Abstract

This study aims to improve the public speaking skills of sixth-grade students at SDN 2 Daleman through the utilization of YouTube as an audiovisual-based learning medium. Public speaking is a crucial component of oral communication competence that needs to be developed from an early age, as it influences students’ confidence, critical thinking, and ability to express ideas in public. Initial observations indicated that most students faced difficulties in structuring their speeches systematically, using proper pronunciation and intonation, and showing appropriate expression and vocal control during presentations. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 17 sixth-grade students, consisting of 8 boys and 9 girls. Data were collected through observation, documentation, interviews, and speech performance tests. The success indicators were determined by the increase in the number of students who met the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC) of 75 and improvements in specific aspects of public speaking, including expression, pronunciation, intonation, voice volume, and content structure. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ public speaking skills through the use of YouTube media. In the pre-cycle stage, only 7 out of 17 students (41%) achieved the MMC. After the first cycle of implementation, the number increased to 10 students (58%). By the second cycle, 15 students (88%) met or exceeded the target. In addition to the quantitative improvement, qualitative enhancements were observed in students’ delivery of speech elements.Learning improvement was also evident across multiple performance aspects, such as clarity of pronunciation, appropriate expression, dynamic intonation, mastery of content, and proper vocal projection. The effective use of YouTube, particularly through a modeling approach featuring high-achieving students as role models, proved to be a powerful motivator and conceptual clarifier. Moreover, it enabled students to engage in self-reflection by watching their own recorded speeches. Therefore, YouTube serves not only as a visual aid but also as a strategic tool to enhance oral communication skills in the context of 21st-century learning.

Abstract

Early reading skills constitute fundamental cornerstones in children's academic development, yet significant proportions of elementary students encounter substantial barriers in mastering critical literacy competencies. This study investigated the effectiveness of project-based multisensory instruction in enhancing early reading skills among third-grade students with learning difficulties. This action research employed a qualitative approach using the Kemmis and McTaggart model with two implementation cycles. Twelve third-grade students with early reading difficulties at SDN 006 Rantau Pulung participated in the study. The intervention integrated visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic modalities through plasticine manipulation and diorama creation activities. Data collection utilized reading ability tests, structured observations, and performance assessments across multiple literacy components including word reading, writing, creative expression, and storytelling capabilities. The intervention achieved remarkable success, with 100% of students reaching satisfactory performance levels by Cycle II, compared to 75% in Cycle I. Students who initially struggled most demonstrated the greatest improvements, with gains reaching up to 35.25%. The overall class average increased significantly by 9.15%, while performance variability decreased substantially (standard deviation reduced from 18.74% to 6.94%), indicating improved learning equity across the classroom. The findings provide compelling evidence that multisensory project-based approaches effectively address diverse learning needs in inclusive settings. The integration of concrete manipulatives with systematic literacy instruction successfully eliminated performance disparities while maintaining high engagement levels. The research contributes theoretical validation for asset-based approaches to learning difficulties and offers practical frameworks for implementing inclusive literacy instruction that accommodates diverse learning profiles in elementary education contexts.

Abstract

Vegetation is a form of soil with a density level in each region that is influenced by other land factors such as rainfall, soil conditions, and water. Density levels can be analyzed either manually in the field or using remote sensing technology. Field observations have weaknesses, one of which is that the time used for a wide area > 1 ha requires > 2 days. The use of remote sensing technology has the advantage of being able to cover large areas in a short time with a modeling system. The research uses a data exploration modeling method with an NDVI approach to calculate the analysis of Landsat 8 image bands. NDVI is calculated based on bands 4 (red) and 5 (near-Infrared). The research results show that in 2017, Kalianan Village, Krucil District, had a vegetation index dominated by dense and very dense density classes. In 2022, the vegetation index of Krucil Village will be dominated by medium- and low-density classes. The differences that occur in 2017 and 2022 could occur due to the deforestation of land for tourism and residential areas.

Abstract

Children have a strategic position in ensuring the survival of a nation, so that legal protection for children is a state obligation as stated in Article 28B paragraph (2) of the 1945 Republic of Indonesia Constitution and the Convention on the Rights of the Child which has been ratified through Presidential Decree Number 36 of 1990. In the context of criminal justice, children involved in narcotics crimes must receive legal treatment in accordance with the principle of the best interests of the child. Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System has regulated that for children who are sentenced to imprisonment and fines, the fine must be replaced with job training. However, in practice, there is still a discrepancy between normative provisions (das Sollen) and the reality of law enforcement (das Sein), such as in Decision Number 1/Pid.Sus-Anak/2014/PN.Pli and Decision Number 98/Pid.Sus-Anak/2020/PN.Plg, which imposes a fine on children without applying a substitute punishment in the form of job training as mandated by the SPPA Law. The formulation of the problem raised in this study is how the criminalization system for children in conflict with the law in cases of drug abuse and how to enforce the law against children in conflict with the law in cases of drug abuse. In this study, the author uses the double track system theory and law enforcement theory as analytical tools in this study. The research method used is a normative legal approach. This study uses a statute approach, a case approach, a conceptual approach, and an analytical approach, which in principle are sourced from primary legal materials consisting of laws and judges' decisions, secondary legal materials consisting of books, research results, articles and tertiary legal materials from libraries, articles and websites. The legal material analysis technique uses grammatical interpretation techniques.. The results of the study on the punishment of children in several cases of drug abuse have not fully implemented the principle of restorative justice as mandated in Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System (SPPA), this shows a disparity in court decisions. In several cases, children who were proven to be abusers were sentenced to prison and large fines, while in other cases children who acted as couriers or intermediaries were not subject to fines. The suggestion in this study is that it is necessary to harmonize and synchronize Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning SPPA as a legal basis so that there is no longer the application of fines that are not in accordance with special provisions in juvenile justice, and in addition, it is necessary to increase the capacity and understanding of law enforcement officers, both investigators, public prosecutors, and judges, regarding the application of the principle of the double track system and restorative justice in handling child cases, especially in cases of drug abuse

