AbstractRegarding education is a means of countries to develop, there are some policiesand strategies to fulfill the above mission. Such as to provide good infrastructures andstructures to develop curriculum, to develop the quality of teachers, to increase education budget and to adopt the good aspect of others education system.This article is to elaborate education system in United States of America. Despite there are some countries which have good education system, USA has relatively good education system. It is not surprisingly that there are some qualified universities, so that some students choose these universities for studying. Up to now the numbers of Indonesian graduate from USA is still in the first range.Keywords: Education, policy.

Penelitian ini mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model PBL dan model CTL; serta membedakan efektivitas antara model CTL dan model PBL untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS di SMPN 2 Bantul. Jenis penelitian adalah quasi experiment dengan subject match design. Populasi penelitian seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Bantul yang berjumlah 6 kelas. Sampel dipilih sebanyak dua kelas menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Kelas VIII B sebagai kelompok eksperimen 1 (CTL), dan kelas VIII C sebagai kelompok eksperimen 2 (PBL). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan independent sample t-test, dilanjutkan dengan effect size. Hasil penelitian terdapat perbedaan peningkatan hasil belajar yang signifikan antara siswa yang belajar dengan model PBL dan model CTL. Model PBL lebih efektif daripada model CTL untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS. Dapat dilihat dari effect size model PBL sebesar 3,02 lebih tinggi daripada effect size model CTL sebesar 2,02. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE CTL MODEL AND PBL MODEL ON THELEARNING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SOCIAL STUDIESAbstractThis study aims to know the significant difference of the learning achievement improvement between students who are taught by using the PBL model and that of those taught by using the CTL model, and the effectiveness between CTL and PBL models on the learning achievement in the Social Studies of the students of SMPN 2 Bantul. This research is a quasi experiment with the match subject design. The population is all of 8 grade students of SMPN 2 Bantul. The sample was selected from two classes by using the random sampling technique. The first group was class VIII B (CTL), and the second group was class VIII C (PBL). The data collecting technique used was a test. The data analysis used the independent sample t-test, followed by the effect size.The result of this research shows that there is a significant difference of the learning achievement improvement between the students who were taught by using the PBL model and that of those taught by using the CTL model. It means the PBL model is more effective than the CTL model in improving the learning achievement in the Social Studies. It can be seen from the effect size of the PBL model 3.02 which is higher than that of the CTL model, that is 2.02.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) perbedaan peningkatan kerja sama siswa antara kelas yang menggunakan metode STAD dan metode TPS dalam pembelajaran IPS di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Margoyoso Pati Jawa Tengah, dan (2) perbedaan peningkatan aktivitas belajar siswa antara kelas yang menggunakan metode STAD dan metode TPS dalam pembelajaran IPS di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Margoyoso Pati Jawa Tengah. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP N 1 Margoyoso Pati Jawa Tengah. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling dan terpilih kelas VII D diberi perlakuan dengan menggunakan metode STAD dan kelas VII A menggunakan metode TPS. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen nontes yaitu angket kerja sama dan aktivitas belajar siswa. Validitas instrumen menggunakan analisis faktor. Reliabilitas instrumen diuji dengan rumus Cronbach’s Alpha. Uji normalitas data menggunakan Kolmogorov Smirnov dan uji homogenitas menggunakan Levene Test. Pengujian perbedaan peningkatan kerja sama dan aktivitas belajar siswa dianalisis dengan Independent Sample T Test pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kerja sama siswa yang signifikan antara kelas yang menggunakan metode STAD dan metode TPS dalam pembelajaran IPS di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Margoyoso Pati Jawa Tengah, dan (2) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan aktivitas belajar siswa yang signifikan antara kelas yang menggunakan metode STAD dan metode TPS dalam pembelajaran IPS di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Margoyoso Pati Jawa Tengah.Kata kunci: student team achievement divison, think pair share, kerja sama siswa, aktivitas belajar siswa THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN STAD METHOD AND TPS TO PROMOTE STUDENT'S TEAMWORK AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES ON SOCIAL STUDIES LEARNING IN SMPAbstractThis research aims to know: (1) the difference between student’s teamwork enhancement using STAD method and TPS method on social studies in class VII SMP N 1 Margoyoso Pati Central Java, and (2) the difference between student’s learning activities enhancement using STAD method and TPS method on social studies in class VII SMP N 1 Margoyoso Pati Central Java. The population in this study were all seventh-grade students of SMP N 1 Margoyoso Pati Central Java. Sampling was done by cluster random sampling technique on the group of population which is class VII treated by STAD method and class VII A by TPS method. The instrument used was a non-test instrument which is teamwork instrument and learning activities instrument. The validity of the instrument was measured by factor analysis. The reliability of instrument was measured using Cronbach’s Alpha. Data normality test used Kolmogorov Smirnov and homogeneity test used Levene Test. The difference of increased teamwork and learning activities was analyzed by Independent Sample T-Test with the significance level of 0.05. The results show that: (1) there is a significant difference between student’s teamwork increase using STAD method and TPS method during social studies learning on the seventh-grade students of SMP N 1 Margoyoso Pati Central Java, and (2) there is a significant difference between the increase of student’s learning activities using STAD method and TPS method during social studies learning on the seventh-grade students of SMP N 1 Margoyoso Pati Central Java.Keywords: student team achievement division, think pair share, student's teamwork, student's learning activities

This study aims to improve the ability of English listening skills toward the grade IX A2 students of SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja through DiET BOS technique. The study used a classroom action research design. The subjects of this study were the 29 students of grade IX A2 at SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja in Academic Year 2017/2018. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The data analysis revealed that the mean score of students’ ability in listening to the text in the first cycle is equal to 77,93 and the mean score of students’ ability in listening to the text in the second cycle is 86,21. Based on those findings, it can be concluded that the students’ listening skill in the first cycle to the second cycle has increased to 8,28. According to the data analysis results and the discussion, it can be summarised that the students’ listening skills to the text have increased significantly by the application of the DiET BOS technique in the first cycle to the second cycle.

