Abstract

This study aims to explore and develop a Pancasila Student Profile (P5) learning module based on Kesenian Besutan, a traditional art form from Jombang, through the integration of ethnopedagogical principles. Using a mixed methods approach, the research combines qualitative data from interviews with cultural practitioners, classroom observations, and document analysis with quantitative data from expert validation of the developed module. The goal is to preserve local culture while simultaneously cultivating students’ character in line with Pancasila values. The qualitative findings revealed that Besutan carries deep historical and philosophical meaning related to the Indonesian struggle for independence and local wisdom, making it a strong foundation for cultural-based learning. Quantitative validation from education experts and cultural figures resulted in an average score of 91.67, indicating the module is "highly feasible" for classroom implementation. The module encourages student engagement through contextual learning, collaborative projects, and critical reflection, structured in four main phases: introduction, contextualization, action, and reflection. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on ethnopedagogical-based curriculum development and highlights the potential of local art forms in promoting cultural literacy and civic responsibility. The study recommends broader trials and government support to integrate such culturally rich modules into primary education for sustainable cultural preservation and character building.

Abstract

This pre-study explores the reading interest of elementary school students and the potential integration of local wisdom into literacy practices. The background of this study stems from preliminary findings that reveal low reading interest among second-grade students in an elementary school. Most students prefer picture books and show limited engagement with traditional texts, especially when lacking visual appeal. Furthermore, observations and teacher interviews indicate that cultural elements such as local traditions and values—particularly from Madura—are rarely included in classroom reading materials. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through questionnaires, classroom observations, and teacher interviews. The results show that 70% of students read only when instructed, and over 80% express interest in books that include illustrations and culturally familiar content. Teachers acknowledge the need for relevant reading materials that combine engaging storytelling with the richness of local culture. They believe such materials can promote reading habits while strengthening students’ cultural identity. This study highlights a significant gap in culturally responsive reading materials for young learners. It suggests the importance of developing culturally integrated picture storybooks to enhance reading interest. Incorporating local wisdom into early literacy development can not only foster students’ engagement in reading but also preserve cultural heritage. The findings provide a basis for future development of reading materials rooted in local traditions and values.

Abstract

Digital libraries have become an important element in supporting learning in elementary schools along with the rapid development of technology and the digitization of education. This study aims to explore the role of digital libraries in improving the accessibility of learning resources, students' digital literacy, and the effectiveness of teachers' teaching in elementary schools through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data was obtained from 15 reputable journals published in the 2019-2024 time span, with selection using the PRISMA method to ensure the relevance and validity of the studies analyzed. The results showed that digital libraries have a positive impact on the affordability of teaching materials, increase students' interest in reading, and enrich technology-based learning strategies for teachers. In addition, digital libraries play a role in the development of 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and digital communication. However, the main challenges in the implementation of digital libraries include infrastructure limitations, human resource readiness, and access disparities in certain regions. This study emphasizes the need for strategic policies to optimize digital libraries in primary schools, including improved teacher training and strengthening of technological infrastructure. Thus, digital libraries can function optimally in supporting inclusive and quality learning in the era of digitalization.

Abstract

Abstract: Poster media is a form of visual communication that is effective in conveying information in a concise, compact and attractive manner. This research evaluates the effectiveness of posters as a means of conveying information through literature studies from various fields, such as education, health, and marketing. Posters have been shown to improve learners' understanding of complex material, be an effective educational tool in public health campaigns, and support marketing strategies by presenting strong and memorable visualizations. Key factors that influence the effectiveness of posters include design elements such as layout, typography, colors and images, as well as strategic placement locations. However, challenges in the digital age arise from competition with more dynamic interactive media, such as videos and social media platforms. This research uses a descriptive-qualitative approach to analyze relevant literature, providing recommendations for poster designs that are creative, communicative, and adaptive to modern audiences. The findings show that posters remain relevant in the digital age, provided they are strategically designed to enhance visual appeal and message effectiveness. This study contributes to a broader understanding of posters as a medium of information delivery across fields. Abstract

This study aims to develop an image card-based learning media using a differentiated learning design to improve the speaking skills of first-grade students at Sekolah Indonesia Riyadh. The research adopted the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The developed media consists of image cards with various themes supporting speaking skill development, such as recognizing objects, naming colors, and role-playing. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with a pretest-posttest design to measure the improvement in students' speaking abilities before and after the intervention. A total of 20 first-grade students participated in the study, consisting of an equal number of boys and girls aged 6–7 years. The development results show that this learning media has a very high validity with a score of 86.66%, which falls under the very valid category based on assessments from media and content experts. The practicality of the media received excellent feedback, with a 100% rating from teachers indicating that it is easy to use and effective in the learning process. The effectiveness of this media was measured by the improvement in pretest and posttest scores, with the average pretest score of 54.7, while the posttest score increased to 85.0, with an N-Gain of 0.80, indicating very effective results. However, the study was limited to a small sample within a single school, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the image card-based learning media with a differentiated learning design is proven to be valid, practical, and effective in enhancing the speaking skills of first-grade students at Sekolah Indonesia Riyadh. Therefore, the use of this media can be applied more broadly in other classrooms to support the optimal development of students' speaking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to develop video learning to recognize vowel letters through sign language with an approach that is suitable for children with kinesthetic learning styles, who often experience difficulties in the traditional learning process. This research draws on multiple learning intelligences, particularly kinesthetic intelligence, which emphasizes that children learn best through physical activity. The research method follows the ADDIE model, which includes the steps of needs analysis, content design, video development, implementation, and evaluation, to ensure that the final product meets the criteria of effective learning. Based on unstructured interview data, teachers emphasized the importance of the specific features of letters. The implementation of this method was indicated to be successful, showing that 83.33% of students from groups A1 and A2 made significant progress in recognizing vowel letter sounds, with an average n-gain of 0.81 (A1) and 0.83 (A2). Although there were challenges for 20% of students in the speed of letter shape recognition and imitation, these results support the need for a diverse and inclusive approach to learning. The research recommends collaborative learning strategies for children who struggle with letter recognition and emphasizes the importance of using methods that support all learning styles. The implications of the findings lie in developing more effective learning media, encouraging active and interactive learning that strengthens children's literacy and communication skills. The originality of this research lies in the integration of Indonesian letter sounds, the use of sign language and the learning steps of kinesthetic children. This research makes the subject matter more accessible to children with kinesthetic learning styles and makes a significant contribution to modern learning methodologies
