Abstract

This research aims to determine factors affecting students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in learning English at SMPIT Al-Fityan School Gowa. The researcher applies mixed-methods research to achieve the research objectives. The data was collected in the form of a questionnaire and an interview. The subjects of this study were eighth-grade students of SMPIT Al-Fityan School Gowa. The sample of the questionnaire had 52 students and the interviews were with 6 students who were taken using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the data analysis showed that students of SMPIT Al-Fityan School Gowa have high motivation and the dominant affecting factor of students’ motivation in learning English at SMPIT Al-Fityan School Gowa is intrinsic motivation. The intrinsic factors that affect students’ motivation are curiosity, control, competition, and cooperation.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine whether the use of the Plotagon Application is effective in enhancing students’ English Presentation skills. The researcher used a pre-experimental as a research design. This research focuses on a single group pre-test and post-test which asks students to present in front of the class on the topic of daily activities. This research was conducted at SMP Telkom Makassar in the eighth grade with a total population of 230 students. The sample was class VIII B with a total of 30 students selected using a random sampling technique. The findings from this study showed that the mean score of pre-tests was 68.11 and post-test was 84.55, this means that the score was increased after the sample received treatment and based on the paired sample on sig. value (2-tailed) was 0.00 < 0.05. It can be concluded that the use of the Plotagon application is effective in enhancing students' English presentation skills.

Abstract

This research aims to find out students' perceptions of difficulties, advantages and disadvantages in using ChatGPT and how ChatGPT enhance students' English writing ability. The subject of this research was five English students of Universitas Negeri Makassar. The interview was used as the main instrument to collect the data. The results of this research showed that all five subjects experienced an improvement in their writing ability, especially in terms of improving vocabulary, structure, grammar, explaining ideas well, reviewing and correcting, where this was due to ChatGPT helping them in a way that when the subjects asked something, ChatGPT would immediately provide explanations and examples. However, the level of improvement varies depending on how often and consistently it is used. This research contributes to the understanding of how ChatGPT improves writing skills. Essentially, the findings focus on students' perceptions of using ChatGPT as a writing aid. Although the results of this study emphasize more on students' understanding and subjective views, teachers can consider the application of ChatGPT to support the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in students' reading comprehension of narrative texts after applying the herringbone technique. This study a quantitative method. To achieve the research objectives, this study used an instrument in the form of a reading comprehension test. The population of this study was all class XI students at SMA Negeri 7 Pinrang, totaling 244 students from 7 different classes, in the odd semester of the 2023–2024 academic year. The interview sample was 34 students in class XI F of SMA Negeri 7 Pinrang, in the odd semester of the 2023–2024 academic year. As a result of the data analysis carried out, researchers can conclude that the application of the herringbone technique in reading can improve students' reading comprehension in narrative texts at SMA Negeri 7 Pinrang.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris bagi pengungsi memiliki dampak signifikan dalam kehidupan mereka di lingkungan baru. Tujuan: Tujuan PkM ini adalah memberikan pengajaran Bahasa Inggris kepada pengungsi melalui program "Proyek Kemanusiaan" yang dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UNM. Program ini tidak hanya bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berkomunikasi, tetapi juga menjadi jembatan integrasi pengungsi ke dalam masyarakat baru. Metode: Metode pengajaran ini melibatkan observasi dan wawancara untuk menilai tingkat pemahaman Bahasa Inggris mereka, diikuti dengan pemisahan kelas menjadi kelompok anak-anak, remaja, dan dewasa, baik pria maupun wanita. Hasil: Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pengajaran Bahasa Inggris bukan hanya menghasilkan keterampilan berbahasa, tetapi juga menciptakan lingkungan inklusif yang mendukung bagi pengungsi. Kesimpulan: Studi sebelumnya mengkonfirmasi bahwa pengajaran Bahasa Inggris yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan pengungsi meningkatkan integrasi sosial dan memperluas akses mereka terhadap pendidikan dan peluang pekerjaan. Dengan demikian, Proyek Kemanusiaan merupakan langkah positif dalam mendukung pengungsi di Makassar dalam meraih tujuan pendidikan mereka.

