Abstract

Lack of familiarity among the community, medical workers, and administrative staff regarding reproductive health services covered by Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial (BPJS) or the National Health Insurance (NHI) in Indonesia remained a problem. Therefore, this resulted in sub-optimal use of the medical services, as shown by surveys from the Women's Health Foundation for three consecutive years (2015-2017). This qualitative study was conducted with a Rapid Assessment Procedure design in three cities within Indonesia: Padang Pariaman, Manado, and Kupang. Data were collected through IDIs (n = 47informants) and 6 FGDs (7 persons/group). Participants also consisted of NHI RHS users (mothers and young women), administrative officers at health facilities, medical services providers, and officials related to the NHI assistance. Data were managed using NVivo version 2.0 software, accompanied by thematic analysis. The internal barriers in NHI use included inadequate knowledge of RHS covered by NHI, and a culture of shame in informants. External barriers included additional costs for medicines not covered by NHI, the dissatisfaction of health services provided by medical workers, busy work and household activities, and lack of women's role in decision-making within families, which related to reproductive wellness.

Abstract

Intensi pemberian ASI eksklusif diukur menggunakan kuesioner the Infant Feeding Intentions scale. Sedangkan sikap, norma subjektif dan persepsi kontrol perilaku dinilai menggunakan modifikasi kuesioner Breastfeeding Attrition Prediction Tool. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi logistik ganda. Sebanyak 61,5% ibu memiliki intensi kuat memberikan ASI eksklusif. Exclusive breastfeeding intention is a mother’s intention to provide her baby only breast milk since the infant was born until at the age of 6 months. Intention in prenatal period is the direct affirmation of exclusive breastfeeding. This study aimed to find out the most dominant factor related to exclusive breastfeeding intention among pregnant women at a mother and child hospital in South Tangerang. A cross-sectional study design was conducted primarily. The samples were 143 pregnant women on their third trimester pregnancy selected by purposive sampling. Intention was measured by the Infant Feeding Intention scale questionnaire. Meanwhile, attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control were measured by the modified Breastfeeding Attrition Prediction Tool questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the multivariate logistic regression analysis. It was 61.5% mother had strong exclusive breastfeeding intention. Perceived behavioral control dominantly influenced the exclusive breastfeeding intention (p value = 0.007; Odds Ratio 3.030; 95% CI = 1.361 6.746). The other factors influencing intention were attitude, exposure to exclusive breastfeeding from social media, health workers’ support, previous breastfeeding experience and mothers’ occupation. A mother with high perceived behavioral control has three times more likely to have ‘high exclusive breastfeeding intention’ than those having the low ones.

Abstract

Adolescents aged 10-24 years old are susceptible group to premarital sex, drugs abuse, and HIV/AIDS infection. Papua is the largest contributor to AIDS/HIV number in Indonesia. To overcome such problem, Rutgers WPF formed Dunia Remajaku Seru!(DAKU!), an intervention program towards adolescent reproductive health at senior high school level. This study aimed to determine psychosocial determinants of risky sexual behavior among senior high school students in Merauke District through cross-sectional approach. Samples were 1,364 second grade students that got DAKU!Program and matching process was conducted on schools that did not get DAKU!Program. Data analysis included univariate analysis, bivariate (chi square test) and multivariate (logistic regression test). Results showed that variables significantly related to adolescent risky sexual behavior were peer group with negative behavior, self-efficacy, parents’control, exposure to DAKU!Program and sex. Meanwhile, based on multivariate analysis, peer group with negative behavior (RP = 4.7 CI = 2.8 - 7.7) was the most dominant factor influencing risky sexual behavior.

