Abstract

This study examines the role of Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (Early Childhood Education – PAUD) teachers and families in implementing religious moderation-based education in Bengkulu City, as well as to identify the challenges encountered in both school and family environments. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, utilizing interviews and questionnaires distributed to PAUD teachers. The findings reveal that teachers' theoretical understanding of religious moderation remains limited, although some values are indirectly applied in classroom practices. Supporting and inhibiting factors include the family environment, lack of training, and the absence of a specific moderation-based curriculum. This study recommends structured teacher training and strengthened collaboration between schools and families to instill religious moderation values from an early age.

Abstract

Based on statistical data from the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2018, the dropout rate in South Sumatra Province was very high. Especially for the Palembang City area, there were about 17% of the cases of children dropping out of school in South Sumatra until 2018. The large number of children who have dropped out of school and who were not in school cause exploited children to be still often found on the streets, joining their parents to earn a living and even vulnerable to being involved in various juvenile delinquency and other criminal acts. Based on this fact, the Palembang City Government (Pemkot) in 2019, through the Palembang City Education Office, then developed a program to eradicate school dropouts and street children called the "The Service Program Of You May Not Stop From School" (Poltabes). This program is followed up with education at a distance school (Filial) for street children and school dropouts in Palembang Learning Activity Center. The method used was qualitative research. The research was conducted at a filial school for street children and dropouts in Palembang city. Data collection in the study was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study consisted of one tutor each, a companion teacher, a party from the Education Office, and students. The study found that the fulfillment of the right to education for street children and dropouts through the Filial school program at Palembang Learning Activity Center has been going well. Until the end of the 2020/2021 academic year, the implementation of this filial school program has had an impact, including: 1) 7 elementary school students, 42 junior high school students, and 44 high school students, with a total of 93 students have completed formal education; 2) street children or dropouts who attend filial school education show a change in behavior and actions in a positive direction, both in attitude and appearance; 3) a decrease in the dropout rate in the city of Palembang, which was initially 1,278 cases reduced to 491 cases; 4) support the increase in the average length of schooling which was initially 10.37% to 10.52%; 5) support the increase in the human development index from 77.89% to 78.44%; 6) This Poltabes innovation is in line with and contributes to the achievement of The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the education sector.

Abstract

This study evaluated the implementation of integrated character education in elementary schools in the city of Palembang and measure the achievement of the results. The implementation of integrated character education in several cities in Indonesia has not shown encouraging results. This study is a survey method, conducted at 20 elementary schools in Palembang with descriptive statistics, frequency distribution, and histogram. Data collection techniques were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, checklists, and questionnaires. The results showed that the implementation of integrated character education in elementary schools has not been encouraging. Empirical evaluative findings show that in the fifth grade the highest percentage is 36.33% and in the sixth grade, 30.33% of the 600 elementary school students in the city of Palembang studied still in the Good enough category. The presence and role of classroom teachers who are specifically entrusted with the role of the transmitter of character education or heart education are sometimes overwhelmed and the role of guidance and counseling teachers at the elementary school level is not very visible or even not involved at all, as seen in most elementary schools in Indonesia. This paper recommend to provide hours of classical tutoring services.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze publication trends, conceptual network structures, and key theme clusters in adaptive learning and learning style research in the Social Sciences field from 2016 to 2025 using a bibliometric approach. Data were obtained from the Scopus database using VOSviewer software and OpenRefine for visualization and analysis. The results show a significant upward trend in publications, particularly in 2020–2024, with a peak of 78 documents in 2024, triggered by the digital transformation of education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conceptual network structure reveals learning style as a central node connecting various research domains, with a temporal evolution from a descriptive-theoretical to an implementative-technological paradigm. Cluster analysis identified eight main themes dominated by psychological-individual aspects (21 items), adaptive-personalization systems (20 items), learning technology (19 items), and AI-based management (17 items). These findings confirm that adaptive learning and learning style research have evolved from conceptual exploration to intelligent technology implementation, with learning style as the main foundation. This study contributes by mapping the evolution of the theme and identifying potential areas for future research, particularly in AI-based learning personalization.

Abstract

This study analyzes the narratives of women’s resilience in disaster from the post-colonial feminism approach. Ecological justice and gender issues have been addressed by other studies on Indonesia to amplify the voices of Indonesian women, but few of them focus on women’s narratives. As a culture relying on oral traditions, Indonesian women’s narratives and stories are instrumental in decolonizing the knowledge on ecological justice. Even though feminist perspectives play an instrumental role in addressing ecological justice in Indonesia, studies using post-colonial feminism remain very limited. This study employs post-colonial feminist ethnography and focuses on three watershed areas in Bengkulu, Indonesia: Rindu Hati village representing rural upstream location; Talang Empat village representing rural midstream region, and Tanjung Jaya village representing downstream urban areas. Interviews were conducted with women who are members of peasant groups, agricultural workers, traders, village administrators, and other community members. The narratives show several important trends: (a) Women’s daily live reflects their knowledge about the environment and women’s responses to disaster and climate change indicating local eco-consciousness, resilience, and adaptation to changes. (b) Local power configuration contributes to resilience. There are interconnections of gender relations, disaster resilience, and environmental sustainability. Local power map shows the interconnection between disaster responses, environmental sustainability and gender relations in the community. (c) Upstream population tends to have higher commitment to environmental conservation and disaster resilience compared to the communities in the midstream and downstream locations. Women’s position in the circle of power in watershed management has important influence in their resilience facing disaster and climate change. These narratives inform the interrelations of women’s positions, disaster resilience, and eco-consciousness in creating ecological justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse postgraduate students' learning style preferences based on the VARK model. The study used a quantitative, descriptive survey design. The population in this study comprised all 95 active students in the Postgraduate Program in Educational Administration, and a sample of 72 respondents was selected using purposive random sampling, with a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through a 16-item questionnaire. The data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics, such as percentages and category distributions, to describe the tendencies of students' learning styles, whether unimodal (V, A, R, or K), bimodal (VA, VR, VK, AR, AK, and RK), trimodal (VAR, VAK, VRK, and ARK), or quadmodal (VARK). The results of the study indicate that graduate students predominantly prefer multimodal learning styles, particularly quadmodal (VARK), with 47.22% selecting this style. Multimodal, flexible postgraduate learning strategies accommodate the diversity of student learning preferences and enhance the quality and effectiveness of the learning process. An inclusive, multimodal postgraduate learning approach is conceptually important for accommodating the diversity of student learning preferences.