Abstract

Permasalahan dari penelitian ini yaitu penguasaan kosakata anak usia dini yang masih terbatas karena metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan oleh guru kurang variatif sehingga anak jenuh dalam kegiatan pembelajaran dan menyebabkan kemampuan bahasa khususnya penguasaan kosakata pada anak usia dini berkembang kurang optimal. Penelitian ini berdasar pada teori metode read aloud, read aloud adalah kegiatan membaca yang dilakukan dengan suara lantang atau nyaring. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan guru dalam mengembangkan kemampuan penguasaan kosa kata pada anak dan untuk menggambarkan penerapan metode read aloud menggunakan literasi digital untuk meningkatkan kemampuan penguasaan kosakata pada anak. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan yaitu wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan tahap reduksi, display dan verifikasi. Temuan penelitian ini adalah metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan pendidik dalam mengembangkan kemampuan penguasaan kosakata pada anak, dan efektivitas penerapan metode read aloud menggunakan literasi digital terhadap kemampuan penguasaan kosakata pada anak. Abstract

This study aimed to shed light on how is the teachers'' perception on the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum in Teaching English at SMKN 1 Polewali, this research is a qualitative research approach with a phenomenology descriptive design. The researcher using observation, interview and documentation to collect the data. Based on the observation and interview that have been done, the researcher found that the teachers'' perceptions reveal broad and narrow views. While appreciating curriculum flexibility for tailored learning and recognizing positive outcomes like increased student creativity and participation, some express concerns about limitations and administrative burdens. The teachers'' reveal their perception about how the merdeka curriculum giving teachers flexibility in teaching, enhancing student’s creativity, utilizing student-centred teaching method, seamless technology integration and emphasize the importance of reflection process in learning, In conclusion, the Merdeka Curriculum positively impacts the learning environment at SMK 1 Polewali, fostering dynamism and responsiveness to student needs. Ongoing efforts to understand and address varied teacher perceptions are crucial for optimizing curriculum benefits and ensuring equitable outcomes for all stakeholders in the learning process. the findings of this study provide a foundation for the development of targeted teacher professional development programmes. These programmes can address key challenges identified in the study, such as adapting to curriculum updates, integrating technology and managing administrative burdens. When teachers are equipped with the necessary skills and support, they can face these challenges more effectively, which will ultimately improve the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges in implementing Sharia-compliant online lending models within Indonesia's Islamic fintech ecosystem, with strategic recommendations for sustainable development.Methodology: A qualitative approach was used, combining literature analysis, interviews with industry players, and evaluation of regulations. The focus was on assessing Sharia compliance and exploring best practices from global Islamic fintech ecosystems. Results: The findings reveal significant potential for Islamic fintech in promoting financial inclusion, particularly for underserved communities. However, challenges such as low Islamic financial literacy and inconsistent regulatory oversight hinder progress. Findings: Sharia-compliant contracts like qard hasan, musyarakah, and mudarabah show promise in addressing ethical concerns and fostering financial sustainability. Originality: This research provides a comprehensive evaluation of Sharia-compliant online lending models in Indonesia, incorporating global best practices. Novelty: The study highlights the strategic role of maqashid sharia principles in creating ethical and transparent fintech solutions. Conclusions: Strengthened regulations, public education, and innovation in contract models are essential for sustainable Islamic fintech development in Indonesia. Type of Paper: Conceptual research.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between learning resources and students' English learning achievement. This research uses a quantitative approach and correlational methods. The sample in this study was 30 students of class VIII i of SMP Negeri 13 Makassar, and the sample was selected using random sampling technique. Data was obtained from questionnaire answers of 30 respondents and tests of 30 respondents and then correlated. The results of the research concluded that the correlation between learning resources and students' English learning achievement obtained rxy results amounting to 0.376, (between 0.210 - 0.400) where the two variables have a low degree of correlation and a positive form of correlation. It can be concluded that the hypothesis which states that there is a relationship between learning resources and students' English learning achievement is accepted. So, whatever learning resources the teacher uses should be in accordance with the learning objectives so that they can support the student learning process and obtain optimal results.Keywords: Learning Resources, Learning Achievement

Abstract

This study aims to find out whether the brainstorming method can improve students' impromptu public speaking ability. The researcher applied pre-experimental method and to achieve the research objectives, data collection was conducted through pre-test and post-test. The population of this study is all of the second grade of SMAN 16 Makassar students and the sample of this study consisted of 35 students of class 11 MIPA 6 at SMA 16 Makassar with random sampling technique. The results of the pre-test and post-test of impromptu public speaking after being analyzed with the significant test formula showed a T-Test value that was greater than the T-Table value so H0 was accepted, and after being analyzed with the N-Gain value the results showed that the improvement that occurred in the speaking ability of the sample group was low.
