Abstract

This research aims to analyze writing skills learning using Riau culture-based modules in elementary schools. This research approach is descriptive qualitative. Data was obtained through observation, interviews and document analysis. The research results show that there are variations in the implementation of learning modules between schools, with some schools already using modules that integrate digital technology, while other schools still use conventional methods. Integrating local culture in learning to write has a positive impact on students' understanding of the richness of their own culture. However, the fact is that Riau culture has not been utilized optimally as a learning resource. This research suggests developing a more varied Riau Cultural Literacy E-Module so that it can be implemented better

Abstract

Reading comprehension is a substantial skill in elementary school. If children have the skill to read, facing other lesson would be easy. This study employs a quantitative descriptive method that aims at explaining numbers in words. The result showed that the average of students' reading skill after being exposed to graphic organizer-based reading comprehension teaching materials in determining the basic thoughts was of 63.75, and students' skill in explaining information was 71.04. At this stage, their skill was considered good enough, so that an improvement to design teaching materials and trainings should be facilitated for the teachers.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the positive and significant correlation between mathematics self- efficacy and motivation of elementary school students. This type of research is quantitative using the correlation method. The population of this research was all fifth grade students of Elementary School in Cluster I of Marpoyan Damai District in Pekanbaru, which totaled 705 students. The research sample consisted of 183 students who were selected using cluster techniques. Data collection was carried out using a mathematics self-efficacy questionnaire and a motivation questionnaire and documentation, and the hypothesis was tested using the product moment correlation test and t test. The results showed that there was a positive correlation between mathematics self-efficacy and motivation of fifth grade elementary school students, indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.353 with a fairly strong relationship category, and there was a significant correlation between mathematics self-efficacy and motivation of fifth grade elementary school students, as seen from the tcount = 5.078, greater than ttable = 1.653, at a significance of 5%. The contribution made mathematics self-efficacy to motivation is equal to 12.5%.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of an approach to improve elementary school students’ critical thinking skills. The approach is called MIKIR that stands for mengalami (experiencing), interaksi (interaction), komunikasi (Communication), internalisasi (internalization), and refleksi (reflection). This research was conducted at a public elementary school in Pasir Penyu District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Indonesia. The subject of this research was 23 fourth grade students. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental method. The experimental design used in this study was pre-test and post-test one group design. The results of the study obtained an average pretest score of 22.13 and an average posttest score of 27.70 from a maximum score of 36. Based on these results, the score increased by 5.57 points or 20.10%. The overall average N-gain value of 0.41 with moderate criteria, so that the MIKIR approach can improve fourth grade students’ critical thinking skills. This result was supported by the results of student learning activities and student responses to learning with the MIKIR approach obtaining an average of 84.6% with a very good category.

Abstract

This research purpose determines the effect of learning facilities and family environment on motivation to learn of prospective elementary teacher on online learning. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The data used are primary data obtained directly from filling out a questionnaire by 180 prospective elementary teacher education from a public University, Riau province, Indonesia. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of learning facilities and family environment on motivation to learn of prospective elementary teacher in learning during Pandemic, with the results of testing with the F test that obtained an F value of 21.272 with a significance value of F of 0.000 or a sig F value of <0.05. The multiple regression test results show that the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.440 or 44%.

Abstract

This research in background by the importance of good mathematical connection ability must be mastered by elementary students as one of the goals of learning mathematics. The purpose of this study, namely: 1) describe and compare between students who received learning Accelerated Learning Cycle and Conventional Learning to the ability of mathematical connections; 2) describe and compare the ability of mathematical connections and students' early mathematical abilities. This research is a quasi experimental research with experimental design in the form of group comparison. In this research plan the sample used consisted of two groups, where in each group applied different learning. The first group (experimental group) received learning Accelerated Learning Cycle, the second group (control group) applied conventional learning. The research location is in SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru which is a medium category school. Categories are becoming the researcher's choice, because the schools in this category are mostly schools in Pekanbaru City. Based on the results of data processing, analysis, and discussion that has been presented, obtained the conclusion, namely: 1) improvement of mathematical connection ability of students who obtained learning with Accelerated Learning Cycle better than students who received conventional learning. Where the average mathematical connection ability of students who get Accelerated Learning Cycle (experimental class) is 22.78, while the average mathematical connection ability of students who obtain conventional learning (control class) is 17.03; 2) There is no significant difference in mathematical connection ability of students who obtained learning with Accelerated Learning Cycle in terms of students' mathematical ability. The significance value of equivalence test of mathematical connection data of control class students and experiment class, this is indicated by the significance value of both categories is more than 0.025. Whereas in the initial ability of low category, the significance value less than 0.025, so the null hypothesis is rejected, which means the mathematical connection ability of the experiment class students is better than the control class.
