Abstract

Background: Health literacy is one of the most important factors in improving the quality of life of the community. However, in developing countries such as Indonesia, most people have low levels of health literacy, especially in rural areas. This causes inadequate public health management, so the level of community literacy must be considered when designing health promotion programs. Purpose: To investigate the role of health literacy in enhancing health promotion efforts. Method: A systematic literature review study in the context of cervical cancer prevention promotion using techniques based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). This study used the PICOS framework (Population = General, Intervention = Health promotion, Comparison = Using a comparison group and not using a comparison group, Outcome = Health Literacy, and Study Design = Various research approaches, experimental studies, mixed methods, randomized controlled trials (RCTs), longitudinal multicentric prospective intervention studies, included in the study design). Results: Health literacy plays an important role in health promotion in various countries according to the literature analyzed. The health literacy rate in China increased from 6.48% to 23.1%. The majority of university students in Portugal have limited literacy levels. According to studies conducted in South Korea and Ethiopia, there is a relationship between health information orientation and health behavior. Children and pregnant women in Lithuania and Thailand experienced significant improvements in their health competencies as a result of parental health literacy and participation in special programs. These findings highlight the importance of health literacy improvement strategies implemented at the local level. Conclusion: Health promotion programs tailored to an individual’s health literacy level have been shown to be more effective in increasing community understanding and encouraging behavior changes that support long-term well-being. Suggestion: Additional research is needed to determine the most effective strategies or approaches that can be used to address health literacy gaps across communities, especially in areas with low health literacy.

Abstract

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints, characterized by pain and reduced mobility, which significantly impacts the quality of life of its sufferers. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of an herbal remedy containing ginger, galangal, and lemongrass in reducing pain intensity among Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design. It was conducted in RT 05, Kelurahan Ponorogo, Kecamatan Lubuklinggau Utara II, involving 20 purposively selected respondents. The herbal remedy was administered twice daily for seven days, and pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant decrease in the average pain intensity from 6.5 to 3.0 after the intervention (p < 0.05). The gingerol content in ginger, flavonoids in galangal, and anti-inflammatory compounds in lemongrass were found to play a role in reducing inflammation and joint pain. This herbal remedy is effective, safe, and easily applicable as an alternative therapy for Rheumatoid Arthritis patients, particularly in communities with limited access to pharmacological treatments. The study concludes that the herbal remedy of ginger, galangal, and lemongrass is a potential option in Rheumatoid Arthritis management. Further research is recommended to strengthen these findings.

Abstract

Acute respiratory infections are caused by viruses or bacteria. The disease begins with a fever accompanied by one or more symptoms: sore throat or painful swallowing, runny nose, dry cough or phlegm. If the immune defense in the respiratory tract is weakened, this can increase the risk of more serious bacterial infections, such as sinusitis or otitis media. Medical care that can be provided in case of ARI is symptomatic. In addition to medical care, additional therapeutic care can also be given to patients with ARI. One of the complementary therapies that can be given to patients with ARI is simple inhalation of eucalyptus oil. The design of the scientific articles uses a case study model. The subjects used were two children with ARI. Data analysis was done using descriptive analysis. The results of the application showed that after the application of a simple inhalation of eucalyptus oil, the clearance of the subject's airways was again effective, which was marked by a decrease in RR frequency, lack of accumulation of secretions, and a decrease in crackle noise. Mothers who have children with ARI should be able to do or apply a simple inhalation like the one done by the author to try to thin the mucus
