Abstract

This study aims to describe employees’ work–life balance profiles by measuring work–family conflict (WFC) using the unidimensional scale developed by Gutek et al. (1991). A total of 118 employees participated in an online survey. The results show that 70% of respondents were categorized as experiencing high WFC, 28% moderate WFC, and only 2% low WFC. Female employees and those who were married appeared more frequently in the moderate and high conflict categories, indicating a greater tendency to experience interrole strain compared to other groups. These findings highlight that work–family conflict remains a prominent and substantial experience among employees in the increasingly flexible and digitalized post-pandemic work context

Abstract

Purpose: This program aims to enhance the understanding of the Sekupang community, particularly fishers and small business owners, in utilizing digital technologies to support their economic activities. Through digital literacy training, participants are expected to access real-time market and weather information and leverage digital media to pro mote and market their products more effectively. Methodology/approach: The activity was conducted through a partnership between the Batam Institute of Technology and the Indonesian Traditional Fishermen’s Union. Participants consisted of fishers from Sekupang District, Batam City, Kepulauan Riau Province. The methods included lectures to introduce digital literacy concepts, group discussions to explore participants’ understanding, and hands-on simulations. A pre-test was administered to measure participants’ initial knowledge. Results/findings: The program improved digital literacy across five dimensions and was highly relevant to participants’ needs. More than 90% rated the training clear and useful, while 93% confirmed direct benefits such as using apps for weather and market information and utilizing social media and marketplaces to expand sales. The program successfully translated digital literacy into practical solutions for Sekupang’s fishers and households. Conclusions: This community service program successfully improved digital literacy among fishermen and housewives in Sekupang through relevant practical training, with participant satisfaction exceeding 90%, highlighting the importance of digital literacy for coastal communities. Limitations: The activity did not provide in-depth guidance on the practical application of digital literacy, leaving participants’ skills limited in some areas. Contribution: This program strengthened the foundational digital literacy skills of traditional fishers, supporting them in adopting digital technologies to enhance fishing practices and improve economic resilience.

Abstract

Purpose: This program aimed to strengthen digital financial literacy among youth in Batam, focusing on safe and practical savings and investment strategies that are aligned with current technologies. Methodology/approach: The community service program (PKM) was conducted in three stages: preparation (materials, partner coordination, outreach), implementation (talks, hands-on use of e-wallets/auto-debit/micro-investing apps, discussions), and evaluation (pre- and post-questionnaires and feedback). Results/findings: Most participants rated the materials as clear and useful, and many reported better knowledge and readiness to adopt digital saving and try beginner-friendly instruments introduced during the session. The participants represented diverse ages and education levels and included students and MSMEs. Conclusions: The PKM program effectively enhanced digital financial literacy and motivated participants to manage their finances in a modern context. Most participants clearly understood the material, found it relevant, and showed improved knowledge and readiness to save and invest digitally. Despite challenges related to time constraints and varying levels of digital literacy, the program positively influenced the adoption of wise financial behavior in the technological era. Limitations: Short duration, varied baseline literacy, and intermittent Internet access limited deeper practice; long-term behavioral outcomes were not tracked. Contribution: The PKM effectively improved essential competencies in digital money management and encouraged prudent technology-enabled behaviors among youth. We recommend follow-up coaching and long-term monitoring to consolidate saving habits and safe, small-ticket investing.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ spatial literacy based on the Van Hiele levels of thinking in the topic of geometric transformations among eleventh-grade students at MAN 2 Palu. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with three students from class XI C as the subjects, selected based on the results of the Van Hiele thinking level test, each representing the visualization, analysis, and informal deduction levels. Data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis procedures. The findings show that students’ spatial literacy varies according to their thinking levels. Students at level 0 (visualization) have fairly good visualization skills but remain weak in reasoning and communication. Students at level 1 (analysis) demonstrate good spatial literacy in terms of visualization and reasoning, although their communication skills are not yet supported by logical justification. Students at level 2 (informal deduction) show strong spatial literacy across all indicators, including visualization, reasoning, and communication. Overall, the results indicate that higher Van Hiele thinking levels correspond to higher spatial literacy in solving geometric transformation problems.

Abstract

Sea turtles are endangered marine species facing increasing anthropogenic pressures in coastal areas, highlighting the need for local community involvement, particularly among young people, in conservation efforts. This study aims to analyze the forms of youth participation as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing their involvement in sea turtle conservation at Lowita Beach, Wiring Tasi Village, Pinrang Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through field observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving six key informants directly engaged in conservation activities. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that youth participation is manifested through contributions of ideas, labor, skills, provision of supporting facilities, and self-funded financial support. Such participation is supported by community environmental awareness, the presence of youth communities as collective platforms, and moral support from the village government. However, youth participation continues to face constraints, including limited resources, low motivation among some youth, coastal environmental pollution, and illegal sea turtle hunting practices. Theoretically, these findings underscore the role of youth as agents of change in community-based conservation. Practically, the study recommends strengthening institutional and policy support for youth communities to ensure the sustainability of sea turtle conservation in coastal areas.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between husband and wife, both of whom are pesantren alumni, in building a sakinah (harmonious) family in Temuasri Village, Sempu District, Banyuwangi Regency. As alumni of Islamic boarding schools, santri couples possess religious knowledge, social values, and life experiences that significantly contribute to maintaining household harmony. Despite coming from different pesantren backgrounds, differences in routines and habits can be resolved through practices such as mutual service, support, and the application of pesantren teachings in daily life. These principles include strengthening tarbiyah, reminding each other of goodness, and fulfilling respective rights and responsibilities. The concept of kafa’ah (compatibility) in the aspect of religion also plays a crucial role in ensuring family tranquility. A deep understanding of religious teachings provides a strong foundation for couples to face household challenges and social influences. By practicing pesantren values such as communal prayer, Qur'anic recitation, and respecting differences, santri couples can foster harmonious relationships. Furthermore, their experiences in pesantren, which teach adaptability to various characters and cultures, help them manage differences and strengthen family bonds. In conclusion, the combination of religious knowledge, pesantren experiences, and the application of kafa’ah principles enables santri couples to achieve a sakinah family. This harmony not only inspires the couples themselves but also serves as an example for the surrounding community on the importance of religious values in family life.
