Abstract

Purpose-This study aims to investigates the effectiveness of audiovisual media, specifically the Indonesian historical film Kadet 1947, in enhancing students’ historical awareness in a vocational education setting.Methodology-The research employed a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, involving 47 students. Data collection was carried out first with Quantitative data using an instrument in the form of a historical awareness questionnaire, followed by qualitative data from classroom observations and in-depth interviews with selected students. Quantitative data analysis included tests of normality, homogeneity, and paired sample t-tests. Qualitative data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's (1994) model through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.Findings- The study result based on a Quantitative analysis using paired sample t-tests showed a significant increase in historical awareness in the experimental group (p = 0.000< 0,05). In contrast, no significant change was observed in the control group (p = 0.457> 0.05). These results were supported by qualitative findings, which revealed emotional engagement, reflective thinking, identity formation, and increased appreciation for historical artifacts and heritage preservation. The study concludes that Kadet 1947 effectively improves students' historical awareness by reinforcing cognitive understanding and emotional connection to history. This implies integrating local historical films into vocational education to build national identity and promote culturally relevant, pedagogically effective learning.Contribution-The study contributes to history education by offering a media-integrated, context-based instructional approach that supports critical historical awareness and media literacy aligned with students' academic and professional identities.

Abstract

Technology-based learning media have been proven to enhance learning by making it more engaging and increasing student interaction, motivation, and overall learning outcomes. However, few studies discuss students' perceptions of the types of learning media that effectively overcome their learning difficulties. Therefore, this study aims to determine students' perceptions of effective learning media that can help them overcome their learning difficulties. The quantitative descriptive method used in this study was applied to grade X students at SMAN 1 Ketapang, with samples selected using a proportional random sampling technique. Data were collected through Google Forms questionnaires containing both closed and open-ended questions and analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. This study's findings suggest that students' learning difficulties are often attributed to a lack of motivation, focus, and drowsiness. The teacher's delivery method also contributes to these difficulties, as it is less engaging, difficult to follow, and does not provide clear examples. This research highlights the importance of interactive learning media tailored to students' motivational and cognitive needs, as well as the need for regulatory and policy support in implementing these learning media. Through a comprehensive discussion, this research contributes to the development of more effective digital learning.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the forms of abuse of subsidized Fuel Oil (BBM) and analyze the legal review of law enforcement against such acts in the Province of Bangke Belitung Island. The misuse of subsidized fuel not only causes state losses but also directly impacts the community, particularly low-income groups who are intended to be the primary beneficiaries. The research method employed is a normative juridical approach with a legislative focus and case analysis in the region. The research results indicate that subsidized fuel abuse in the Province of Bangka Belitung Island occurs through practices such as hoarding, diversion of distribution, and document forgery. Legally, law enforcement efforts face various challenges, including weak distribution oversight, limited inter-agency coordination, and legal sanctions that have yet to have a deterrent effect. This research recommends strengthening regulations, enhancing supervision, and imposing stricter sanctions to curb the misuse of subsidized fuel and protect community rights.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of intelligence on soft skill competence and to analyze models predicting improvements in soft skill competence based on intelligence in maritime vocational colleges under the Ministry of Transportation, which is responsible for producing seafarers in Indonesia. This study employs a quantitative and inferential approach to test the hypothesis. Data were collected from 217 prospective graduates at the Politeknik Pelayaran Surabaya, Indonesia. The sampling technique used is stratified cluster random sampling, selecting samples from three majors: Nautical, Engineering, and Electrical. The instruments used in this research include standardized tests and a questionnaire, both of which have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares (PLS) with Smart PLS software to examine the structural relationships among variables and produce a predictive model of soft skill competence based on intellectual intelligence (IQ) and Adversity Quotient (AQ). The results of this study indicate a significant and positive direct influence of IQ on soft skill competence by 50% and an indirect influence of IQ on soft skill competence through AQ by 6.8%. The analysis further reveals a positive and significant influence of IQ on AQ by 21.4% and a direct positive influence of AQ on soft skill competence by 31.8%. The structural analysis of the model using PLS demonstrates that IQ and AQ together influence soft skill competence with an overall predictive power of 44.9%. This research contributes to understanding the relationship between intelligence and soft skills development, which can serve as a foundation for formulating maritime vocational education policies. The findings highlight the importance of integrating both cognitive intelligence and resilience-building strategies into maritime education curricula to enhance the preparedness and employability of future seafarers.

Abstract

Learning media play a vital role in enhancing students' understanding by transforming abstract concepts into concrete experiences, especially in today's technology-driven educational landscape. This study aims to analyze Junior High School students' preferences for learning media based on five indicators: learning modality, engagement and motivation, media effectiveness, technology and media use, and assessment preferences. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected through a four-point Likert scale questionnaire administered to 93 students across three Junior High Schools in Bener Meriah Regency. The findings reveal a strong preference for technology-based and multimodal learning media that integrate visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements. Virtual laboratories were considered the most effective in facilitating concept comprehension, while multiple-choice tests were the most preferred form of assessment due to their objectivity and practicality. These results underscore the need for developing adaptive, interactive, and student-centered media that cater to diverse learning styles. This study contributes to the growing literature on media preferences by providing empirical insights that can help educators select more suitable learning tools and design inclusive instructional strategies. Such understanding is essential for improving student engagement, motivation, and academic achievement in 21st-century learning environments.

Abstract

The integration of deep learning into Social Studies  education presents new possibilities for enhancing students' understanding and shaping their character in the face of globalization. This research investigates how deep learning techniques can be applied in social studies education by utilizing Arjun Appadurai’s social theory of globalization, which identifies five dimensions of global cultural flows: ethnoscapes, technoscapes, finanscapes, mediascapes, and ideoscapes. These aspects guide students in developing critical thinking skills and adaptability in a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected. Through a qualitative approach and a comprehensive literature review, this study explores the potential of deep learning techniques, including neural networks and natural language processing, to create personalized learning experiences that foster engagement with global social issues. By integrating deep learning into social studies curricula, students gain the ability to analyze globalization’s impact on societies with a more interdisciplinary perspective. Findings suggest that deep learning encourages analytical thinking, ethical reasoning, and intercultural awareness, preparing students to address modern global challenges effectively. This research highlights the importance of aligning artificial intelligence with educational principles to build a more dynamic and responsive social studies curriculum. Ultimately, the study seeks to bridge theoretical insights with practical applications, promoting the development of globally competent individuals capable of critical reflection and ethical decision-making

Abstract

This research aims to examine the criminalisation aspect of the act of transferring the object of fiduciary guarantee without the written consent of the fiduciary recipient in the perspective of criminal law, with a case study of the Pangkalpinang District Court Decision Number 118/Pid.Sus/2024/PN Pgp. In this case, the defendant was sentenced to criminal punishment for transferring the vehicle which was the object of fiduciary guarantee to a third party without the consent of the financing party. The research method used in this research is normative juridical with a case approach. The results of the analysis show that the criminalisation of the act aims to provide legal protection for the financing institution, but on the other hand it raises a debate because the act of civil default is qualified as a criminal act. This study recommends the need for harmonisation between civil and criminal law in responding to violations of fiduciary agreements so as not to cause excessive criminalisation and still uphold the principle of justice.