The activeness of inter-student English-language communication in class is still very lacking. Students tend to be passive and lack of confidence in communicating using English. Student’s ability in telling stories is still unsatisfactory. This research is intended to find alternative solutions to improve their abilities in narrative stories. "Barneto Dora" is offered as a method to overcome those problems. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of Barneto Dora and to find out the results of its improvements. The method used in this study is classroom action research. The research subjects are students of Class IX E of SMP 4 Tuban. The technique of collecting data used in this study are observation, field notes, questionnaires, and tests. The data is analyzed by qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. The results indicate that through Barneto Dora, students' English storytelling skills increased significantly. This increase can be seen from the increase in the average class score in storytelling. The previous class average score is 55.27 and increased to 78.00.

This research and development aims to: 1) investigate the social studies learning media of motion comic on multicultural values in the materials of independence proclamation. This research and development utilized the Borg Gall model. The stages of development were: 1) gathering information; 2) planning; 3) developing product; 4) validating. The results of this study indicate that all aspects of the assessment obtain good results. According to learning media material experts, Motion Comic gets a percentage of 98% and is in the very good category, which is very feasible to use. The multicultural values contained in the motion comics include tolerance, respect and appreciation, learning to live in differences, conflict resolution, mutual trust and maintaining mutual understanding and respect.

The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts of blended learning in increasing interest in learning Social Sciences in a secondary school. This study uses the Kemmis McTaggart action research model. The research was carried out throughout two cycles. Each cycle includes four levels, namely planning, implementation of activities, supervision, and contemplation consisting of 3 meetings per cycle. The data collection techniques used were observation forms, field notes, documents, questionnaires, and tests. A descriptive analysis of qualitative data was used to analyze the data. The results of the study prove that the use of blended learning in this school can increase interest in learning social studies using the blended learning phase between traditional courses and virtual/virtual courses. In-class learning and teacher-supervised mixed learning, and virtual classroom learning require students to study independently without teacher supervision. Using this type of learning will increase students' interest in learning from Cycle I to Cycle II. The average value of the first cycle is 63.5%, and the average value of the second cycle is 81%. Various aspects also experienced development. From cycle I to cycle II the average aspect of student attention experienced an escalation of 20%. From Cycle I to Cycle II, thirst increased by an average of 17%. Activity increased by an average of 19%. Cycle I and Cycle II curiosity increased by 21%. Enjoyment period I to period II increased by 17%. Confidence increased 16% from Cycle I to Cycle II.

Penanaman karakter harus ditanamkan sejak dini kepada peserta didik. Program adiwiyata menjadi salah satu program yang di kembangkan pemerintah melalui Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup. Program ini sebagai upaya dalam menanamkan karakter peduli lingkungan kepada peserta didik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui implementasi pembentukan karakter peduli lingkungan melalui program adiwiyata di MIN 3 Banjarmasin. Metode yang digunakan peneliti dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan analisis data Miles dan Huberman yakni pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi program adiwiyata dapat membentuk karakter peduli lingkungan di MIN 3 Banjarmasin. Karakter peduli lingkungan yang tertanam pada peserta didik melalui program adiwiyata meliputi gotong royong, disiplin, dan kreatif.

This study aims to confirm the results of online learning for junior high school students in Yogyakarta and to clarify the impact of online learning on the development of character values. This study uses a mixed method that combines qualitative and quantitative methods. The research data were obtained by distributing questionnaires to 44 students in 249 public schools. The data collected were tabulated and analyzed to determine the effects of online learning on the responsibility character of junior high school students in Yogyakarta. The results show that the R-squared value of 0.107 impacts liabilities of 10.7 so the remaining 89.3 liabilities are influenced by other variables not included in this survey model. Hypothesis test proves that t count 2,590 t-table 1,6725 counts and significance 0.012 0 F-table 4.01 and significance 0.012 0.050. To conclude, online learning affects your sense of responsibility at the same time.

Natural Science plays an important role in developing student character to form superior and noble human resources. This study aims to identify the weaknesses of character education for adolescents in Indonesia.The components that are the focus of evaluating character education learning consist of character education program policies in schools, lesson planning, learning implementation, monitoring and results of implementing character education learning. The research samples were 309 students, 306 parents, and 40 teachers. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. The collected data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study show that schools have implemented character education in a good category in accordance with the character education policies set by the government. 53%-75% of teachers are in good standing. Parents and students have the same perception of the implementation of character education in schools that character education can be implemented properly in schools. Character education has been running but not optimal, there are still several aspects that need to be addressed such as the preparation of lesson plans for mathematics, science, Indonesia language, and social studies as well as mentoring the implementation of character education. The teacher's ability to integrate character values ​​into lesson plans needs to be improved. Recommendation: Character education should be continued by increasing teacher commitment and performance
