Abstract

Artikel ini didasari pada isu perubahan kurikulum yang akan terjadi di tahun 2022. Kemdikbudristek mengeluarkan kurikulum baru mulai tahun 2022 yang dinamakan dengan Kurikulum Prototype 2022. Kurikulum Prototype adalah nama kurikulum baru 2022 yang akan diterapkan untuk semua jenjang.  Dalam hal ini, timbul berbagai cerminan dari berbagai guru di sekolah tentang kurikulum yang digunakan saat ini dengan kurikulum yang akan berganti di tahun ajaran berikutnya. Dalam pespektif ini, Indonesia barangkali dipandang sudah harus dan cukup mampu melakukan gebrakan itu melalui perubahan kurikulum. Tahun 2016, secara resmi keluar peraturan pemerintah baru guna menyelesaikan persoalan yang timbul. Dengan datangnya regulasi baru ini, dilakukan  penelitian  kuantitatif kepada  guru  tentang  persepsi  guru  mata  pelajaran  Seni  Budaya terhadap Kurikulum 2013 Revisi 2016 di SMAN 1 Garut. Dalam penelitian ini melibatkan guru Seni Budaya sebagai sumber untuk mendapatkan informasi berbagai hal mengenai penerapan kurikulum tersebut. Dimana dalam persepsinya kurikulum yang saat ini digunakan dianggap kurang matang persiapannya dan kurang sesuai dengan prinsip kurikulum seperti kurangnya relevansi sumber bahan ajar dan prinsip kontinuitas atau kesinambungan saat proses mengajar. Oleh karena itu, diharapkan untuk kurikulum baru yang akan datang khususnya untuk mata pelajaran Seni Budaya konsentrasi materi seni musik dan seni lainnya dapat memenuhi prinsip relevansi, fleksibilitas, kesinambungan, kepraktisan dan efektivitas. Sehingga terhindar dari keraguan pemahaman saat memberikan ilmu.

Abstract

AbstractThis study explores the preference for Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and its influence on the musical aesthetics of students majoring in Music Technology. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach with a practice-based research framework, the research involved active students at the Music Study Program, School of Art and Design Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of students’ digital music works. The findings reveal that DAW selection is influenced by a combination of technical, pedagogical, and creative factors, with Studio One being the most preferred. The features most utilized by students include mixing effects, MIDI sequencing, and preset plugins. Approximately one-third of the students acknowledged that DAW significantly impacted the structure and aesthetic style of their works, while others emphasized personal identity over technological influence. These results indicate that DAWs act not only as production tools but also as mediators of musical thought and expression. The study suggests the necessity of pedagogical frameworks that encourage both technical proficiency and critical reflection in digital music education. The findings also highlight the need for curriculum development that provides students with diverse DAW platforms to support artistic exploration and identity formation. Key Words DAW, music technology, musical aesthetics, digital creativity, music education AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi preferensi penggunaan Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) dan pengaruhnya terhadap estetika musikal mahasiswa aktif Program Studi Musik yang mengambil Minat Studi Musik Teknologi. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan kerangka practice-based research. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket terbuka, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan dokumentasi karya musik digital mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan DAW dipengaruhi oleh kombinasi faktor teknis, pedagogis, dan kreatif, dengan Studio One menjadi platform yang paling dominan. Fitur yang paling sering digunakan mahasiswa meliputi efek mixing, editor MIDI, dan preset plugin. Sekitar sepertiga mahasiswa mengakui bahwa DAW berkontribusi signifikan dalam membentuk struktur dan gaya estetika karya mereka, sedangkan sebagian besar lainnya menilai bahwa identitas musikal pribadi lebih berpengaruh. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa DAW berperan tidak hanya sebagai alat produksi, tetapi juga sebagai mediator dalam berpikir dan mengekspresikan ide musikal. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pengembangan kurikulum musik digital yang menyeimbangkan penguasaan teknis dengan refleksi kritis terhadap penggunaan teknologi. Abstract

This study explores the process of creating a musical composition titled "Salen-Log Counterpoint" as an effort to adapt the aesthetics of Sundanese karawitan music within the format of a Western orchestral ensemble. The work was developed as part of an intercultural approach within the field of contemporary music composition. The aim of this study is to reveal the artistic process and technical strategies involved in transforming karawitan musical idioms into the systems and organology of the orchestra. This research employs a practice-based method, involving Wallas’ four-stage model of the creative process: preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. The findings indicate that a contrapuntal approach combining pelog, salendro, and Western tonal systems can produce a distinct new sound texture, despite presenting technical and interpretative challenges. Adjustments in notation and playing techniques are key to maintaining a balance between aesthetic concepts and musical feasibility. This study contributes to the discourse on intercultural composition and the creative practice of integrating traditional aesthetics into contemporary musical works.