Abstract

In dense and slum areas, parents often have to share bedroom with their children, so the children have been exposed to sexual activity since early. This study aimed to determine residential density, parents’ sexual activity and its effects to teenage sexual behavior in Yogyakarta. This study used cross-sectional design by interviewing 268 families that had teenagers as selected randomly in urban slum areas and rural areas on March – May 2015. Data was analyzed using chi-square test and multivariate cox-regression. Results showed that parents living in dense residence had risk two times higher to commit sexual activity which had negative effect on their children. Parents’ sexual activity did not have any influence to risky sexual behavior among teenagers. Factors significantly related to risky sexual behavior among teenagers are male sex, negative attitude and influence of peers. Health agency and primary health care should improve counseling programs for teenagers and train peer counselors. Activities which have been conducted at schools should be expanded to risky areas, such as urban slum area with high density of residence.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: East Aceh is one of the districts in Aceh Province that has a low rate of routine vaccination of children, especially in a pandemic situation. It is essential to research to understand more about the challenges in providing vaccination services due to COVID-19. Methods: This study used a qualitative approach with Rapid Assessment Procedure. Data was collected in three Puskesmas in East Aceh with the lowest vaccination coverage areas. The targeted participants in this study were: Caregivers, Health workers, Community cadres, Vaccine coordinators, and Vaccine advisors. Result: The phenomenon of COVID-19 vaccine refusal influenced caregivers’ to also refuse routine vaccination. Husband or father had a big role in determining whether children could get vaccinated. Caregivers were also afraid of vaccine side effects and vaccination methods using syringes as they often heard negative rumors about it. The lack of influential figure support also affected communities' perception of vaccination. On the other hand, several things might influence caregivers to bring their children to get vaccinated. Regular reminders from village midwives might influence caregivers to visit posyandu to get their children vaccinated. Good knowledge of the benefits of immunization for children is also important to raise caregivers’ awareness. Conclusion: This study recommends stakeholders and health professionals improve routine immunization programs, particularly in pandemic situations. The findings are anticipated to guide the creation of health campaign strategies encouraging caregivers to bring their children in for vaccinations.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools as religious-based educational institutions have an important role in shaping the character and personality of students. However, increasingly intensive interactions in the dormitory environment and social pressure between students often create conditions that are vulnerable to bullying behavior, both verbal and physical. This study highlights the impact of bullying on the mental health of students in the Islamic boarding school environment, where intimidation behavior can trigger anxiety disorders, depression, and decreased self-esteem. Methods The study used a systematic review method using PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis). database search by searching for articles from 3 databases, namely Google Scholar, Science Direct and Scopus. Obtained 162 articles with the keywords "Impact of Bullying", "Mental Health", and "Boarding School". Bullying victims experience various psychological disorders, such as trauma, stress, fear, and the desire to leave the Islamic boarding school. Bullying also has a direct effect on increasing depression, anxiety, and decreased self-esteem of victims. In addition, negative emotions such as anger and the urge to take revenge can cause victims to become perpetrators, creating a continuous cycle of revenge. Bullying victims often show signs of anxiety, loss of enthusiasm for learning, and difficulty rebuilding a sense of security in their social environment.Bullying in the Islamic boarding school environment has a significant impact on the mental health of students, including trauma, anxiety, stress, and decreased self-esteem. In addition, some victims show defensive behavior that develops into aggression, creating a cycle of revenge. The long-term effects of bullying not only affect psychological well-being, but also disrupt the social and academic lives of victims. Therefore, a comprehensive approach is needed in the form of emotional support, protection, and effective policies to minimize the negative impacts of bullying in the Islamic boarding school environment.

Abstract

A total of 62% of food waste comes from household waste in the world. In Indonesia, as much as 40.3% of food waste is recorded as waste generation in 2020. This problem of food waste arises from a diverse set of household behaviours. This study aims to analyze the behaviors that lead to food waste in households using Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). This research is using the Systematic Literature Review research method. The search was conducted using three databases namely Google Scholar, Pubmed, and ScienceDirect. The keywords used were ‘food waste’, ‘behavior’, and ‘household’. The inclusion criteria of this study were articles published since the last 5 years using English. Articles were screened using the PRISMA Framework. Food waste behaviour in household sector can occur due to various factors such as demographic, consumptive behaviour, food management knowledge and skills, psychological and consumer perceptions, and environmental and accessibility in community. The discovery of factors causing food waste through the SCT and TPB theoretical approach can help in planning more optimal and targeted health promotion interventions.
