Abstract

This study develops and validates a contextually grounded Integrative Learning model that effectively bridges global multicultural education frameworks with Indonesian local wisdom to enhance cultural sensitivity among junior high school students. in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The research addresses the gap between multicultural education theory and practical implementation in diverse cultural contexts. Using Research and Development (R&D) methodology, this study encompasses three phases: preliminary study, development, and testing. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires involving teachers and students from six schools in West Lombok. The preliminary findings indicate that current social studies instruction lacks integration of local cultural values and multicultural perspectives. The developed model incorporates Sasak local wisdom and employs Fogarty's curriculum integration framework, utilizing multiple integration patterns including connected, nested, sequenced, shared, and webbed approaches. Validation by experts and field testing demonstrate the model's feasibility. Pre-experimental design with one-group pretest-posttest was employed to measure effectiveness across three implementation sites: SMPN X (n=28), SMPN Y (n=26), and SMPN Z (n=31). Statistical analysis revealed significant improvements at all sites with paired samples t-tests showing p-values of 0.020, <0.001, and 0.010 respectively. Normalized Gain (N-Gain) analysis yielded consistent "Medium Gain" results with mean scores of 0.5120, 0.5030, and 0.4980. This research contributes to social studies pedagogy by providing a contextually relevant model that bridges global competencies with local cultural preservation, demonstrating scalability and readiness for broader implementation in transforming how cultural sensitivity is cultivated in Indonesian educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of the angklung extracurricular activity as a medium for strengthening nationalism character based on the third principle of Pancasila at SMP Pasundan 1 Bandung. This research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of the extracurricular supervisor, teachers, and students who actively participated in the angklung extracurricular activity. Data collection was carried out using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the angklung extracurricular activity plays an important role in instilling national values ​​among students, including introducing national culture, fostering pride in national identity, developing the values ​​of togetherness and unity in accordance with the third principle of Pancasila, and increasing awareness of cultural preservation. Although there are several obstacles, such as limited practice time and the influence of popular culture, this activity continues to make a significant contribution to the development of students' nationalism character. Therefore, the angklung extracurricular activity functions not only as an artistic activity but also as an effective medium of character education in fostering the spirit of nationalism among the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of state authorities in the song lyrics of Balada Gehel by Dongker and examine its function as a form of critical citizenship expression. The research employs a qualitative approach using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) by integrating the frameworks of Teun A. van Dijk and Norman Fairclough. The data consist of song lyrics, audiovisual documentation, and contextual sources related to Indonesia’s socio-political conditions in 2020. The findings reveal that state authorities are represented through degradative metaphors, institutional delegitimization, and emotional contrasts that reflect criticism of power practices. Furthermore, the song functions as a medium of civic expression that expands democratic participation through popular culture. The study suggests that punk music has significant potential as a contextual learning resource for fostering civic sensibility and civic responsibility within Citizenship Education.
