Abstract

Increased hearing threshold is acute or chronic hearing loss caused by noise exposure that it can reduce the ability of auditory sense function. The hearing threshold in people can be detected by doing an audiometric test to determine hearing ability in certain intensity. Based on preliminary studies, one manufacturing industry in Semarang, Central Java has implemented the Hearing Conservation Program, one of the efforts to control the potential noise hazards. The aim was determine the relationship between the effectiveness of the Hearing Conservation Program implementation with an increased hearing threshold for workers. The research design was descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used a total sampling of 26 respondents who were workers in the work area with noise>85 dBA, and had done audiometry tests. The research instruments used were questionnaires and observation sheets from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in A Practical Guide to Effective Hearing Conservation Programs in the Workplace with publication number 90-120 Appendix A, namely OSHA Noise Standard Compliance Checklist. Statistical analysis using the Rank Spearman. The results was no relationship age (p-value 0.607), and work period (p-value 0.162), and disease history (p-value 0.282) increase threshold in manufacturing industry workers. The application of the Hearing Conservation Program in the manufacturing industry in this case includes an effective one with a work <5% that is equal to 0.38%. Researchers to conduct safety briefings on workers who are in a very high work area and provide benefits for personal protective equipment while working.

Abstract

Cutting activities are activities that cover a variety of manual material handling activities, including lowering, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and use of equipment. This work may result in injury if the worker performs activities that exceed his physical capacity. Handle of this material is not only a heavy material handling, but light and small materials when repeated, long duration and incorrect posture can lead to musculoskeletal disorder complaints (MSDs). The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between ergonomic risk level of postures and loading weight on musculoskeletal disorder complaints (MSDs). The type of research used is quantitative with observational analytic and cross sectional study. The population of the research were all wood cutting workers in cutting factory which amounted to 30 people with sampling method is total sampling. The data was collected by filling the Body Map sheet for MSDs complaints and measuring the loading weight using the meteran to know the volume and filling out the BRIEF survey sheet to measure the work posture. Data analysis using Chi Square test. The result of hypothesis test shows that there was correlation between ergonomic risk level of right wrist posture (p-value = 0,028), right elbow (p-value = 0,002), left shoulder (p-value = 0,009), right shoulder (p-value = 0,037), neck (p-value = 0.009), back (p-value = 0.013), legs (p-value = 0.027), loading weight(p-value = 0,023, 0,002, 0,023, 0,023, 0,002, 0,008, 0,002, 0,028,0,002) with MSDs complaints. There was no correlation between left wrist (p-value = 0.141) and left elbow (p-value = 0.236) with MSDs complaints of wood cutting workers X Mranggen, Demak. Abstract

Abstract

Fatigue is a form of body protection mechanism in order to avoid any further damage, and rest is required for body recovery. Fatigue can be influenced by internal and external factors of the worker. PT X Plant Jakarta is a company focuses on remanufacturing heavy equipment components that have a working target for the mechanics. This study aims to analyze the correlation between nutritional status, sleep duration, work period and workload with fatigue at PT X Plant Jakarta. The design of this research is explanatory with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were the mechanics which amounted to 26 peoples using total sampling method. In this study, sleep duration, work period and the fatigue levels were measured by the questionnaire, while nutritional status was measured by IMT measurement, and the workload was measured by Ten Pulse Method. Statistical analysis is using Chi Square with the results showed that variable which is not related fatigue was sleep duration (p value = 0.238), and work period (p value = 1,000). While there are two variables research showed the correlation between fatigue was nutritional status (p value = 0.005), and workload (p value = 0.014). Companies should pay attention to the nutrition of the workers, allow the workers to stretch their muscle stretching
