Abstract

The increasing intensity of rainfall in Palembang City has heightened the risk of hydrometeorological disasters, particularly flooding and inundation. Despite various efforts by the municipal government to mitigate these events, flooding continues to occur following episodes of high or prolonged moderate rainfall. This study analyzes flood mitigation strategies with focus on community participation in addressing recurring inundation. Data from a flood distribution map reveal 196 flood points across the city, with flood heights ranging from 20 to 50 cm, occurring on average 10-15 times annually and typically receding within 2 to 4 hours though longer durations are observed in several sub-districts. Surveys and interviews conducted in 18 sub-districts identified key contributing factors, including drainage obstruction due to waste, sedimentation, vegetation, unauthorized construction, limited catchment areas, and inadequate drainage connectivity. Additional challenges include diminished retention pond capacity caused by vegetation overgrowth, functional conversion, embankment erosion, and topographical disadvantages such as low-lying terrain. The study proposes the optimization and restoration of drainage infrastructure, community empowerment in catchment area management, and the installation of additional pumps and automated sluice gates as integrated solutions. These measures aim to enhance water flow and reduce the frequency and impact of flooding in Palembang City.

Abstract

The sugar industry, in addition to producing cane sugar, also produces molasses which is the by-product of the sugar bleaching process. This waste still contains a lot of sugar ± 56%. and organic acids. The purpose of this study was to use molasses as a substrate for A. xylinum to be developed as an indicator of banana freshness. Cellulose produced from molasses substrate can be used as material for placing indicators. Freshness indicator has a working principle by observing changes in fruit freshness that are detected due to changes in pH in atmospheric conditions that are increasingly acidic as a result of metabolic activity. The freshness indicator of bananas from cellulose from 20% molasses substrate has different results of changes in the color of the freshness indicator. The method used in this research to apply the BTB compound to the cellulose sheet produced from molasses to be applied to 3 types of bananas (ambon, kepok and raja). Indicators affixed to plantains reach the indicator color change faster than ambon and kepok. Changes in this indicator are in line with physical and chemical changes in bananas which indicate a decrease in freshness. Both in terms of physical and chemical degradation.

Abstract

Green accounting and material flow cost accounting are approaches in accounting that are a manifestation of the company's concern in managing environmental impacts in its operational activities. This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of green accounting and material flow cost accounting on profitability in mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2019-2023 period. The research method used is quantitative with an associative approach. This study takes a sample of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2019-2023 period using secondary data obtained through the annual report and sustainability report for the 2019-2023 period and the data is tested using descriptive statistical analysis, classical assumption test in the form of normality test, multicollinearity test, autocorrelation test and heteroscedasticity test, regression analysis test linear and hypothesis tests in the form of determination coefficient test (Adjust R2), t test and F test. The results obtained from this study are normally distributed data. Partially, green accounting has a significant effect on the company's profitability. Meanwhile, material flow cost accounting partially does not show a significant influence on profitability. Simultaneously, green accounting and material flow cost accounting together affect the company's profitability. The determination coefficient test showed that some of the variation in profitability could be explained by the two independent variables, while the rest was influenced by other variables. These results reinforce the importance of the comprehensive application of environmental accounting practices in the planning and management of the company's operational activities, especially in the mining industry sector that has a major impact on the environment.
