Abstract

The study on Sufism, spirituality, and kalam has become an intriguing subject within the scholarly realm. Adherents of Sufism focus on seeking the divine presence and direct experience with God. Spirituality refers to the non-material dimension of human existence, while kalam, as a branch of Islamic philosophy and theology, elaborates on the principles of faith and religious doctrines. This study aims to analyze scientific research related to Sufism, spirituality, and kalam. The method used is library research employing a descriptive-analytical approach. Data is collected through literature reviews, including scientific articles, books, and relevant publications related to the study's theme. The findings reveal the dynamics and tensions among these three fields, particularly in terms of methodology and objectives. Sufism and spirituality are often considered more subjective and mystical, while kalam tends to be rational and systematic. However, they complement each other in providing a comprehensive framework for understanding faith and religious practice in Islam. Furthermore, this study highlights the importance of balancing mystical experiences and rationality in developing a holistic spiritual understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to present a comprehensive synthesis of four major qualitative research approaches narrative inquiry, phenomenology, grounded theory, and Islamic research design as a multidimensional framework for studying phenomena in Islamic education. Narrative inquiry emphasizes the reconstruction of life stories as sources of meaning; phenomenology seeks to uncover the essence of participants’ lived experiences; grounded theory systematically generates concepts or theories emerging from empirical data; while Islamic research design integrates contemporary qualitative strategies with Islamic epistemology, ethics, and values. The analysis demonstrates that each approach offers distinctive strengths yet remains compatible for integrative use. Narrative inquiry supports studies requiring an exploration of individual life trajectories, phenomenology is suitable for examining spiritual and religious experiences in depth, grounded theory is relevant for developing contextually rooted theoretical constructs, and Islamic research design ensures that the research process aligns with Islamic ethical and epistemological foundations. Taken together, these approaches form a multidimensional qualitative model that enriches methodological discourse in Islamic studies and promotes research practices that are both contextually grounded and aligned with the needs of contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

Cognitive evaluation instruments are essential tools for systematically and objectively measuring students’ thinking abilities. This study analyzes two primary types of cognitive assessment instruments objective tests and essay tests by evaluating their quality based on established indicators of validity and reliability. The purpose of this research is to examine how effectively these instruments measure cognitive performance across different levels of thinking skills. This study employs a qualitative research method with a content analysis approach, which involves reviewing, selecting, and analyzing scholarly literature, including textbooks, empirical studies, and theoretical documents related to test construction, validity, and reliability. The content analysis reveals that the cognitive domain encompasses mental processes such as problem-solving, reasoning, and the integration of conceptual knowledge. Written cognitive test instruments generally consist of essay tests (restricted and extended response) and objective tests (true–false, multiple-choice, matching, and completion). The findings demonstrate that the overall quality of cognitive evaluation instruments is largely determined by their validity and reliability, which serve as critical benchmarks for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of cognitive measurement.

Abstract

One of the factors contributing to domestic violence against children is the low level of character education among family members. Low character education results in a lack of empathy, immorality, and high levels of emotion among family members, leading to violence against children. The high number of child abuse cases in Pasaman Regency has prompted local community organizations to seek various solutions to reduce it. Aisyiyah Pasaman Regency is a women's organization that has long been concerned about children. However, the role of Aisyiyah Pasaman Regency in cases of child abuse has not been very visible. This activity aims to increase the knowledge of the Posbakum institution and Aisyiyah administrators regarding character education. The activity methods consisted of training and mentoring. The results of the training and mentoring showed an increase in the knowledge of Posbakum and Aisyiyah administrators regarding character education, enabling them to implement it in the community. The leaders and members of Posbakum and Aisyiyah were able to explain and instill character education in family members in their respective areas, thereby preventing violence against children.

Abstract

Learning evaluation is a crucial component of the educational process as it functions to assess the achievement of learning objectives and serves as a basis for continuous improvement. In the context of Islamic Religious Education, learning evaluation is not only directed at cognitive achievement but also encompasses affective and psychomotor domains. This article aims to comprehensively examine and analyze learning evaluation models, particularly the CIPP, Kirkpatrick, and Scriven models, and their relevance to Islamic Religious Education. This study employed a qualitative approach using library research. Data were collected from books, scholarly journal articles, and academic documents related to learning evaluation models. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method by examining the concepts, characteristics, strengths, and limitations of each evaluation model. The findings indicate that the CIPP model emphasizes comprehensive evaluation of context, input, process, and product; the Kirkpatrick model focuses on a four-level evaluation ranging from reaction to results; while the Scriven model highlights formative and summative evaluation conducted independently of predetermined objectives. These three models have distinct strengths and can be adapted in Islamic Religious Education to enhance the quality of learning processes and outcomes. Keywords: learning evaluation; CIPP model; Kirkpatrick model; Scriven model; Islamic education

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has changed the educational paradigm, including the learning evaluation process, where conventional paper-based evaluations are considered inefficient, slow in providing feedback, and prone to errors or accidents. Therefore, the implementation of technology-based evaluations, such as E-Assessment, Computer-Based Testing (CBT), and digital applications, is an alternative strategy to increase the effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance of assessments. National research uses qualitative descriptive methods based on literature studies, by analyzing literature from scientific journals, educational books, policy guidelines, and research related to the implementation of digital evaluation, to map the benefits, challenges, and best practices in the context of formal education. The results of the study indicate that Technology-based evaluation can improve the accuracy of student competency measurements, accelerate data processing, and provide instant feedback that supports continuous learning. Furthermore, this technology increases learning motivation, reduces the potential for cheating, and facilitates systematic monitoring of learning outcomes. However, implementing digital evaluation faces challenges such as infrastructure readiness, teacher and student digital literacy, and data security. Therefore, its successful use requires support from training, policies, and sound system integration. Keywords: Technology-based evaluation, E-Assessment, CBT, Digital applications, Modern education

Abstract

This article discusses affective spiritual evaluation instruments which include three main subtopics, namely observation, attitude scales, and self-assessment. The purpose of this study is to understand the concept and application of these instruments in early childhood Islamic education. The method used is literature review from various educational psychology and Islamic education sources. The results indicate that observation is useful for identifying behavioral changes, attitude scales help quantify students’ affective responses, and self-assessment supports students’ awareness and reflection of their own spiritual development. These three instruments complement each other in providing comprehensive affective-spiritual evaluations. Keywords: affective evaluation, spiritual, observation, attitude scale, self-assessment
