Abstract

Cassava is the most processed staple food crops in Indonesia. Processed cassava micro and small enterprises (MSEs) are responsible for most cassava value-adding process. The major obstacle to the growth of MSEs is financing—a problem of the limited source of fund. Despite the presence of government financing support to MSEs, the number of processed cassava MSEs that have involved financing is still low. This study aimed to analyze the financing impact on the performance of processed cassava MSEs and to identify which factors influence the performance of processed cassava MSEs. Cross-sectional data of the MSEs Survey conducted in 2015 by Badan Pusat Statistik and analysis tool Multiple Linear Regression was used to answer the research objectives. Results showed that financing had a positive and significant impact on processed cassava MSEs’ sales revenue, but did not have any impact on their assets. Factors that significantly affected the performance of processed cassava MSEs were working hours per day, input value, training, products marketed in town, and business belongs in chips industry.

Abstract

A partnership is a form of cooperation that is needed to be done for business development so that it can be globally competitive. With the existence of a partnership, it can improve the ability of small businesses through capital support and professional resource training to increase business income and continuity. In Indonesia, tofu business is one of the micro and small businesses that have the potential to be developed. To improve business performance, it is necessary to collaborate among tofu businesses and large businesses or state-owned enterprises. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of partnerships and other factors on the performance of the tofu business in Indonesia. Tofu businesses can be grouped into two categories, namely partner and non-partner businesses. To estimate the performance of tofu businesses in Indonesia, multiple linear regression method was used. The data used in this study were collected from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, in which 237 tofu businesses were taken as samples. The results showed that partnership had a positive and significant impact on tofu businesses income. Besides, business life, raw material cost, labour force and marketing allocation also positively significant affected tofu businesses income. However, the level of education, the age of the entrepreneur, the number of tools used, business capital, training, sales distribution, and cooperatives did not significantly affect tofu businesses income.

Abstract

Currently, Indonesia has a 265 million population in which more than one-third of the population is the modern generation who are more likely to have a preference for something that simple and practical like taking a meal in the restaurant. Bogor is one of the cities generally known for its culinary varieties. Waroeng Hotplate Odon is one of them which uniquely serves dishes, which uses hot plates and has a spiciness level and its sales experienced a downward trend due to high competition among the restaurants. This research aims to analyze the effect of marketing mix consist of 7P variables which are: product, promotion, place, price, people, process and physical evidence towards customer satisfaction and customer loyalty of Waroeng Hotplate Odon restaurant. The sample of the research is 393 people who visited Waroeng Hotplate Odon restaurant. The sampling method applied in this study is purposive sampling using a questionnaire distributed to Waroeng Hotplate Odon visitors. The structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method is used to analyze the data. This research showed that 4 variables affect customer satisfaction and loyalty of Waroeng Hotplate Odon visitors, which are price, process and physical evidence. The satisfaction variable has a significant effect on consumer loyalty, which is reflected by consumers' willingness to make repeat purchases and recommend restaurants to other parties. In general, respondents feel satisfied and loyal to the restaurant. Based on the result of the study, the following strategies to increase customer loyalty of Waroeng Hotplate Odon are improving the quality of flavour, spiciness level, variety of the menu, offering menu with more affordable prices, improving restaurant’s layout and parking spaces, and implementing a service system based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemasaran ikan cakalang di Kabupaten Halmahera Selatan Provinsi Maluku Utara melalui pendekatan struktur, perilaku dan kinerja pasar dan menganalisis efisiensi pemasaran ikan cakalang di Kabupaten Halmahera Selatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan, struktur pasar yang terbentuk ialah struktur pasar oligopoly kuat. Struktur pasar ikan di tingkat pedagang besar di PPP Bacan memiliki konsentrasi yang cukup tinggi dilihat dari nilai CR4 mendekati 50 persen. Sementara, tingkat konsentrasi pada pedagang grosir mendekati 75 persen atau oligopoli kuat dan ditingkat perusahaan terdapat 1 perusahaan menguasai 47 persen pangsa pasar dan terdapat 4 perusahaan menguasai 82 persen pangsa pasar. Pasar ikan cakalang tidak memiliki hambatan yang sigfikan untuk masuk dilihat dari Nilai MES 1.8 persen Perilaku pasar menunjukan bahwa nelayan tidak mempunyai kekuatan dalam penetapan harga dan hanya berperan sebagai price taker Terdapat 7 saluran pemasaran ikan cakalang besar. Margin pemasaran terbesar berada pada saluran 3 (nelayan-pedagang besar-pedagang grosir dan konsumen) Terdapat 3 saluran pemasaran pada ikan cakalang kecil dengan saluran pemasaran terbesar berada pada saluran pemasaran 9 (nelayan-pedagang besar- UKM). Farmer Share terbesar berada pada saluran 1 (nelayan dan industri perikanan) untuk ikan cakalang besar dan saluran 9 ( nelayan-pedagang besar- UKM) untuk ikan cakalang kecil.