Abstract

Purpose: Indonesia faces the challenge of globalisation that can erode cultural identity, especially among the younger generation. Technological developments and foreign cultural influences often cause a shift in values and threaten the sustainability of local wisdom. This study confirms the urgency of revitalising local wisdom values in music education as an effort to maintain the nation's cultural identity amid global dynamics. Research methods: This paper uses a qualitative descriptive method with an in-depth literature analysis approach. Data were collected from various academic sources such as books, scientific journals, and research articles both in print and online. The analysis process was conducted systematically by reviewing, interpreting, and synthesising various perspectives found in the literature in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the concept of Silih Asah, Asih, Asuh in music learning. Results and discussion: The concept of Silih Asah, Silih Asih, and Silih Asuh in Sundanese culture offers a fundamental approach to character building through music learning. Silih Asah encourages intellectual strengthening and creativity through musical exploration, Silih Asih instils the value of empathy and compassion through togetherness in music, while Silih Asuh fosters mutual guidance and responsibility in the learning process. Implication: By integrating the concepts of Silih Asah, Silih Asih, and Silih Asuh in music learning, education can be a strategic means to form a generation that is intellectually intelligent, has emotional sensitivity, and moral integrity. This study confirms the urgency of revitalising local wisdom values in music education as an effort to maintain the nation's cultural identity amid global dynamics.

Abstract

Using the Gamelan Degung Sunda application as an alternative instructional medium has proven effective in addressing the challenges posed by the limited availability of gamelan instruments in higher education settings. The demand for flexible and efficient solutions in developing performance skills for Gamelan Degung has driven the integration of digital technology into arts education. This study adopts a qualitative approach using a case study method, employing direct observation and in-depth interviews with students who engaged with the application as part of their learning process. The findings indicate that the Gamelan Degung Sunda application effectively enhances students' understanding of musical structure and fundamental techniques in playing Gamelan Degung Sunda. It also significantly improves accessibility by enabling students to practice independently outside formal classroom sessions. Moreover, the application fosters active learning, despite its limited content scope, which does not fully represent the complexity of karawitan (Sundanese classical music). These findings underscore that integrating digital technology into arts education is not merely a short-term solution to infrastructural constraints but represents an innovative approach to cultivating adaptive and participatory learning experiences. The practical implication lies in the application's role as a pedagogical aid within academic environments that lack adequate facilities. Academically, the study opens avenues for developing digitally-based arts curricula and further investigating the effectiveness of application-based instructional media within the context of arts education in the digital transformation era. Future application developments are recommended to include more complex instructional content and comprehensive integration within technology-oriented arts study programs.Digitalisasi Gamelan Degung: Aplikasi Berbasis Android untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Musikal di Pendidikan TinggiAbstrakPemanfaatan aplikasi Gamelan Degung Sunda sebagai media pembelajaran alternatif terbukti mampu menjawab tantangan keterbatasan instrumen gamelan di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Kebutuhan akan solusi yang fleksibel dan efisien dalam mengembangkan keterampilan memainkan Gamelan Degung mendorong integrasi teknologi digital dalam proses pendidikan seni. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, melalui observasi langsung dan wawancara mendalam terhadap mahasiswa yang menggunakan aplikasi tersebut dalam pembelajaran. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi Gamelan Degung Sunda efektif dalam mendukung pemahaman struktur musikal dan teknik dasar dalam bermain Gamelan Degung Sunda, sekaligus meningkatkan aksesibilitas mahasiswa untuk berlatih secara mandiri di luar kelas formal. Aplikasi ini juga memotivasi proses belajar secara aktif, meskipun masih memiliki keterbatasan dalam cakupan materi yang belum merepresentasikan keseluruhan kompleksitas karawitan Sunda. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi teknologi digital dalam pembelajaran seni bukan hanya solusi jangka pendek atas keterbatasan sarana, tetapi juga pendekatan inovatif dalam menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang adaptif dan partisipatif. Implikasi praktisnya terletak pada pemanfaatan aplikasi ini sebagai alat bantu pedagogis dalam lingkungan akademik yang memiliki keterbatasan fasilitas. Sementara itu, implikasi akademiknya membuka peluang untuk pengembangan kurikulum seni berbasis digital serta kajian lebih lanjut mengenai efektivitas media pembelajaran berbasis aplikasi dalam konteks pendidikan seni di era transformasi digital. Abstract

This study explores the utilization of n-Track, a digital audio workstation (DAW), as a collaborative tool in private music education. Unlike conventional music learning tools, n-Track enables real-time digital collaboration between teachers and students, facilitating asynchronous learning. This study presented a novel approach by utilizing mobile based DAW technology to enhance both in person and virtual music instruction, making it more accessible and interactive. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, data was collected through observations and interviews with students engaged in n-Track-based learning. Thematic coding was used to identify recurring patterns and themes in the data, providing insights into the app’s impact on student and teacher interaction. The findings indicate that n-Track enhances student engagement, supports independent practice, and improves teacher-student interaction efficiency. Key features such as multitrack recording, MIDI sequencing, and real-time feedback facilitate structured musical arrangements and instrumental skill development. This study also highlights the importance of digital literacy among educators to maximize the benefits of technology in music education. Despite limitations in the free version of n-Track, it remains effective in fostering creativity and autonomy in music learning. This research contributes to the advancement of digital music pedagogy, emphasizing the role of DAWs in modern music education.

