Abstract

Young Muslim retail investors in the Indonesian capital market often face challenges stemming from various behavioral finance biases that can negatively impact their investment decisions. This study examines the influence of behavioral finance biases—herding, overconfidence, mental accounting, loss aversion, and status quo bias—on the investment decisions of novice Muslim retail investors in Indonesia. It further explores the moderating effects of demographic factors including generation, gender, education, and income. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 318 respondents through a structured questionnaire, with 310 valid responses analyzed using multiple regression and moderation analysis via Hayes’ PROCESS macro in SPSS. The results indicate that all five behavioral biases negatively affect investment decisions, and demographic variables significantly moderate these effects. These findings underscore the importance of financial education and advisory services tailored to both behavioral tendencies and Islamic financial values to support informed decision-making among young Muslim investors. Despite its demographic limitations, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of behavioral finance within the Islamic finance context.======================================================================================================== ABSTRAK - Bias Perilaku dalam Investasi Ritel Syariah: Peran Moderasi Demografis.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors on firm value, focusing on companies in Asia from 2019 to 2022. Using a quantitative approach with a sample of 919 companies (resulting in 3,676 observations), this study employs moderated regression analysis (MRA) to examine the relationships. The findings reveal a significant impact of ESG factors on firm value, highlighting their relevance in the contemporary business landscape. Moreover, this study identifies a crucial yet underexplored aspect: the moderating role of firm size in the relationship between ESG factors and firm value, particularly within the Asian context. The results suggest that while ESG factors are universally influential, their effects may vary depending on firm size. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of corporate sustainability practices and align with key theoretical perspectives, including signaling theory, stakeholder theory, and legitimacy theory. The study underscores the importance of transparent communication and ESG disclosure in enhancing firm value.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the impact of digital technology on lecturers’ performance in higher education institutions. The analysis focuses on five key indicators: learning enhancement, teaching effectiveness, academic leadership, infrastructure readiness, and the availability of syllabi and lesson plans. Methodology: A mixed-methods approach was adopted, involving both quantitative and qualitative data collection. Questionnaires were distributed to 64 lecturers, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with selected participants. The instruments assessed lecturers’ attitudes, behaviors, and the extent of digital technology adoption across teaching, research, and community service activities. A Likert scale was used to measure the level of digital technology acceptance. Main Findings: The findings show that although many lecturers are still in the process of understanding and adapting to digital transformation, the use of digital technology has significantly improved their effectiveness and efficiency. It has also increased learning flexibility and student engagement through more interactive and accessible educational environments. Key supporting factors identified include institutional infrastructure, academic leadership, and supportive policies. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge by exploring the multifaceted influence of digital technology on lecturers' performance. It highlights the critical role of institutional support in facilitating sustainable digital integration in higher education, particularly in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the influence of collaborative strategy, co-innovation, and empowering government on regional performance in poverty alleviation in West Java. Addressing empirical, theoretical, and research gaps, the study seeks to bridge existing literature by examining these relationships in a context where prior research is limited. Employing a descriptive and verification design with a quantitative approach, data is collected through questionnaires distributed to the Poverty Alleviation Coordination Teams (TKPKD) across 27 regencies and cities in West Java. The study utilizes non-random quota sampling and processes the data using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to ex-plore both direct and mediated effects among the variables. The anticipated results suggest that collaborative strategy positively influences re-gional poverty alleviation performance, both directly and indirectly through the me-diating roles of co-innovation and empowering government. Additionally, the study expects to reveal that geopolitical factors, government policies, and bureaucratic leadership significantly shape the implementation of collaborative strategies in the region. This research makes a novel contribution by addressing a significant empirical gap in the study of collaborative strategies in poverty alleviation within West Java.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to meticulously explore the moderating effect of financial literacy on the influence of neurotransmitters on investment bias. As a pioneering effort in behavioral finance, this research highlights cognitive and psychological aspects of investors, focusing specifically on female investors, and represents the first study to integrate financial literacy as a moderating variable in the context of neurotransmitter effects. Methodology: A quantitative approach was employed, targeting female stock investors in Indonesia. Purposive sampling was used alongside a semantic differential scale. Data were collected through the distribution of closed-ended questionnaires, preceded by instrument testing and a pre-survey. A total of 581 respondents participated, and data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) Main Findings: The main findings reveal that financial literacy negatively affects investment bias, indicating that greater financial knowledge tends to reduce behavioral bias. However, even financially literate individuals may still exhibit bias. Furthermore, neurotransmitter activity shows a significant positive effect on investment bias, suggesting that biological factors amplify biased decision-making. Importantly, financial literacy significantly moderates this relationship in a negative direction, meaning that higher levels of financial understanding weaken the influence of neurotransmitters on investment bias. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research contributes novel insights to the development of behavioral finance theory by introducing financial literacy as a moderating factor in the biological–psychological pathway influencing investment behavior. The practical implications highlight the critical role of financial education in reducing behavioral biases in investment decision-making, especially among female investors.