Abstract

Beef consumption needs of Indonesian  population tends to increase with the increasing number of the population and public awareness of the importance of animal protein. Meanwhile the price of beef and broiler meat are fluctuative. The value of volatility describes how much the level of risk that will be faced in the future. Fluctuations in the price of beef and broiler meat can be caused by  the unequilibrium of supply and demand.  The objectives of this research are (1) to identify the price volatility forecasting models of beef and broiler meat in Indonesia, (2) to identify factors that affect the price volatility of beef and broiler meat in Indonesia, and (3) to identify alternative strategies related to the price volatility of beef and broiler meat in Indonesia. This research used secondary data with the  time series form in the period of February 2003 to February 2013. In this research ARCH-GARCH was used to analyze the price volatility of beef and broiler meat in Indonesia. This analysis showed that the price volatility of beef and broiler meat in Indonesia would be smaller. Factors that affect the price volatility of beef in Indonesia are the price volatility of previous period and the price variance of the previous period. While the factors that affects the price volatility of broiler meat in Indonesia is the amount of price volatility in the previous period.

Abstract

The majority of sheep farmers in Indonesia are small-scale ones who use grass which depends on weather as the feed. Petir Village is one of the villages in Bogor Sub-district where the sheep farmers raise their sheep traditionaly. Cassava leaf silage can be an alternative of good quality feed. Introduction of cassava leaf silage can affect the feasibility of livestock business. This study aimed to analyze the feasibility of sheep farming in terms of financial and nonfinancial aspects of introducing cassava leaf silage. Feasibility of non-financial aspects were analyzed using the legal, markets and marketing, management, technical, social, and environmental impact aspects. Whereas feasibility of financial aspects were analyzed using the feasibility criterias Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Net Benefit-Cost Ratio (Net B/C), Gross Benefit-Cost Ratio (Gross B/C), and Payback Period. By introducing cassava leaf silage, the results of market and marketing, social, and environmental aspects showed that the business was feasible. Meanwhile, the result of financial analysis on the condition of introducing cassava leaf silage feed was not feasible for any business scale. Cassava leaf silage was not feasible when done individually so the formation of farmer groups can be a solution. In addition, farmers need information and training related to the implementation of cassava leaf silage to sheep.

Abstract

Drying nutmeg companies rely on sunlight to dry the nutmeg. In fact, Bogor District has a high rainfall intensity. This condition can be overcome by using oven technology. By using oven technology, production process does not rely on the weather, the product will dry evenly, and does not require a large area. The purpose of this study is to analyze the business potential of nutmeg in Tamansari Sub-district and to design a business planbased on financial and non financial aspects. Interview was conducted to farmers and three nutmeg drying companies who were selected by snow ball sampling method. Other data were obtained from literature such as newspaper, internetand others. The results revealed that Tamansari Sub-district is an area that has the potential of natural resources, human resources, demand and marketing to develop business nutmeg. Price of dried seed was determined as Rp110 000 per kg and dried mace as Rp130 000 per kg. The target market is the export market. CV is chosen as the business form. NPV is Rp827 682 000, Net B/C3.83, IRR 67 per cent and payback period 1.92(1 year 9 months). BEP value is Rp108 248 600 in the first year and Rp372 745 700 in the next years. Business planning is feasible based on financial and non-financial analyses.

