Problem focused coping need to be possessed by every individual. The purposes of this research were to described locus of control, the effectiveness of interpersonal communication, problem focused coping,the correlation between locus of control with problem focused coping, andthe correlationbetween the effectiveness of interpersonal communication with problem focused coping.This research was descriptive & correlation research by using quantitative approach. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionaire and locus of controlby using inventory Rotters Internal-External Locus of Control (I-E Scale), which was the validity and reliability has been tested. The data were analyzed by percentage technique and product moment correlation. The finding of research are:Â 1)locus of control were in the middle range between internal locus of control and external locus of control with an average as big as 11.46, 2) the general level of effectiveness of interpersonal communication is in high category, 3) the general level of problem focused coping is in high category, 4) there is correlation between locus of control withproblem focused coping, and 5) there is correlation betweeneffectiveness of interpersonal communicationwithproblem focused coping.

This research isbackground by low ofstudentsâ€™ communication interpersonal. Self confidence and emotional intelligence were two factors assumed to affect communication interpersonal. The aims of this research wereÂ to describethe contribution of the self confidence and emotional intelligencetowards communication interpersonal. This research applied quantitative method with a descriptive correlational. The population was all thestudents of SMA Negeri 8 Padang with the total of 764 students, and the samples were 263 students that were chosen by using proportional stratified random sampling.The instrument of the research was a likert scale. Validity test result of this self confidenceâ€™s instrument was 0.503, studentsâ€™ emotional intelligence was 0.430, and communication interpersonal was 0.675. Reliability test result of self confidenceâ€™s instrument was 0.819, emotional intelligence was 0.888, and communication interpersonal was 0.902. The dataÂ were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, simple and multiple regression. The research findings indicated that: (1) averagely, description of the self confidence was at high level, (2) emotional intelligence was at high level, (3)communication interpersonal was categorized at high level, (4) there was 19,6% (R=0.443, on significance 0.000) in self confidence contribution towardsÂ communication interpersonal, (5) there was 33,1% (R=0.575, significance 0.000) in emotional intelligence towards communication interpersonal, (6) there was 33,2% (R=0.576, on significance 0.000) in contribution together with self confidence and emotional intelligence towards communication interpersonal. The implication of this research can be made as a need assessment to make a program of guidance and counseling service in SMA Negeri 8 Padang.

The purpose of this research is to reveal the locus of control with the relation to the studentâ€™s cheating behavior in grade 10Â of high shcoolÂ Padang Ganting. This research use a descriptive correlational method. The research is conducted on students in grade 10 high schoolÂ Padang Ganting 2011-2012.as many as 439 from the populations, samples were taken by using a technique kurtosis sumpling random sample that produce 148 person. The instrument that used in this research is the locus of control scale by Rotter and cheating behavior questionnaire with likert scale and the analyzed using pearson correlation techniques.The research revealed that generally the students have an external locus of control and cheating behavior enough category. Besides, it also found a negative correlation between the score of locus of control and cheating behavior. The implication of this research is an internal locus of control is needed to reduce cheating behavior.

Counselor is one of the educators who assist students in understanding their career will live in the future. Specifically for vocational students, information about the types of careers that have been linked to employment, position or career aspired after completing studies in education are taken. The purpose of this study to describe: 1) understanding students majoring in Tourism Vocational Nusatama Padang on the type of career information and a description of the types of careers, 2) attempts to provide insight counselor to students about careers Nusatama SMK Padang Tourism department. The population was 156 students. The number of sample was 111 students and have been using cluster random sampling technique. The findings of the study are: 1) students understand the types of careers and career descriptions are in the middle category, 2) counselor need to further improve the students in understanding the type and career description. Therefore counselors need to improve guidance and counseling services related to an increase students' understanding of career information and descriptions of tourism department, so students are prepared to enter the workforce. Â

Lembaga pendidikan Islam di MinangkabauÂ pada awal abad 20 yaitu surau, masih tradisional dan sangat sederhana sekali dilaksanakan secara informal dalam rangka dakwah Islam. Pendidikan dimulai dengan mempelajari abjad huruf ArabÂ dan bacanan kitab suci al-Qurâ€™an. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pengajian kitab-kitab lain, seperti kitab fiqh, Nahu, Sharaf, dan tasauf. Ilmu pengetahuan umum sama sekali belum diajarkan di lembaga pendidikan ini. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, maka kaum mudo Minangkabau melakukan pembaharuan terhadap Pendidikan Islam. Usaha ini tidak terlepas dari konsep manusia sebagai khalifah di muka bumi yang bertugas mengatur dan menjalani kehidupan secara baik. Menjalani kehidupan secara baik tentunya manusia secara umum dan murid di madrasah/ sekolah secara khusus membutuhkan arahan dalam mewujudkan dirinya untuk melaksanakan tugas-tugas sebagai khalifah tersebut.Â Pelayanan bimbingan konseling di madrasah/ sekolah memegang peranan dalam membantu siswa agar dapat mengenal dan menerima diri sendiri, mengenal dan menerima lingkungan secara positif dan dinamis, serta mampu mengambil keputusan, mengarahkan dan mewujudkan diri sendiri secara efektif dan produktif sesuai dengan peran yang diinginkanya di masa depan. Usaha pembaharuan pendidikan tentunya akan berhasil lebih baik jika dalam pelaksanaannya mengacu pada konsep pelayanan bimbingan dan konseling. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana bentuk pembaharuan pendidikan yang dilakukan Kaum Mudo Minangkabau serta implikasinya terhadap pelayanan bimbingan dan konseling. Pemilihan permasalah ini sebagai kajian penelitian karena pembaharuan yang dilaksanakan Kaum Mudo Minangkabau ini merupakan awal kebangkitan pendidikan Islam di Indonesia dan nuansa madrasah yang dikembangkan dalam gerakan pembaharuan ini menjadi corak terhadap kemanjuan pendidikan nasional di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian sejarah, dengan menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pembaharuan pendidikan Islam di Minangkabau dilakukan secara bertahap dengan mengacu kepada pembaharuan terhadap lembaga, metode dan materi pendidikan yang dilaksanakan. Usaha pembaharuan belum menunjukan hasil yang memuaskan untuk madrasah sekarang ini meskipun sudah digalakan sejak lama. Konsep pelayanan bimbingan konseling belum tersentuh dalam usaha pembaharuan ini. Tentunya ke depan pelayanan bimbingan konseling lebih diperkuat untuk mencapai madrasah yang lebih baik dan bermutu.

