Abstract

The problem that is often experienced in learning chemical bonds topics is that students do not know the benefits of learning chemical bonds in everyday life, one of the causes is because the teaching materials used have not been able to link the material with contextual examples, real problems in everyday life, and the lack of opportunities for students to conduct investigations, making the learning less meaningful. This research aims to produce valid student worksheets based on the Nature of Science (NoS) on chemical bonds topics and determine user response. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) using the 4-D development model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The data collection instruments were validation sheets and user response questionnaires for teachers and students. The data analysis method in this research was carried out quantitative and qualitative data description. The results indicated that the developed student worksheets based on the Nature of Science (NoS) were deemed valid, with an average validation score of 96.12% from 3 validators. One-on-one trials were conducted with 3 students with different abilities to gather feedback for improvements. The user response test was conducted to 2 chemistry teachers and 20 students (10 students from SMAN 4 Pekanbaru and 10 students from SMAN 1 Pekanbaru), yielding response percentages of 90.06% from teachers and 90.84% from students, both categorized as very good. So, it can be said that these student worksheets have good potential to be used in learning chemistry, especially on topics related to chemical bonds.

Abstract

Kimia adalah proses ilmiah yang sebaiknya diajarkan melalui aktivitas langsung sebagai salah satu bentuk pendekatan keterampilan proses. Kegiatan praktikum merupakan salah satu kegiatan yang sangat berperan dalam meningkatkan keberhasilan proses belajar mengajar. Laboratorium beberapa sekolah di kecamatan XIII Koto kampar berada pada keadaannya kurang baik, sehingga tidak dapat digunakan sebagai penunjang kegiatan pembelajaran. Permainan merupakan salah satu alternatif media pembelajaran yang saat ini telah banyak digunakan pada semua kalangan dalam bidang pendidikan. Pendekatan konsep kimia melalui permainan dianggap akan lebih memudahkan peserta didik dalam menghubungkan konsep kimia yang ada dengan permainan yang telah mereka lakukan. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru dan menambah inovasi serta kreativitas guru sains di Kecamatan XIII Koto Kampar dengan cara memberikan pelatihan tentang penerapan permainan kimia dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Team-Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model in improving the learning outcomes of Grade XI students on hydrocarbon material at State Senior High School 2 Dumai. The research employed a randomized control group pretest-posttest design, involving two groups selected randomly, an experimental group that applied the TAI model and a control group that used discussion-based learning. A test on hydrocarbon concepts was administered to both groups before and after the treatment to measure student performance. The data were analyzed using a t-test at a 0,05-significance level. The results showed that the calculated t-value of 5,24023 exceeded the t-table value of 1,6664, indicating a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. These findings suggest that the cooperative learning type of the Team Assisted Individualization is more effective in enhancing the learning outcomes of students compared to the discussion method previously used in the class. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh self efficacy terhadap hasil belajar kimia peserta didik kelas X di SMAN 15 Pekanbaru. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain korelasi. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan angket self efficacy yang terdiri dari 20 butir pernyataan dan hasil belajar kimia diperoleh dari dokumentasi. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas X. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 155 orang. Penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi dengan bantuan IBM SPSS 31. Dari hasil analisis diperoleh sig. 0,001, nilai Pearson correlation sebesar 0,411 dan koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,169. maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa hasil penelitian ini terdapat pengaruh positif sedang dan signifikan antara self efficacy dengan hasil belajar kimia, serta self efficacy memberikan pengaruh sebesar 16,9% terhadap hasil belajar kimia dan sisanya 83,1% adalah faktor lain yang tidak dapat dijelaskan pada penelitian ini.

