Abstract

Generation Alpha, born in 2010 and onwards, is the first generation to fully grow up in a digitally connected world. They are highly exposed to technology, from smart devices to social media, which have become an inseparable part of their lives. However, although technology offers various benefits such as faster access to information and opportunities for creativity, major challenges also arise, such as the risk of dependence on technology, decreased social skills, and exposure to unverified information. Therefore, technology education is a very important element in preparing Generation Alpha to face the challenges of the 21st century. This article aims to analyze the role of technology education in shaping the character and skills needed by Generation Alpha. The main focus of this discussion is on digital literacy, where children are not only taught how to use technology, but also invited to understand basic concepts such as digital ethics, privacy, and critical information management. In addition, this article also explores how technology education can contribute to character building, such as increasing creativity, problem solving, cooperation, and social responsibility. Through a literature review referring to previous research, this article highlights the importance of collaboration between parents, teachers, and the community in assisting children in managing the use of technology. Technology-based education must ensure that children not only master digital tools and devices, but also have strong social and emotional skills to be able to interact with the world positively. Thus, the right technology education will prepare Generation Alpha to become creative, critical, and adaptive individuals to changes that occur in global society.

Abstract

Phonetics, a crucial subfield of linguistics, has seen substantial advancements, particularly in educational contexts. This systematic literature review aims to identify and synthesize emerging trends in phonetics research from 2019 to 2024, focusing on acoustic and articulatory phonetics, phonetic ear-training, and the use of technological tools in teaching. By examining 15 key studies from an initial pool of Utilizing tools like Publish or Perish, with database crossreff (1000) and google schooler (500) and total 1500 (n=15) studies to explore how orthographic inputs affect L2 learners' speech perception, production, phonological awareness, and lexical learning.this review highlights significant advancements such as Communicative Pronunciation Teaching (CPT) and network-based learning modes, which have shown to enhance phonetic instruction effectively. However, challenges remain, including the variability in access to technology and limited research on the long-term impacts of phonetic training. The findings suggest that integrating innovative pedagogical approaches with technological tools can significantly improve phonetic education, thereby enhancing language learning outcomes. This study underscores the importance of personalized teaching strategies and the need for further research into the long-term effects of phonetic training, aiming to contribute to the development of more effective and accessible phonetic learning methods. The implications of this research extend beyond phonetics, suggesting that similar integrative approaches could be beneficial in other areas of language education, thus promoting better educational outcomes on a larger scale.

Abstract

Cooking oil contains fatty acids made from high-quality vegetable oil so it can be used for environmentally friendly food products. However, repeated heating processes can damage the molecular structure of the oil. So that it can cause several negative impacts such as on health if consumed too often and damage to the ecosystem in the surrounding environment if disposed of carelessly. To overcome these negative impacts, cooking oil waste can be processed into products such as laundry soap. This community service activity was carried out to educate the community, especially those in Gebang Village, Pesawaran Regency, about the dangers of repeated heating of cooking oil, as well as to provide alternatives to process it into more useful products. The results of this community service activity showed an increase in understanding for participants, this can be seen from the increase in the post-test scores worked on by participants and from the results of discussions during the activity.

Abstract

Conventional biotechnology is a topic in the science curriculum that is often delivered only theoretically in the classroom. This community service activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding and skills in applying biotechnology concepts through a yoghurt-making training at MTs Baabussalam, Gading Rejo Subdistrict, Pringsewu Regency, Lampung Province. The training was conducted on February, 19th, 2025, and attended by 28 students and two accompanying teachers. The stages of this activity included preparation, implementation, and closing. During the implementation phase, the activities carried out included a pre-test, a briefing session, demonstrations by the service team, hands-on practice by students, discussion and Q&A, and a post-test. The yoghurt was made by mixing pasteurized milk and plain yoghurt as a starter in a 1:4 ratio, followed by fermentation for 1–2 days. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in the students' average score from 53.2 (pre-test) to 84.6 (post-test). Students also showed high enthusiasm during the practice and gained a more concrete understanding of the fermentation process. This activity demonstrates that a practice-based approach is effective in enhancing students' understanding while also introducing them to simple entrepreneurship through fermented products.

Abstract

Bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp.) is one of the commonly used spices in cooking, known for enhancing the taste and aroma of food as well as offering health benefits. This study aims to identify the phytochemical content of bay leaves. The extraction method employed was maceration using 96% ethanol. The bay leaves were dried through aeration until the moisture content reached below 10%. The dried samples were then homogenized using a homogenizer to obtain a fine powder. The resulting powder was macerated with 96% ethanol. The obtained extract was then qualitatively tested for its phytochemical contents, including alkaloids, saponins, steroids, flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, and phenolics. The results showed positive reactions for alkaloids with three reagents (Mayer, Boucardon, and Dragendorff), indicated by the formation of white, orange, and brown precipitates. Flavonoids were detected by a yellowish-green color change, while saponins produced stable foam. Tannins, steroids, and phenolics showed a dark green coloration, indicating the presence of these compounds. In contrast, the test for terpenoids yielded negative results. These findings indicate that bay leaf extract contains various secondary metabolites with potential antioxidant, antimicrobial, and other pharmacological activities. Abstract

Learning environments with high-pressure demands require students to possess resilience as a crucial capacity to adapt and persist through academic and social challenges. However, a lack of resilience among students often emerges as a fundamental issue that affects their learning outcomes and well-being. Resilience is influenced by several internal factors, particularly emotional health and learning readiness. This study aims to examine the influence of emotional health and learning readiness on student resilience in social studies learning. Employing a quantitative approach with a fact-exposure (ex post facto) design, the study uses multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship among variables. The sample consists of 76 junior high school students selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that (1) emotional health significantly affects student resilience, as indicated by a t-value of 2.621 and a p-value of 0.011; (2) learning readiness has a stronger significant influence on resilience, with a t-value of 11.703 and a p-value of 0.001; and (3) jointly, emotional health and learning readiness positively affect student resilience in social studies learning, as evidenced by an F-value of 112.909 and a significance level of 0.001. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.756, indicating that 75.6% of the variance in student resilience is explained by the two predictors. These results imply that educators and school institutions should prioritize strategies that enhance students' emotional well-being and preparedness to learn, in order to strengthen their resilience and support their academic success in demanding learning contexts