Self-Efficacyis the most important factorforstudentsâ€™successto face examination,becauseself-efficacy beliefs made a powerful and independent contribution to the prediction of their academic performance.Modeling is one of technique usedto increase itandGroup guidancewas helpful in increasing studentsâ€™ self-efficacy. This research sought to see the effectiveness of group guidance to increase the studentsâ€™ self-efficacy through modeling to face examination. The subject of the research was 9 students in class XII of Pesantren Modern Diniyyah Pasia Assumed to have low self-efficacy.This research was classified into pre-experimental research which applied The One Group Pretest-Postest design. The treatment was given throuh modeling in eight meetings. The data were gathered by using self-efficacy scale which had been validated previously. The result of the research revealed that the application of group guidance service through modeling was effective to increase the studentsâ€™ self-efficacy into better category. The students were confident about their ability to face examination, they were sure that they could maintain themselves, and they had confident to organize their ability to face other situation or condition.

Communication skills are essential for students, where is communication skills is an abilityfor extending message exactly to others and students be able to perform in front of public. Infact thatthere is a student who tends to have less verbal, fail to express thoughts and ideas in his mind, getanxious on public speaking, feel heart beats very fast and perspire just before starting a speech, afeeling of helplessness building up when speaking on public speaking. This study aims to know therelationship between communication skills with public speaking anxiety. Correlation Productmoment analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between skills communication andpublic speaking anxiety r = -0,785 0,01. The result showed that there was a negative correlationalbetween skills communication with public speaking anxiety. It means the higher students skillscommunication then their public speaking anxiety level becomes lower and contrary, lower studentsskills communication then their public speaking anxiety level become higher.

This research is purpose to know the effectiveness in improving â€œlayanan informasiâ€ about learning motivation of students. This research used experimental techniques that involving 80 students for group experimental and control group. This research resulted is a significant increase of motivation of learning of students before and after the experiment group given the treatment â€œlayanan informasiâ€ by utilizing the principles of high touch (posttest). Beside that, there are also differences in students learning motivation level control group before and after treatment in the form of â€œlayanan informasiâ€ provided without utilizing the principles of high touch. Increase the motivation of learning in the experimental group is given preferential treatment in the form of â€œlayanan informasiâ€ by utilizing the principles of high touch, that much higher when compared to the control group when its not given in the form of treatment the principles of high touch in â€œlayanan informasiâ€. The results of this research is recommended for the teacher/counselor at school that can improve the implementation of â€œlayanan informasiâ€ to increase the motivation of students in learning by utilizing the principles of high touch. Each year students will look for a suitable school for students. Problems arise when there are a lot of options that provide diverse schools offer to prospective students. Contributions of students self concept and parents involvement supposed to influence in the selection of secondary schools. This study aimed to describe: 1) self-concept of students of SMPN 25 Padang, 2) parents involvement of SMPN 25 Padang, 3) students secondary school selection, 4) the contribution of students self-concept against secondary school selection, 5) contribution parental involvement against secondary school selection, 6) the contribution of students self-concept and parental involvement against secondary school selection. This corelational descriptive research applied quantitative method. The population of the research were students in grade IX of SMPN 25 Padang also using proportional random sampling technique. The instrument of this research was the Likert scale model. The data obtained were analyzed by using descriptive statistic, simple regression and multiple regression. The research findings were: 1) students self concept in average were in high category, 2) parental involvement in average were in high category, 3) students selection of secondary school were in high category, 4) there are significance different between students self concept against students selection of secondary school amount 44.3% (R = 0.666), 5) there are significance different between parental involvement toward students selection of secondary school amount 51.1% (R = 0.715), and 6) there are significance different between students self concept and parental involvement toward students selection of secondary school amount 54.2% (R = 0.736). The implication of this research may useful to design a guidance and counseling program, especially career guidance.

Career maturity is readiness of individuals to deal with the tasks of the development of his/her career. Studentâ€™s development career task is make his/her education as a career direction. This study aims to describe career maturity of the Faculty Education Universitas Negeri Padang students class 2014, according to decision making style and gender. Population of this research is 336 students of Faculty Education Universitas Negeri Padang, with samples are 183 students choosen by proportional random sampling. The instruments used in this research is the career maturity scale and Assessment of Career Decision Making of Harren (1979). The results of this research are: 1) studentâ€™s career maturity are different significantly according to decision making style, 2) studentâ€™s career maturity arenâ€™t different according to gender, 3) there isnâ€™t interaction of decision making style and gender in explaining studentâ€™s career maturity.
