Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has brought significant changes to education in the 21st century. This study aims to analyze the utilization of digital technology in the learning process and its impact on students’ learning outcomes. The method used is qualitative with a literature review approach that identifies, evaluates, and synthesizes various previous studies published between 2020 and 2025. Data were obtained from national and international journals indexed in SINTA, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. The results of the review indicate that the integration of digital technology through the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), multimedia applications, and interactive media has a positive effect on students’ motivation, engagement, and academic achievement. Teachers’ digital competence, institutional support, and the availability of infrastructure are key factors determining the success of digital technology implementation. However, there are still several challenges, such as limited access, digital literacy gaps between teachers and students, and uneven educational policies. In the long term, the use of digital technology contributes to the development of learning independence, critical thinking skills, and collaborative abilities that are essential for lifelong learning. Therefore, the utilization of digital technology needs to be accompanied by strengthened digital literacy, adequate infrastructure support, and continuous pedagogical innovation.

Abstract

This study explored the learning strategies and difficulties of visually impaired students. The study involved four students with visual impairment in Pontianak, West Kalimantan Province. The researchers collected data through semi-structured interviews. A qualitative approach was employed in this study. Four informant students took part in this study. All of them were in their secondary education level. The researchers coded the transcription of the interviews. The results showed that visually impaired students preferred to use auditory learning resources and active learning strategies. They perceived these two learning strategies as essential to help them understand the learning materials. Besides, the informant students also claimed that their reading comprehension, self-efficacy and confidence were low. These ideas may facilitate educators to understand what visually impaired students need in their learning and help educators accommodate their teaching in line with what blind students require.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the influence of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model on the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students in the subject of Social Science. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design method, involving both a control group (lecture-based teaching model) and an experimental group (TGT cooperative learning model). The research yielded results indicating that there was no significant influence of the conventional learning model on learning outcomes, as evidenced by the asymptotic significance (2-tailed) value of 0.053 which means that is higher than 0.05. Furthermore, the study demonstrated a significant influence of the TGT learning model with an asymptotic significance (2-tailed) value of 0.000 which is lower than 0.05. The research findings indicate that the TGT model has a significantly greater impact on students’ social science learning outcomes compared to the conventional learning model, with an effect size of 0.368, which falls into the medium category

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the influence of the discovery learning teaching model on the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students in the subject of Social Studies. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving both a control group (lecture-based teaching model) and an experimental group (discovery learning model). The research yielded results that indicated no significant influence of the lecture-based learning model on learning outcomes, as evidenced by the paired sample t-test with a two-tailed significance value of 8.728, which is higher than 0.05. Furthermore, the study demonstrated a significant influence of the discovery learning teaching model on students' learning outcomes, as confirmed by the Wilcoxon test, which showed a two-tailed significance value of 0.016, lower than 0.05. This research finding also indicated a significant impact of the discovery Learning teaching model on learning outcomes, with an effect size of 0.977, categorizing it as a medium effect

Abstract

There is a perspective if intellectual intelligence is the only factor in achieve learning achievement so that efforts to develop emotional intelligence do not noticed. This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on social science learning achievement in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Ambawang. This research using quantitative methods with a population of 112 from class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Ambawang. Sampling using the simple random sampling technique, so obtained a sample of 88. Data collection using a questionnaire and social science value data as research instrument, then to look for the effect of emotional intelligence on achievement study social science using a simple linear regression test using SPSS 24. From the results of data collection known if there are 47 samples that have high emotional intelligence and 41 with a level moderate, then from the Social science final exam scores there were 76 samples who passed and 12 people did not complete. It was found that the R square value was 0.616, this result is significant if emotional intelligence affect social science learning achievement by 61.6%. From the value of R square it can be concluded if intelligence emotional has an influence on social science learning achievement in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Ambawang.

Abstract

The importance of map reading ability for geography education students is as a form of graduates who master map skills, both to be used in the context of teaching or other purposes. This study aims to determine how much the ability of students in reading maps, which is divided into three classifications, namely: 1) reading maps; 2) analyzing maps; and 3) interpreting maps. The sample of this research is all geography education student’s class 2022 Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Tanjungpura University which amounted to 26 people. Ability testing is done by using a test containing map reading skills outlined in the form of essay questions covering 10 tests with three classifications of ability. The data analysis technique used is the presentative formula to see how much the value of map reading skills in students. The results of this study showed that 1) the ability to read maps scored 73.07%; 2) the ability to analyze maps scored 77.40%; and 3) the ability to interpret maps scored 42.94%. Based on the total ability, the average score of students' ability is 64.90% with the classification of good ability.

