Abstract

Music is conventionally perceived as a medium of entertainment and artistic expression. However, among employees, music assumes a broader functional role, supporting productivity and psychological well-being across diverse workplace contexts. This study aimed to investigate the functional role of music among employees experiencing work-related stress and low motivation. A cross-sectional study was administered to 500 employees representing various socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. Participants reported their musical preferences and the perceived psychological impacts of music during different emotional states at work. Data analysis, including word cloud visualization and heatmap modeling, revealed that genres such as Pop and Dangdut dominated across both emotional conditions. However, the functional objectives of music usage differed; employees experiencing stress favored music for emotional balance and familiar comfort, while those facing low motivation preferred music that energized and re-engaged cognitive resources. The findings highlight that music serves adaptive emotional and cognitive regulatory functions, leading to increased productivity, emotional stabilization, and sustained concentration. These results offer practical implications for workplace well-being strategies, emphasizing the potential of personalized auditory environments in enhancing employee resilience and performance.

Abstract

Pesantren increasingly face psychosocial issues such as bullying and harassment, requiring sensitive interventions. Musyrif/musyrifah often serve as first responders but lack formal counseling or Psychological First Aid (PFA) training. This snapshot study examines the feasibility of large language models (LLMs) as simulators for developing counseling communication skills in pesantren contexts. Five LLMs: Gemini, DeepSeek, ChatGPT, Claude, and Meta AI, were tested using a culturally relevant case scenario. Their counseling responses were evaluated through a seven-skill rubric: attending, empathy, reflection, clarification, paraphrasing, summarizing, and nonverbal sensitivity. Five raters independently scored the outputs. Gemini achieved the highest mean (M = 4.89), followed by DeepSeek (M = 4.71) and ChatGPT-5 (M = 4.57). Claude (M = 3.86) and Meta AI (M = 3.20) scored lower, especially in nonverbal sensitivity. The study concludes that advanced LLMs, particularly Gemini and DeepSeek, show strong potential as scalable, culturally adaptive tools to strengthen counseling readiness in pesantren. Abstract

The well-being of faculty and staff in higher education has increasingly become a global concern, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, existing research remains fragmented and lacks a unified theoretical framework. This study aimed to synthesize empirical evidence on faculty and staff mental health and to develop an integrative Academic Well-Being model for higher-education settings. A Systematic Integrative Review (SLR) was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020. Seventeen peer-reviewed international studies published between 2017 and 2025 were analyzed through thematic synthesis. The findings reveal that academic well-being is a multidimensional construct encompassing eight key dimensions: psychological, social, organizational, spiritual, physical, digital, financial, and cultural policy. Psychological well-being and empathetic leadership emerged as central determinants, while digital adaptation, spiritual meaning, and financial security are emerging factors in the post-pandemic period. The synthesis resulted in an Ecological Model of Academic Well-Being (EAWB) comprising four nested levels: individual, interpersonal, organizational, and cultural systemic that interact dynamically to shape mental health and professional flourishing in academia. The model highlights that sustainable well-being arises not from personal resilience but from compassionate leadership, organizational justice, and inclusive cultures. This review contributes a holistic framework for transforming universities into compassionate ecosystems. Keywords: academic well-being model, mental health, university staff, higher education

Abstract

The provision of guidance and counseling services with the aim of achieving optimal student development will be implemented if the counselor knows what factors make the counselee feel comfortable. The objective of this study is to assess the level of comfort experienced by both the counselor and the counselee, thereby facilitating the realization of the service. The research employed is a qualitative literature review, examining several sources, including books, journals, and other relevant materials, as the primary research object. It has been determined that becoming a counselor is not solely contingent upon physical evidence, such as a diploma that substantiates completion of a bachelor's degree program in guidance and counseling, along with graduation from a professional education program for teachers. Additional factors must be taken into consideration. A professional counselor must possess a fundamental understanding of the ethical principles that govern their practice and exhibit personal characteristics conducive to effective counseling. When a counselor exhibits the anticipated characteristics and ethics, establishing a relationship between the counselor and the counselee is not a sufficient challenge in itself. In addition to the internal factors present within a counseling context, external factors such as facilities and infrastructure play a pivotal role in the implementation of counseling services.

Abstract

Purpose: Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia, as boarding educational institutions, play a strategic role in developing the character and life skills of their students. The implementation of peer counsellors through a supervised prospective trainer scheme in Islamic boarding schools aims to strengthen the psychosocial support of students while simultaneously developing a sustainable intervention model appropriate to the Islamic boarding education. Research Methodology: The community service program was implemented using a variety of lecture methods to convey peer counselling concepts, guided discussions and assignments to deepen the material, workshops for practical counselling skills training, and mentoring to bridge the role of peer counsellors with school counsellors in service implementation. Results: The results showed an increase in post-test scores for all participants compared to the pre-test. This finding indicates that supervised training positively contributed to improving participants' reflective abilities and readiness to carry out their roles as peer counsellors. Conclusions: This community service activity proved effective in improving knowledge, skills, and readiness as peer counsellors, particularly in their understanding of psychosocial support and basic counselling skills such as empathy, reflective listening, and supportive communication. Limitations: Program limitations include the limited number of participants at one partner Islamic boarding school, the relatively short duration of mentoring, and the evaluation's inability to systematically measure the direct impact on the psychological well-being of the students receiving the services. Contributions: This program provides practical guidance for Islamic boarding schools in developing a friendly, accessible, and sustainable psychosocial support system through the empowerment of trained peer counsellors.

