Abstract

Today's students' learning motivation tends to decline due to lack of attention to life values as the basis of human development in the educational process. This research aims to reveal three important things, namely; student learning motivation, students' hopes for retreat activities to increase their learning motivation, and the process of internalizing retreat values, namely honesty and humility towards student learning motivation. The design of this research is qualitative phenomenology. The main subjects of the research were class XI students at SMAK Frateran Malang who were drawn using purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques were carried out using domain analysis techniques, taxonomic analysis techniques, and theme analysis techniques. The research results show that students' learning motivation is greatly influenced by the economic and educational background of parents, the way and style of parental support at home, as well as the learning approach patterns used by teachers in the classroom. Students' hopes for retreats to increase learning motivation apparently return to the students themselves because the retreat mentoring pattern really uses retreat companions as facilitators. The approach in a retreat is different from the approach in the learning process in class. The retreat companion is a facilitator figure, the teacher in the class is an authority figure who oversees joint learning achievements.

Abstract

These four causes of phubbing—smartphone addiction, internet addiction, social media addiction, and gaming addiction—are interconnected. The purpose of this article is to develop an instrument that counselors can use to determine the level of phubbing behavior among students in their school by testing its validity and reliability. The steps taken include: (1) determining aspects of the phubbing behavior scale, (2) formulating phubbing behavior scale indicators, (3) formulating phubbing behavior scale descriptors, (4) compiling phubbing behavior scale statement items, (5) testing validity, and (6) testing the reliability of the instrument. The 143 respondents consisted of students from several schools, including Maharani Pharmacy Vocational School Malang, National Vocational School Malang, State Senior High School 1 Gambiran, Widyagama High School Malang, Dr. Soetomo High School, and Vocational High School Darissulaimaniyyah. All respondent schools were located in East Java, Indonesia. After obtaining data from the students, it was analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26 to test the validity and reliability of the phubbing behavior scale. The phubbing behavior scale indicators were derived from aspects such as communication disorders and obsession with cell phones. The scale, initially composed of 23 statement items, was found to have one invalid item, number 13, after testing. Thus, the remaining valid items totaled 22.

This guidebook can be used by counselors as a reference in providing guidance services to vocational students who have problems related to academic burnout. This manual is equipped with an academic burnout scale to measure the level of student academic burnout. The development model in this study used the Borg and Gall development research design. In this study, we used five stages, consisting of pre-survey, product design, design validation, product testing, and final product preparation. The research instruments were material expert assessment instruments, media expert assessment instruments, and assessment instruments for prospective product users. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive percentages and inter-rater agreement. The results of the study indicated that the stress management guide meets the acceptability criteria, so it is appropriate to be used as a medium for counselors to facilitate the development of students’ stress management to prevent academic burnout.

Abstract

Differentiated learning has become a critical approach in counselor education, as it allows instructional processes to be tailored to individual learner needs. However, most existing Learning Management Systems (LMS) have yet to fully support this pedagogical principle. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, particularly Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) models, new opportunities have emerged to develop more adaptive and personalized LMS platforms. This study aims to identify the initial design needs of a differentiated learning LMS in counselor education and explore the potential integration of GPT as a supportive technology. Employing an exploratory qualitative approach, data were collected from 34 pre-service teachers in a Guidance and Counseling Teacher Professional Education Program using a combination of open- and closed-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The analysis revealed eight key areas of student need within the LMS, including media variation, contextualization, interactivity, accessibility, and automated feedback. GPT’s features were found to align with these needs, particularly its ability to deliver case-based simulations, personalized content recommendations, and adaptive feedback. These findings provide a conceptual foundation for the development of LMS platforms that are more contextualized, human-centered, and capable of supporting differentiated learning in counselor education.