Abstract

Research related to the level of knowledge of reading blind maps in students is important to determine the understanding of the location of the area as a form of basic Geography skills that are very much needed by students in 21st century learning. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of reading blind maps and the basic elements of maps in Junior High School students. The knowledge indicators analyzed include three indicators, namely the indicator of remembering (C1), understanding (C2), and applying (C3). This study uses a descriptive quantitative method. Approximately 34 students were selected using a total sampling technique with data analysis using descriptive percentages and Guttman scale questionnaires. Based on the results of the study, the level of knowledge of students in the remembering indicator has a very high percentage, namely 93.3%; the indicator of understanding is 83.3%; and the indicator of applying is 70.5%, while the level of knowledge of map elements in students in the indicator of knowledge of blind maps is 76.8%, the indicator of function on the map is 62.8%, and the indicator of map elements is 86.2%. Therefore, it can be concluded that students have a level of knowledge and know the basic elements on the map with a very high classification.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of combining the analogy method with Canva infographics to enhance conceptual understanding and student engagement in Sociology learning, a subject often perceived as abstract and unengaging. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted with 36 grade XI Sociology 6 students at SMA Negeri 8 Pontianak. Data collection involved pretests, posttests, Likert-scale questionnaires, and observation sheets to assess understanding and engagement. The findings revealed a significant improvement in posttest scores (mean pretest = 62.5; posttest = 81.5; p 0.001). The gain index (G = 0.5278) indicated a moderate increase in conceptual understanding, while Cohen’s d value of 1.58 reflected a large effect size. The analogy method simplified abstract sociological concepts by linking them to students’ real-life experiences, while Canva infographics provided creative and systematic visualizations of complex ideas. This combination also encouraged critical and creative thinking, enhancing student engagement. The study highlights the potential of integrating analogy-based methods with digital tools like Canva to address challenges in teaching abstract subjects. The findings support constructivist and dual-coding theories, which emphasize experiential learning and the integration of verbal and visual information. This research demonstrates that analogy methods paired with Canva infographics significantly improve students’ understanding and engagement in Sociology. Further studies should explore the broader applicability of this method across diverse subjects, educational levels, and learning environments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di wilayah perbatasan Indonesia Malaysia, yang tidak hanya menuntut pemerataan akses, tetapi juga penguatan aspek psikologis peserta didik, salah satunya melalui student engagement. Student engagement mencakup dimensi perilaku, emosional, dan kognitif yang berperan penting dalam menunjang keberhasilan akademik siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh student engagement terhadap hasil belajar sosiologi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Sajingan Besar di wilayah perbatasan Indonesia–Malaysia. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 48 siswa yang ditentukan menggunakan teknik stratified sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner student engagement dan dokumentasi nilai ulangan mata pelajaran sosiologi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi linear sederhana dengan uji prasyarat berupa uji normalitas, linearitas, dan heteroskedastisitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa student engagement berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar dengan nilai signifikansi 0,013 (< 0,05) dan koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,128. Meskipun demikian, arah pengaruh yang negatif menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan belajar siswa belum sepenuhnya diarahkan pada pencapaian akademik. Oleh karena itu, keterlibatan belajar perlu difokuskan pada aktivitas yang bersifat kognitif dan berorientasi pada prestasi belajar.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan guna memahami berapa besar kemajuan keaktifan belajar siswa dengan melalui model Discovery Learning pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi di kelas XI Sosiologi 6 SMA N 5 Pontianak. Teknik studi yang diterapkan ialah deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Teknik perolehan data yang diterapkan berupa observasi. Sumber data studi ini berupa guru dan siswa kelas XI Sosiologi 6 dan datanya adalah lembar observasi pelaksanaan dalam pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru kolaborator serta lembar observasi keaktifan belajar siswa. Studi ini berjalan pada dua tahapan, setiap siklus terbagi menjadi (1) perencanaan, (2) tindakan, (3) observasi atau pengamatan, dan (4) refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan Pada siklus I rata-rata keaktifan siswa 62% dan pada pelaksanaan siklus II rata-rata keaktifan siswa adalah 76% atau meningkat 14% dibanding rata-rata keaktifan siswa siklus I. Maka dari itu didapati penerapan model Discovery Learning dapat mendorong partisipasi belajar peserta didik kelas XI Sosiologi 6 SMA N 5 Pontianak.