Abstract

This study investigates the configuration and functional capabilities of the Quick Sampler feature within Logic Pro X, focusing on its application in audio sample processing for music composition. Utilizing a qualitative content analysis approach based on Krippendorff’s methodology, the research systematically examines key components of Quick Sampler, including Synth Mode, Mod Matrix, and Mapping Section, to evaluate their roles in enhancing workflow efficiency and creative flexibility. Data were gathered from direct interface analysis, supported by documentation and user experience reports. The findings reveal that Quick Sampler’s intuitive drag-and-drop interface, combined with flexible sample modes, simplifies the sampling process, while the Mod Matrix facilitates complex modulation routing that expands sound design possibilities. Although the study is descriptive and qualitative, it highlights Quick Sampler’s potential to streamline compositional processes within digital audio workstations. Future research is recommended to quantitatively measure user efficiency and to compare Quick Sampler’s performance with other DAWs, as well as to explore its optimization for specific music genres.

Abstract

Band music learning at SMAN 8 Bandung often faces obstacles, such as limited rehearsal time, difficulty understanding song structures, lack of appropriate backing tracks and lack of rhythmic accuracy and coordination between band members. Music teachers need innovative strategies to overcome these challenges and improve students' competence in playing music. One solution that can be applied is the utilization of the Moises AI application, which allows for more flexible and interactive instrument separation, tempo setting, and rehearsal. This study aims to analyze music teachers' strategies in utilizing Moises AI to improve students' competence in band music practice. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the use of Moises AI helped students more easily understand song structures, improve rhythm accuracy, and develop creativity and improvisation in music playing. In addition, the strategies applied by teachers include exploration of AI features, project-based exercises, and collaborative approaches to learning. With the right strategies, Moises AI becomes an effective tool in enhancing students' learning experience. Therefore, music teachers are advised to more actively integrate AI technology to create innovative, interactive and effective music learning.

Abstract

This research explores the intricate relationship between psychoacoustic parameters and microphone selection for soundscape recording, drawing inspiration from foundational concepts introduced by Schafer and Cage. Motivated by the need to comprehend the influence of psychoacoustic dimensions—specifically frequency, sound intensity, and time—on the choice of microphones for capturing auditory environments, the study adopts Liu and Kang's systematic literature review method. This approach entails a comprehensive analysis of diverse sources to identify knowledge gaps and establish a robust theoretical foundation. The primary aim is to offer practical guidance to professionals and researchers in the field of soundscape recording. Findings underscore the efficacy of a cardioid condenser stereo microphone that aligns with the analyzed psychoacoustic parameters. This study not only contributes to advancing practices in soundscape recording but also deepens our understanding of the intricate dynamics between soundscape, psychoacoustics, and sound recording devices. By recognizing the significance of Liu and Kang's methodology, the research serves as a foundation for future experimental designs and field testing. Acknowledging Liu and Kang's contributions, the study highlights the pivotal role of their systematic literature review method in shaping the research landscape, underscoring the importance of methodological rigor in advancing our understanding of complex auditory phenomena. This research provides a comprehensive overview of the nuanced relationship between psychoacoustic parameters and microphone selection for soundscape recording, contributing to the broader discourse in the field of auditory research. Abstract

Tarawangsa traditional music in Sukaluyu Village, Sumedang Regency, has undergone a significant transformation due to the community’s social, cultural, and religious dynamics. Once a sacred function in the Bubur Sura ritual that contains elements of belief in Dewi Sri and ancestors, this art has now shifted to become a medium for entertainment, therapy, and public performances. This study aims to examine the changing function of Tarawangsa in the context of contemporary Sukaluyu society. The method used is qualitative-descriptive, with data collection techniques through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with artists and local communities. The results showed that shifts in community values, the influence of globalization, and changes in religious orientation have led to the cessation of the main ritual practice since 2018. Nevertheless, Tarawangsa has survived through thanksgiving performances, healing ceremonies, and cultural activities in local media and art festivals. These findings confirm that Tarawangsa is a dynamic and adaptive cultural heritage, with strong preservation potential when managed in a contextual and participatory manner.
