. Bivariate analysis results indicate a relationship between knowledge and the incidence of pulmonary TB (P = 0.003), no relationship between contact history and the incidence of pulmonary TB (P = 0.224), a relationship between smoking status and the incidence of pulmonary TB (P = 0.007), a relationship between ventilation area and the incidence of pulmonary TB (P = 0.025), and no relationship between housing density and the incidence of pulmonary TB (P =0.105). Conclusion: community health center staff pay close attention to the complete and clear address data of pulmonary TB patients to facilitate investigations or research on patients with pulmonary TB.
