Abstract

The formulation and physical characterization of translucent solid soap preparations from turmeric rhizome juice (Curcuma domestica Val.) have been carried out. The manufacture of translucent soap was carried out by varying the concentration of turmeric rhizome juice from 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6% into the soap formula. The multi-physical tests of translucent soap preparations included organoleptic tests, pH tests, water content tests, foam stability height tests, irritation tests and preference tests. The obtained turmeric rhizome squeezed translucent soap had good characteristics and met the requirements as translucent soap because it had good hardness, appropriate water content, pH between 9-11, and good foam stability. The results of the skin irritation test of soap preparations of all concentration variations did not find any side effects in the form of redness, itching and roughness on the volunteer's skin so that all soap preparations with various comparisons were safe to use. The results of the preference test which included color, translucency, texture and aroma showed that on average the panelists liked the soap preparation with a turmeric rhizome juice concentration of 2%.

Abstract

Telah dilaksanakan pengadian kepada masyarakat Desa Kolam, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara berupa pelatihan pembuatan permen sehat ginger candy dengan penambahan pewarna alami untuk meningkatkan imunitas tubuh. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah penerapan teknologi tepat guna dalam membuat permen sehat. Evaluasi kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan dengan memberikan tes awal dan tes akhir menunjukkan kegiatan pembuatan permen sehat ginger candy dengan penambahan pewarna alami pandan di Desa Kolam telah berhasil dilakukan yang dibuktikan dengan terjadinya peningkatan pemahaman peserta kegiatan. Peningkatan pemahaman peserta dapat dilihat dari nilai tes kuisioner. Rata-rata terjadi peningkatan sebesar 75% dari rata-rata nilai tes awal sebesar 4,60 menjadi 7,96 pada tes akhir. Dari Tabel 1 diketahui beberapa peserta kegiatan meningkat hingga 100% pemahamannya setelah diberikan pelatihan. Dengan demikian kegiatan pengabdian telah efektif meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat mitra dalam memanfaatkan jahe dan pandan menjadi permen sehat yang dapat meningkatkan imunitas tubuh.

Abstract

Kanker paru-paru terjadi karena pertumbuhan sel kanker yang tidak terkendali dalam jaringan paru. Di indonesia kanker paru menduduki urutan ketiga dengan jumlah kejadian 34.783 kasus. Kemoterapi merupakan pengobatan anti kanker yang dapat menghancurkan sel tumor dengan cara mengganggu fungsi sel. Pengobatan kemoterapi pada pasien kanker paru beragam dilakukan berdasarkan stadiumnya, yaitu dengan pembedahan, radioterapi dan kemoterapi, sesuai dengan standar dari National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), Food and drug Administration (FDA), European Medicines Agency (EMA) dan European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO). Kemoterapi ini diberikan dalam beberapa tahap biasanya 4-6 siklus dan bahkan ada yang seumur hidup. Pemberian kemoterapi ini dengan setiap 21 hari agar mendapatkan efek yang diharapkan dengan efek samping yang masih wajar dan dapat diterima. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan cross section secara retrospektif. Pengumpulan obat pasien kanker paru-paru diambil dari rekam medis pasien periode bulan Januari-Desember 2023. Sampel pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 42 pasien yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa obat yang digunakan oleh 42 pasien kanker paru-paru di RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Kota Medan periode Januari-Desember 2023 adalah vinorelbine 52 obat (32,7%), karboblatin 43 obat (27%), gefitinib 25 obat (15,7%), paclitaxel 12 obat (7,5%), cisplatin 7 obat (4,4%), docetaxel 7 obat (4,4%), pemetrexed 7 obat (4,4%), giotrif 6 obat (3,8%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa obat paling banyak digunakan oleh pasien kanker paru-paru di RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Kota Medan adalah vinorelbine dan karboplatin. Kata Kunci: Kanker paru-paru, kemoterapi, obat kemoterapi, pengobatan kanker paru-paru.

