Abstract

This study focuses on the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) among adolescents, particularly in vocational high schools (SMK), which refers to the anxiety caused by the fear of missing out on information or trending events. The problem addressed in this research is how the phenomenon of FoMO affects the psychological well-being of adolescents in SMK. The aim of this study is to analyze the level of FoMO among SMK students and provide recommendations for interventions that can reduce its negative impact. The research method used is a survey design involving 203 students as the sample. Data were collected through the distribution of a questionnaire containing 10 questions designed to measure the level of FoMO. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics to determine the distribution of FoMO levels among respondents. The main findings of the study show that the majority of students (63%) fall into the moderate category of FoMO, while 25% of students are in the low category and 12% fall into the high category. These findings indicate that although most students show a moderate level of FoMO, special attention needs to be given to students with high FoMO levels to prevent negative psychological impacts. The conclusion of this study is that it is crucial for educators and school counselors to design interventions that can reduce the anxiety caused by FoMO.

Abstract

The low level of prosocial behavior among junior high school students poses potential issues in social interactions, such as a lack of solidarity, indifference, and peer conflicts. This condition can also negatively impact academic success. This study aims to analyze the role of the cultural value suki toka apa in group counseling services using symbolic modeling techniques to enhance prosocial behavior among junior high school students. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving 71 eighth-grade students. The findings revealed that the application of group counseling with symbolic modeling techniques integrating the value of suki toka apa significantly improved students' prosocial behavior. This is evidenced by the Wilcoxon hypothesis test results, which showed a p-value of 0.022, smaller than the significance level (α = 0.05). Furthermore, the Mann-Whitney U Test, used to identify significant differences between the experimental and control groups, yielded a p-value of 0.005 (0.005 < 0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In conclusion, integrating the value of suki toka apa into group counseling services with symbolic modeling techniques enables students to internalize and apply prosocial behavior more effectively, ultimately fostering solidarity and a sense of togetherness among them.

Abstract

Verbal aggressive behavior, including the use of abusive language, insults, threats, sarcasm, lies, defamation, and calling peers by offensive nicknames, is a persistent form of verbal violence that frequently occurs in school environments. This study aims to develop and empirically examine the effectiveness of a structured group counseling guide based on the Structured Learning Approach, presented in an e-book format, as a preventive intervention against verbal aggressive behavior among junior high school students. The research applied a development research method using the ADDIE model. The study involved 30 students as subjects for the effectiveness test and three experts (material, media, and user validators) for the validation process. Data were collected through expert judgment questionnaires, effectiveness measurement questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis employed descriptive quantitative techniques supported by percentage calculations. The validation results indicated that the counseling guide possesses a very high level of validity in terms of relevance, usefulness, attractiveness, and ease of implementation. Additionally, the effectiveness test results revealed a significant decrease in students’ tendency to engage in verbal aggressive behavior after participating in group counseling sessions using the developed guide. This research concludes that the developed e-book-based group counseling guide is feasible and effective as a preventive strategy for fostering a safer, more positive, and harmonious school environment.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, universities in Indonesia are expected to produce graduates who are academically excellent and equipped with employability skills grounded in Islamic values. This dual expectation necessitates the development of assessment tools that align educational outcomes with religious and cultural contexts. However, existing employability scales often fail to capture the ethical and spiritual dimensions vital for Muslim students. This study aimed to develop and validate an Islamic value-based student employability scale that integrates core employability skills, Islamic work ethics, workplace spirituality, resilience, and motivation. Item development was based on a comprehensive literature review and expert consultation to ensure theoretical relevance and cultural appropriateness. The Rasch model was employed to provide accurate, bias-free measurement and to confirm unidimensionality. A cross-sectional design involving 1,192 students from 26 public Islamic universities in Indonesia was used, with data collected through an online questionnaire. Rasch analysis demonstrated strong validity and reliability (item reliability = 1.00; person reliability = 0.90), confirming the scale's ability to measure a single core construct. The Islamic value-based employability scale offers a psychometrically sound tool for assessing Muslim students' workplace readiness. It provides practical insights for Islamic higher education curriculum development and policy design.

Abstract

The increasing use of the internet as a source of health information has given rise to the phenomenon of cyberchondria, characterized by excessive health information-seeking behavior that negatively impacts adolescent mental health. This phenomenon has become increasingly concerning, especially in the post-pandemic era, where health anxiety and exposure to unverified information have risen significantly. This study aims to analyze the psychological impact of cyberchondria on adolescents and to evaluate the role of school counseling services in preventing and managing its symptoms. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review method, guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol. A total of 19 international articles published between 2013 and 2024 were analyzed, focusing on adolescents aged 12–18 years, with a combined sample of over 21,000 participants. Data were collected using a structured extraction form and analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that cyberchondria is closely associated with anxiety, family dysfunction, smartphone addiction, and a decline in psychological well-being. School-based counseling holds strategic potential in fostering digital health literacy and reducing maladaptive health information-seeking behaviors. Overall, these results highlight the need for a systemic approach within the education sector to address emerging adolescent mental health challenges driven by uncontrolled digital information consumption.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the resilience of students who memorize the Qur'an at a state university in Malang, Indonesia, specifically in the Faculty of Education, based on the seven aspects of resilience identified by Reivich and Shatte. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation with two students who memorize the Qur'an at the Faculty of Education and four supporting informants. The research subjects were selected purposively, consisting of: 1) students who memorize the Qur'an, 2) students enrolled at one of the state universities in Malang City and at the Faculty of Education, and 3) students in semesters 2-6, 4) Students who are still in the process of memorizing (not yet completed), and 5) Willing to be research subjects. The findings show that the resilience of students who memorize the Qur'an is formed through seven aspects of resilience identified by Reivich and Shatte, and is influenced by external factors, namely social support. This study recommends that the guidance and counseling center at the state university in Malang, provide individual or group counseling focused on the problems experienced by students who memorize the Qur'an. Then, hold workshops or seminars on strategies for maintaining resilience, stress management, and increasing motivation to memorize, and finally, create information services in the form of posters on maintaining resilience amid busy college activities and memorization.

Abstract

Women with disabilities are often victims of discrimination and are even more marginalized compared to men with disabilities. The double burden represents a severe challenge experienced by women with disabilities. This study aims to (1) explore the double burden faced by women with disabilities and (2) identify appropriate coping strategies. The research method employed is a Systematic Literature Review, with women with disabilities as the primary focus. Following the inclusion process and quality appraisal (Appraising the Quality of Studies), a total of 19 studies were reviewed. The findings indicate that (1) the double burden experienced by women with disabilities arises from sociological pressures (family, community, and government policies) and psychological burdens in the form of emotional responses (feelings of worry, loneliness, and self-isolation) triggered by these sociological pressures. (2) The coping strategies that can be employed include emotion-focused coping and problem-focused coping. Another finding highlights the need for further research using quantitative methods to obtain more concrete results regarding the double burden of women with disabilities. The results of this study may serve as a foundation for more in-depth and representative research on the double burden faced by women with disabilities.
