Abstract

Abstract

This research explores the development of students' critical thinking in mathematics learning through a longitudinal study approach. With a focus on problem solving, creative thinking, and conceptual understanding, this study aims to understand how students develop critical thinking skills over time. A longitudinal research method was used with 100 students from two secondary schools in Medan city as participants. Results showed significant improvements in students' critical thinking scores from the beginning to the end of the semester, with teacher training interventions and differences between schools making significant contributions. The implication of this study is the importance of innovative learning approaches and support for teachers in improving students' critical thinking skills in the context of mathematics learning

Abstract

This collaborative study explores cross-cultural pedagogical perspectives in childhood education through partnerships with scholars from India. This research aims to explore how cultural factors influence teaching methodology, curriculum design, classroom management techniques, and assessment strategies in early childhood education settings. This research involved 15 informants, including education experts, educators, and practitioners from various cultural backgrounds in India, using qualitative research methods such as in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The results of this study underscore the importance of cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in designing effective pedagogical strategies, as well as the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering cross-cultural understanding and knowledge exchange. This study provides valuable insights and practical recommendations for educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers seeking to create culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments for young learner world.wide.

Abstract

Mengkendek in solving word problems involving whole number subtraction. The research employed a qualitative case study approach, using test items, interviews, and documentation as instruments. Four students who answered all test items incorrectly were selected as participants. The data collection techniques included written tests and semi-structured interviews. The analysis reveals that the main difficulties faced by students include: (1) limited understanding of mathematical language, resulting in failure to relate story contexts to mathematical operations; (2) visual perception challenges, such as difficulty visualizing abstract concepts into numeric forms; and (3) language comprehension problems, particularly in understanding terms like “less than” or “borrowing.” These difficulties hinder students from interpreting and solving mathematical problems correctly.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect size of mind mapping learning model on students' multiple intelligence. This research is a meta-analysis. The sample came from 15 national and international journals. The process of searching for data sources in this study through Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Wiley and ProQuest. The inclusion criteria used are journals or proceedings indexed by Scopus, SINTA, DOAJ and Web of Science; 2) Has mind mapping and multiple intelligence variables; 3) The type of research is experimental or quasi-experimental; 4) has mean, standard deviation and t value data. Data collection is done by direct observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the effect size value and standard deviation with the help of JSAP application. The results of this study show that the average effect size value is 0.871 with high criteria. This finding shows that mind mapping learning has an influence on students' multiple intelligence in learning. Mind mapping learning helps students better remember the learning material that has been learned.

Abstract

This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the impact of gamification on problem-solving skills in STEM education. The study analyzed 16 studies that compared gamification-based interventions with traditional teaching methods in primary and early secondary education. The results showed moderate positive effects of gamification on problem-solving skills, with a weighted mean effect size of 0.67. Additionally, the analysis revealed significant heterogeneity between studies, suggesting that the effectiveness of gamification varied across different contexts. Moderator analyses indicated that primary school students benefited more from gamification-based interventions than secondary school students, but gender did not have a significant moderating effect. The study highlights the potential benefits of gamification in enhancing problem-solving skills in STEM education, particularly for primary school students. However, the findings also suggest that the effectiveness of gamification may depend on various factors, such as the specific context and student demographics, which warrants further investigation.