Abstract

Red betel leaf (Piper ornatum N.E.Br) is one of several plants that have antibacterial properties so that it can be selected as an active ingredient in deodorants because of its effectiveness as an antibacterial. Red betel leaf contains secondary metabolites, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins and essential oils. The purpose of this study was to determine the formulation of ethanol extract of red betel leaf (Piper ornatum N.E.Br) made in the form of a deodorant stick preparation with good characteristics and to determine the concentration of the deodorant stick preparation in inhibiting Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. The study was conducted experimentally including the manufacture of extracts by the maceration method. In this study, ethanol extract of red betel leaf with concentration variations of 1, 2 and 3%. The preparation was tested for organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, melting time, melting point, and antibacterial activity. The content of the phytochemical screening results of the ethanol extract of red betel leaf showed that there were flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and triterpenoids so that they have the potential to inhibit bacteria. The resulting deodorant stick meets the requirements of pH test, melting time test, melting point test and has bacterial inhibitory activity. At a concentration of 1% it is categorized as moderate with an inhibition zone of 6-10 while for a concentration of 2% and 3% it is categorized as strong with an inhibition zone of 10-20 mm.

Abstract

Nanopartikel merupakan salah satu hasil dari teknologi nano yang berkembang pesat. Sabun dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi penyakit, seperti penyakit kulit yang disebabkan oleh bakteri dan jamur. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memutus ikatan protein pada bakteri sehingga dapat menghambat pertumbuhan dan aktivitas antibakteri sediaan sabun padat terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan True Experimental Design. Tahapan penelitian meliputi pembuatan ekstrak, pembuatan nano ekstrak, skrining fitokimia, pembuatan sabun padat, dan evaluasi mutu fisik sabun padat yang terdiri dari uji organoleptik, uji pH, uji stabilitas, uji kekerasan, dan uji daya bersih. Serta uji aktivitas antibakteri sabun padat terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dengan masing-masing konsentrasi yaitu F1 (Blanko), F2 (1,25%), dan F3 (12,5%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak mahkota nanas mengandung senyawa kimia berupa alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin, saponin, steroid, dan glikosida. Hasil pengujian ukuran partikel menunjukkan bahwa nano ekstrak memiliki ukuran 76 nm. Aktivitas antibakteri sabun padat terhadap Staphylococcus aureus menunjukkan bahwa pada konsentrasi F1 memiliki efektivitas yang kuat dengan diameter zona hambat sebesar 13,61 mm; pada konsentrasi F2 juga menunjukkan efektivitas yang kuat dengan diameter zona hambat sebesar 16,46 mm; dan pada konsentrasi F3 menunjukkan efektivitas yang kuat dengan diameter zona hambat sebesar 19,38 mm dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus. Abstract

Tabir surya merupakan sediaan kosmetika yang digunakan untuk melindungi kulit dari paparan sinar matahari, sehingga mencegah terjadinya gangguan kulit karena terpapar sinar matahari. Tujuan untuk mengetahui mutu simplisia, metabolit sekunder, ekstrak etanol kulit alpukat, karektristis sedian lotion serta aktifitas tabir suraya ekstrak kulit alpukat dan lotion ekstrak etanol kuliat alpukat melalu pemantaun mutu nilai SPF. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini metode eksperimental. Pada ekstrak etanol kulit alpukat dan lotion ekstrak etanol ditentukan nilai SPF dengan spektrofotometri UV. Yang diukur pada panjang gelombang 290-390nm dengan interval 5 nm evaluasi mutu fisik dilakukan terhadap uji organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar dan daya lekat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simplisia kulit alpukat memiliki kadar air 4,7%kadar sari larut dalam air 25,5% kadar sari larut dalam etanol 22,6 % kadar abu total 3,55%, kadar abu tidak larut asam 0,5 % secara keseluruhan memenuhi standar MMI, dengan kandungan senyawa kimia berupa golongan flavonoid, saponin, dan triterpenoid. Uji SPF sediaan lotion ekstrak etanol kulit alpukat dibuat pada konsentrasi 0,3%; 0,36%; 0,48% dengan hasil berturut-turut 9,974; 9,934; 18,8. Organoleptis sediaan lotion secara keseluruhan memiliki bentuk kental dengan warna kecoklatan serta aroma mawar, pH homogen 6, viskositas lotion 1000ppm: 7740Cp; 3000ppm: 2310Cp; 4000ppm: 5890Cp; 5000ppm: 8770 daya sebar lotion dari konsentrasi 3000ppm: 4cm; 4000ppm: 6cm; 5000ppm: 7cm, daya lekat lotion dari konsentrasi 3000ppm: 4,12 dtk; 4000pm: 4,39 dtk; 5000ppm: 4,48 dtk.