Abstract

Centella asiatica (L.) Urb. is a plant known for its potential in scar treatment due to the presence of asiaticoside, a compound capable of promoting skin cell tissue repair. However, the large molecular size of asiaticoside hinders its penetration through the skin. This study aims to evaluate the effect of gelatin and propylene glycol on the transdermal penetration of asiaticoside from a gel formulation containing Centella asiatica leaf extract. Four different formulations were tested: a control (F1, without gelatin or propylene glycol); one with 15% propylene glycol (F2); one with 4% gelatin (F3); and one with 4% gelatin and 15% propylene glycol (F4). The physical characteristics of the formulations were assessed using several parameters: organoleptic properties, pH, homogeneity, centrifugation, spreadability, viscosity, and rheological behaviour. Penetration studies were performed using a Franz Diffusion Cell with a Whatman No. 1 membrane (pre-coated with Spangler solution) for 360 minutes. The penetration data were analyzed using Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) with a C18 BEH column (2.1 × 50 mm; 1.8 μm particle size). The results showed that each formulation exhibited distinct characteristics. The study findings indicated that both gelatin and propylene glycol, as well as their combination, significantly influenced the penetration of asiaticoside in the gel formulation. Propylene glycol, functioning as a penetration enhancer, was found to increase the penetration of asiaticoside in both gelatin-based and liquid formulations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan model pembelajaran Introduction, Connection, Application, and Reflection (ICARE)  dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep peserta didik padak pokok bahasan larutan penyangga. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan desain randomized control pretest-posttest, yang dilakukan terhadap dua kelompok yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep peserta didik kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dari pada kelompok kontrol, yaitu memiliki rata-rata 62,94 pada kelompok eksperimen dan 42,55 pada kelompok kontrol. Selain itu peningkatan uji n-gain juga berada pada kategori tinggi yaitu 0,92 yang artinya penerapan model pebelajaran ICARE dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep peserta didik. Peningkatan tertinggi untuk indikator pemamahan konsep terdapat pada indikator memberi contoh dan non contoh dari konsep dengan nilai n-gain 0,9, yang menunjukkan peserta didik mampu mengaitkan konsep secara konkret. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran ICARE tidak hanya efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep, tetapi juga berkontribusi dalam menciptakan pembelajaran yang bermakna, reflektif, dan berorientasi pada pembangunan kapasitas peserta didik untuk berpikir kritis dan berkelanjutan dalam menghadapi tantangan masa depan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement and category of improvement in students' understanding of the concept of buffer solutions by applying the Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model. The form of this study is an experimental research with a Randomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population of this study is all students of class XI MIPA SMAN 7 Pekanbaru for the 2024/2025 school year. The research sample was students in class XI MIPA 1 as an experimental class and students in class XI MIPA 2 as a control class. The experimental class was given the treatment of the application of the SSCS learning model, while the control class was given learning without the SSCS model. The results of the data hypothesis test analysis technique used the right-hand t-test. Based on the analysis of research data, it was obtained that the tcount of 2.07 was greater than the ttable of 1.67 (dk = 67, α = 0.05) with the category of increasing students' understanding of concepts of 0.74 in the high category. The results of the study show that the Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model can improve students' understanding of the concept of buffer solutions in class XI MIPA SMAN 7 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The need for post-pandemic alternative media development in chemistry learning at school is the goal of this research. This study uses a research and development model. Alternative learning media developed in the form of website-based learning using Google Sites. Two media experts validated the material content, and the media content was validated by two additional media experts. Validation was carried out twice. The results of media validation in this study included the substance of media content, learning design, visual communication, and the use of software by media validators, with percentages of 98.44%, 98.75%, 93.75%, and 97.92%, respectively. The average score of 97.21% falls within the valid category. The results of material validation, based on aspects of content feasibility, pedagogical aspects, language assessment, and graphics, by the material validator, namely 95.83%, 95.83%, 100%, and 100%, with an average score of 97.91%, are included in the valid category. The trial was carried out at MA Hidayatul Marifah with 20 students. The results of teacher and student responses, respectively, were 92.17% and 90.12%, which were included in the good category.

Abstract

This study aims to produce a valid and usable CORE-based E-LKPD on hydrocarbons. This study was conducted at two schools, namely SMAN 6 Pekanbaru and SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. The study was motivated by students' difficulties in learning chemistry, particularly the hydrocarbon material, due to the teaching materials used being monotonous, poorly designed, and failing to utilize the rapidly advancing technology available today. This study includes validation and limited testing. This study used an R&D development research design with a modified 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) into a 3-D model (Define, Design, Develop). The research results based on validation by content validators regarding content suitability, CORE characteristics, language, presentation, and graphics, respectively, achieved suitability scores with an average of 100%, indicating validity. Meanwhile, the validation results by media validators based on the aspects of appearance and software utilization had a feasibility score of 98.43% on average. The results of the responses from chemistry teachers and limited group trials obtained average percentages of 98.75% and 87.49%, respectively, with valid criteria. This shows that the CORE-based E-LKPD on the subject of hydrocarbons is practically used as teaching material in the learning process and students are more interested in learning hydrocarbon material.