Abstract

Human Trafficking is the act of recruiting, transporting, harboring, sending, transferring, or receiving a person by means of threats of violence, use of violence, kidnapping, confinement, forgery, fraud, abuse of power or vulnerable position, debt bondage or giving payments or benefits, so as to obtain the consent of a person who holds control over another person, whether carried out within the country or between countries. The formulation of the problem in this study is How is the Legal Protection for victims of the Crime of Human Trafficking and How is the Criminalization of the Crime of Human Trafficking in Criminal Law. The theory used in this study is the theory of Legal Protection and the theory of Criminalization. The method used in this research is a normative juridical research type, namely library legal research or secondary data with primary, secondary, and tertiary legal material sources. The research approaches used are the statutory approach, case approach, analytical approach, and conceptual approach. The legal material collection technique is carried out by identifying and inventorying positive legal regulations, book literature, journals, and other legal material sources. The legal material analysis technique is carried out by legal interpretation (interpretation), grammatical interpretation, and systematic interpretation. The research findings show that legal protection for victims of human trafficking, based on Law Number 21 of 2007, regulates the protection of victims of human trafficking as an important aspect of law enforcement. Furthermore, Article 48 provides for restitution for victims, but its implementation still faces various obstacles. Specifically, the victim's right to restitution lacks procedures that simplify the restitution application process and the provision of substitute fines for convicts. Many perpetrators' sentences are still not appropriate in practice, with court sentences often falling far below the maximum penalty. This creates a gap between legal norms and their implementation, and leads to dissatisfaction and a sense of injustice for victims. Criminal penalties tend to be minimal, and some are below the minimum.

Abstract

The application of criminal sanctions against child recidivists who conflict with the law in the juvenile criminal justice system in Indonesia. The background of the study departs from the phenomenon of increasing cases of children who commit repeat crimes, giving rise to a debate about the effectiveness of the juvenile criminal justice system that promotes the principle of restorative justice. This study aims to analyze how law enforcement is carried out against child recidivists, how criminal sanctions are imposed, and the extent to which the application of these sanctions is able to cause a deterrent effect without neglecting the best interests of children.  The research employs a normative juridical approach with descriptive analysis, reviewing positive legal norms, court decisions, and relevant literature on theories of punishment and law enforcement. The findings reveal that law enforcement against juvenile recidivists faces a dilemma between protecting children’s rights and the need to ensure deterrence. Judges tend to impose heavier sentences on juvenile recidivists, yet still consider the ultimum remedium principle. The effectiveness of law enforcement is influenced by legal substance, legal structure, and legal culture, thereby requiring synergy among law enforcement agencies, families, and society.  This study concludes that the application of criminal sanctions on juvenile recidivists should be progressive and proportional, combining deterrence with rehabilitation and social reintegration. Therefore, specific legal provisions on handling juvenile recidivists are necessary, alongside consistency from law enforcement officers in applying restorative justice principles to prevent children from re-engaging in criminal acts

Abstract

The physical quality of soil is determined by quantitative measurement tools, which are expressed in the form of soil quality indices. Methods for determining soil quality have been developed, but none have been standardized. This research aimed to determine the results of the soil physical quality index based on two methods, namely 1) simple additive SQI, and 2) statistically modeled SQI, followed by a sensitivity test to determine which method is more sensitive. This research was conducted in the Rembangan Sub-watershed, which comprises five sub-districts: Jelbuk, Arjasa, Patrang, Sukorambi, and Panti, with elevations ranging from 125.91 to 854.67 meters above sea level. Based on the paired t-test results, the soil physical quality index between the two methods was significantly different, with a p-value of 0.002. Meanwhile, the sensitivity test results showed that the statistically modeled method was more sensitive than the simple additive method. Thus, the statistically modeled method is the method that can be used to assess the soil physical quality index for land management guidance. The poor or low-quality class dominates the soil quality class, covering an area of 2,088.43 ha (79.43%). Land management actions based on soil quality are divided into three criteria: 1) “fixed efforts” for low-quality soil, 2) “enhanced efforts” for medium-quality soil, and 3) “maintenance efforts” for good-quality soil.