Abstract

Aloe vera (Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f.) can make the skin not dry quickly and feel moisturised. Soothing gel works effectively to restore skin moisture, provide comfort and a cooling effect on red and irritated skin so that the skin condition returns to normal, and prevents skin dryness. The aim of the study was to determine the various secondary metabolites in aloe vera leaf extract to determine differences in concentrations of aloe vera leaf extract in soothing gel preparations on the physical characteristics of the preparations and to determine physical changes before and after stability tests were carried out using the cycling test method. The research method was used experimental, with the independent variables varying the concentration of aloe vera leaf extract 0% (blank), 1%, 2%, and 3%, the dependent variable secondary metabolites and physical characteristics. The sample preparation method is wet sorting and other methods used are phytochemical screening, viscometry, and cycling tests. The results of the phytochemical screening showed that aloe vera leaf extract contains secondary metabolites of flavonoids, glycosides, tannins, saponins, and steroids.

Abstract

Transparent soap is a type of soap that appears clear and attractive, with a finer foam. Carrots are one of the plants that contain compounds that can naturally moisturize the skin. The chemical compounds in carrots that can be used as skin moisturizers are present in high amounts. The aim of this study is to formulate transparent soap using carrot Juice as a skin moisturizer. The transparent soap formulation was made using carrot Juice at concentrations of 4%, 6%, and 8%. The evaluation of the transparent soap formulation included organoleptic testing, moisture content testing, foam height testing, pH testing, irritation testing, and hedonic testing. The results showed that the 8% concentration had the highest moisture content, at 14.45%. The highest foam height measurement was also observed at the 8% concentration, with an average of 8.3. The highest pH level was recorded at 8% concentration, with a value of 9.34. Skin analyzer testing indicated that the highest skin moisture level was achieved at 8% concentration, reaching 48%. The transparent carrot Juice soap met the standards set by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) in terms of organoleptic properties, moisture content, foam height, pH, skin analyzer results, irritation testing, and hedonic testing. The conclusion of this study is that carrot Juice can be formulated into transparent soap that meets SNI requirements.

Abstract

This compound has antibacterial effects, especially against Propionibacterium acnes, which are gram-positive bacteria that cause acne. Anti-acne masks effectively prevent acne by disrupting the growth or killing bacteria through inhibiting microbial metabolism. This research is experimental in nature with Independent Variables: Extract, pineapple tuber simplicia, essence preparation, and nano essence sheet mask. Dependent variables include the physical characteristics of the preparation, as well as anti-acne activity. The extract was made using the maceration method, and then the antibacterial test of the extract was conducted. The preparations were subjected to physical quality tests, irritation tests, and antibacterial tests using the disc method. Orientation test results for the antibacterial activity of pineapple tuber extract against Propionibacterium acne s using the agar diffusion method with disc paper, namely, 3.25% (4.1 mm), 6.25% (4.9 mm), 12.5% (6.4 mm), 25% (7.5 mm), 50% (7.8 mm). The concentration of the preparation was obtained at 12.5% and then tested by PSA ( Particle Size Analyzer ). All particles were below 1000 nm, meeting the requirements. The results of the antibacterial activity test of the preparation showed the following inhibition zones: Blank (0 mm), Essence (9.5 mm), Nano Essence (11.13 mm), Comparator (25.3 mm), Clindamycin (32.3 mm). Abstract

Candy serves as a high-calorie source often consumed during activities such as working, exercising, and studying. Typically, the most common candies available in the market are soft candies with a chewy texture. When made with real fruit juice, these candies can provide additional nutrients, minerals, and vitamins to the body. This study aimed to formulate marshmallow candy using red grape juice (Vitis vinifera L.) as the main ingredient, with variations of sucrose and honey, to create a product with appealing taste, texture, and nutritional value suitable for both children and adults. The study also evaluated the physical quality of the formulated marshmallow candy. Methods: This experimental research utilized the open pan method to produce marshmallow candy. The evaluation included organoleptic tests (shape, color, aroma, taste, texture), pH testing, weight uniformity analysis, moisture content measurement, ash content determination, and hedonic testing involving 15-21 panelists. Results: All formulations (F1, F2, F3) met physicochemical quality standards, with a pH of 5, moisture content of 6.5-8.1%, ash content of 1.3-1.8%, and weight variation coefficients of 2.55-2.73%. Based on hedonic testing, formulation F2 (5 g sucrose + 44 g honey) was the most preferred, receiving the highest scores for taste, shape, and texture. Conclusion: Red grape juice was successfully formulated into marshmallow candy that meets standard physicochemical quality requirements. The combination of sucrose and honey significantly influenced product characteristics, with F2 being the optimal formulation based on consumer preference. This study contributes to the development of functional food products using natural, nutrient-rich ingredients.