Abstract

Counselor Students, while seen as key providers of counseling and guidance services in educational settings, frequently face challenges stemming from insufficient self-care practices. The absence of these practices often leads to psychological difficulties that compromise their ability to fully embody the characteristics of effective counselors. This situation raises concerns about counselor students’ readiness to assume professional responsibilities and maintain long-term effectiveness in their roles. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate the impact of self-awareness, self-efficacy, and social support on the self-care of prospective counselor students, and to develop a comprehensive theoretical framework tailored specifically to their needs. This study employed an Ex Post Facto Causal Relationship Explanatory design. A sample of 277 students (38 males and 239 females) was selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using four validated and reliable instruments—the Self-Efficacy Scale, the Self-Awareness Scale, Sarafino's Social Support Scale, and the Mindful Self-Care Scale. Data were analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the relationships between the variables. The obtained results showed that significant relationships existed between self-awareness, self-efficacy, and social support with self-care. This research underscored the significance of harmonizing the pre-service Guidance and Counseling education curriculum with the sole purpose of cultivating self-care practices among students through synchronized learning.

Abstract

The literature also points to communication as a critical dimension of academic honesty. In light of these complexities, this systematic literature review (SLR) seeks to synthesize research published between 2015 and 2025 on academic honesty among university students. The remainder of this paper is structured as follows. First, the methodological framework for the review is described, including inclusion and exclusion criteria aligned with PRISMA guidelines. Second, the results section presents a thematic synthesis of the literature.  This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, to ensure transparency, replicability, and alignment with standards used in Scopus-indexed publications. The findings underscore that punitive approaches alone are insufficient. Instead, universities must adopt integrated strategies that combine pedagogical innovations, transparent communication, emotional intelligence training, and AI literacy programs. Evidence from diverse contexts indicates that participatory and preventive measures, such as game-based learning and contextual discovery approaches, can effectively foster student ownership of integrity. At the same time, localized adaptations are essential, as cultural and contextual variations strongly influence perceptions and practices of honesty. Theoretically, this review contributes by positioning academic honesty not merely as rule compliance, but as an integral component of professional identity formation and ethical development in higher education. Practically, the findings inform institutional policy by highlighting the need for integrated integrity frameworks that balance regulation, education, and student participation. For teaching practice, the review underscores the effectiveness of contextual learning models, game-based interventions, and explicit integrity instruction embedded within curricula.

Abstract

Learning responsibility is essential for academic success among senior high school students, yet many struggle with self-regulation due to technological distractions and low motivation. Self-monitoring-based behavior modification offers a promising intervention to address this issue. This systematic review evaluates the effectiveness of self-monitoring interventions in enhancing learning responsibility among senior high school students. Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search was conducted across six databases (ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Google Scholar, Scopus, Garuda, and ResearchGate) for peer-reviewed articles published between 2015-2025. Studies examining self-monitoring interventions targeting learning responsibility or related constructs in senior high school settings were included. Thematic synthesis was employed to analyze findings. From 312 initially identified records, 47 studies met the inclusion criteria. Findings consistently demonstrate that self-monitoring techniques—including self-recording, checklists, and digital tracking significantly improve students' discipline, time management, and academic engagement. Grounded in Social Cognitive Theory, these interventions enhance self-efficacy and self-regulation. Effective implementation requires structured teacher guidance and supportive learning environments, while challenges include limited parental involvement and technological barriers. Self-monitoring is an effective strategy for fostering responsibility for learning in senior high school students. Future research should employ longitudinal designs to assess sustained impacts across diverse educational contexts. Keywords: behavior modification, self-monitoring, student responsibility

Abstract

This study aims to measure the level of social connectedness among students using the Social Connectedness Scale (SCS) and explore the relationship between social connectedness and demographic factors such as gender, relationship status, semester level, and participation in campus organizations. This research employed a quantitative method with a descriptive and comparative approach. A total of 464 students from the Faculty of Education at Universitas Negeri Malang were selected through stratified random sampling. The primary instrument used was the Social Connectedness Scale (SCS), and demographic data were collected via a questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using ANOVA and Independent Samples T-Test to evaluate differences in social connectedness based on demographic variables. The results indicated significant differences in social connectedness based on participation in organizations, but no significant differences were found based on gender or relationship status. These findings highlight the importance of involvement in campus organizations to enhance students' social connectedness and well-being.