Abstract

Tight competition of dairy product’s market share makes XYZ had to distinguish their products from the competitors. A way to differentiate XYZ products from competitors was to create a business strategy. This study aimed to (1) identify the XYZ business model, (2) to evaluate the present XYZ business model, and (3) to formulate a business strategy from the evaluation of the present business model. This research was conducted using descriptive methods and tools, Business Model Canvas, and SWOT analysis. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The results of this study showed the identification of 9 elements of business models. The evaluation results indicated that the major strengths came from customer relationships element caused by a close relationship from companies to customers using dedicated personal assistance. The main weakness was the cost structure element because the production had not run efficiently. The biggest opportunity came from the customer segment element because the emergence of new customer segmentation had not been well managed. The biggest threat came from the key resources element due to limitations in getting raw materials. The formulated strategy was to optimize key resources element by creating a company-owned farm near the factory to guarantee the quantity, quality, and sustainability of raw materials.Keywords: dairy industry, business sustainability, business evaluation, business model canvas, corporate strategyAbstrak: Ketatnya persaingan pangsa pasar produk olahan susu membuat XYZ harus mampu membedakan dirinya sendiri dengan pesaing-pesaingnya. Salah satu cara untuk yang bisa dilakukan untuk bisa membedakan produk XYZ dengan pesaing adalah dengan membuat sebuah strategi bisnis yang dikembangkan setelah mengetahui model bisnis yang dijalankan dan melakukan evaluasi terhadap model bisnis yang dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mengidentifikasi model bisnis XYZ dengan pendekatan business model canvas (BMC), (2) mengevaluasi model bisnis XYZ yang telah dilakukan, dan (3) menyusun strategi perbaikan dari hasil evaluasi model bisnis XYZ. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan alat analisis BMC, dan SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Weakness). Pemilihan responden dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Hasil dari penelitian ini memperlihatkan identifikasi terhadap 9 elemen model bisni. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya kekuatan utama dari elemen hubungan pelanggan yang berasal dari program pendampingan dari perusahaan kepada pelanggan secara langsung. Sementara itu kelemahan utama terdapat pada struktur biaya karena kegiatan produksi yang belum berjalan secara efisien. Peluang terbesar berada pada segmen pelanggan karena munculnya segmentasi pelanggan baru yang belum dikelola lebih dalam dan ancaman terbesar berada pada sumberdaya kunci karena keterbatasan dalam mendapatkan bahan baku. Strategi yang dapat dilakukan adalah mengoptimalkan elemen sumberdaya kunci dengan membuat peternakan milik perusahaan yang berada berdekatan dengan lokasi pabrik sehingga kuantitas, kualitas dan keberlanjutan bahan baku dapat terjamin.Kata kunci: industri pengolahan susu, keberlanjutan bisnis, evaluasi bisnis, model bisnis kanvas, strategi perusahaan

Abstract

PT. XYZ is part of the steel industry that focuses on the automotive sector which is very possible to increase business capacity. The decline in profit ratio in the last four years has triggered the development of a business model. The research aims to (1) identify the business model canvas of PT. XYZ, (2) analysis of the influence of internal and external factors for the company, and (3) create a business development strategy. The research was conducted using descriptive methods utilizing business model canvas, SWOT, and Blue Ocean Strategy analysis tools. Research analysis techniques based on primary and secondary data collected in February 2019 - June 2019 through the method of observation, interviews, questionnaires, and literature studies. Respondents were selected by purposive sampling technique, which is the technique for determining respondents who are considered experts and understand the situation of PT. XYZ both internal and external. The business development strategy is carried out through the development of the company's current business model canvas with a combination of blue ocean strategy perspectives based on the direction of the company's business development, evaluation of business model elements, environmental analysis. According to the research results obtained two business model development strategies where the first strategy is the improvement of cost structure elements by reducing the purchase of imported raw materials and creating components of local suppliers in the key partner elements to reduce the cost of purchasing materials. The second strategy is to improve the elements of key activities by develop business operating sistems and develop customer segments, which targets companies that manufacture two-wheeled vehicle components.
