Abstract

Many students struggle with reading, and their skills have declined significantly due to learning loss observed in schools. Students find it difficult to comprehend text, lose focus, and show decreased motivation. Meanwhile, reading skills are crucial for students as they serve as the foundation of 21st-century competencies and support learning across all subjects. This condition demands learning innovations that not only train reading speed but also enhance motivation through interactive approaches. The objectives of study are : (1) to develop a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with gamification for improving the speed reading skills of fifth-grade elementary students in the from of a teacher’s guidebook that is feasible for used, and (2) to test the validity of the model. The research employed a Research and Development (RD) method using the ADDIE model and was conducted at SDN 1 Gading Kembar, SDN 3 Asrikaton, and SDN 3 Saptorenggo. Research instruments included expert validation, implementation observation, students' response questionnaires, and speed reading tests. The results showed that expert validation reached 87.25% (very valid), model implementation achieved 93% (vary practical), and effectiveness was indicated by an increase in reading speed from 121 words per minute (wpm) to 185 wpm with an N-Gain of 0.52 (moderated).The study concludes that the gamified PBL model is effective in improving both students’ speed reading skills and their motivation. This is supported by gamification elements (points, levels, challenges, leaderboards) and the PBL syntax, which foster collaboration, problem-solving, and active learning engagement.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi pengajar dan calon pengajar BIPA dalam memanfaatkan kecerdasan buatan (AI) untuk pengembangan media pembelajaran. Pelatihan diikuti oleh 32 peserta dan dilaksanakan melalui empat tahap: persiapan, lokakarya, pendampingan intensif, serta evaluasi. Peserta dikenalkan pada konsep AI, etika penggunaannya, dan praktik pembuatan media interaktif menggunakan aplikasi seperti Veed.IO, Plotagon, Adobe Express AI, Renderforest, Gemini, dan Invideo.ai. Produk yang dihasilkan meliputi video, animasi kosa kata, dan presentasi multimedia yang mendukung pengajaran BIPA. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan skor rata-rata kebermanfaatan sebesar 87, kemudahan penggunaan 83, dan niat untuk menggunakan AI 83, yang mengindikasikan penerimaan positif terhadap teknologi ini. Umpan balik peserta juga menyoroti peningkatan literasi digital, kreativitas, dan kesadaran etis dalam penggunaan AI, dengan penekanan pada pentingnya menjaga keseimbangan antara inovasi teknologi dan nilai budaya. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pelatihan berbasis praktik dan pendampingan efektif dalam mendorong integrasi AI secara berkelanjutan dalam pembelajaran BIPA, sekaligus memperkuat kemampuan guru dalam menyajikan materi yang menarik, interaktif, dan bermakna bagi penutur asing.

Abstract

Kesalahan berbahasa merupakan penyimpangan pada penggunaan bahasa baik dari segi tulisan maupun ujaran. Fokus penelitian ini mendeskripsikan pola kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia pada pelafalan kata, pembentukan kata, dan penyusunan kalimat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik observasi dalam mengumpulkan data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia yang terjadi pada Tomohiro Yamashita merupakan peristiwa yang pasti terjadi ketika seorang pelajar bahasa pertama kali mempelajari bahasa baru. Kesalahan berbahasa ini menandakan bahwa Tomohiro Yamashita berada dalam fase peralihan bahasa Jepang ke bahasa Indonesia. Kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia pada pelafalan kata ditemukan sebanyak tiga kategori yaitu: (a) perubahan fonem, (b) penghilangan fonem dan (c) penambahan fonem. Kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia pada pembentukan kata ditemukan sebanyak empat kategori yaitu: (a) penghilangan afiks , (b) penggunaan afiks yang tidak tepat, (c) pergantian morf, dan (d) penyingkatan morf. Kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia pada penyusunan kalimat ditemukan dalam pembentukan frasa dan dalam penyusunan kalimat. Penyebab kesalahan berbahasa yang dilakukan oleh Tomohiro Yamashita adalah pengaruh bahasa pertama dan masa belajar yang singkat.

Abstract

Story writing materials grounded in Bugis cultural values. The research addresses students' difficulties in idea formulation, plot development, diction, and lack of confidence in writing short stories, compounded by limited relevant textbooks. The study aims to describe teachers' concrete needs, strategies for integrating cultural content, and to formulate guidelines for developing contextual and relevant teaching materials. Using a qualitative method with interviews involving three Indonesian language teachers in South Sulawesi, data were analyzed thematically to uncover their views and experiences. The findings highlight four key areas: (1) student difficulties in short story writing; (2) textbook limitations; (3) the potential of utilizing Bugis culture as a contextual and relevant element in teaching materials; and (4) the urgency of leveraging digital technology as a learning support tool. These findings affirm that teachers respond positively to integrating Bugis cultural values and digital technology into short story writing instruction. This integration can enrich content, strengthen student character, and make learning more relevant to students' daily lives. Thus, this research contributes to the development of contextual teaching materials that appreciate local wisdom, emphasizing the urgency of a culture-based approach in Indonesian language learning. However, this study is limited by the number of participants and requires further comprehensive material development, validation, and field testing.

Abstract

Lesson study is a classroom learning system in which several teachers collaboratively plan, teach, observe, revise, and deliver the output from one class. Regarding the lesson study implementation, teachers wisely explore how students learn, think, and change their behavior as an outcome of learning. Lesson Study implementation may lead to teaching improvement as teachers become more knowledgeable on how their students learn and think as well as how the instruction affects their students’ thinking. During the lesson design phase, teachers exchange ideas about how students might react to each part of the lesson. This paper presents a series of codes theoretically based on systematic documentation from teachers’ various learning and change aspects (knowledge and beliefs, professional learning communities, resources) in the cross-context lesson studies. Following the lesson observation research, teachers critically analyze collected data regarding the students learning and draw evidence-based implications to improve teaching instruction. This paper describes the influence of Lesson Study as an attempt to improve third-grade students’ writing skills. Data are collected through observation, interview, field notes, and direct practice. The implementation results of the Lesson Study for the third-grade students from February 2nd to March 7th, 2023, indicate that writing enhancement with capital capability increased to 12.68%, the use of punctuation was 21.43%, and the formation of simple patterned sentences was 1,12%. Nevertheless, the use of standard vocabulary decreased to 0.39%. Meanwhile, the observations during the process indicate the overall data of Lesson Study implementation as an attempt to increase students’ writing skills at 3.11%. The learning process that explores students' learning potential in improving their writing skills implies a positive result in their progress. Habit and practice on an ongoing basis can improve students' writing skills.

Abstract

Learning Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) is closely related to cultural learning. Language acquisition requires not only fluency, but also an understanding of its cultural context. However, introducing culture to BIPA learners, especially through traditional media, such as images or textbooks, can make learning less effective and interesting. This study aimed to develop virtual reality (VR)-based learning media to introduce local Malang culture to foreign speakers. This study used the four-stage development method designed by Thiagarajan. Four stages are defined: design, development, and dissemination. The VR media were validated by BIPA experts and tested on seven learners from China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Yemen. The product trial results show that the visual and audio quality received a score of (81.6), ease of use (80), VR's ability to provide a realistic experience of Malang cultural life (84), VR's ability to increase interest in learning Indonesian culture (85), VR's ability to increase cultural knowledge (82.5), suitability to needs (81.2), and VR's effectiveness as a cultural learning medium (82.5). This study confirms that VR is an engaging and effective tool for introducing local culture to BIPA students in line with their needs and expectations, especially those who are familiar with immersive technology.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyimpangan bahasa yang dilakukan murid kepada gurunya di sekolah dasar. Kajian ini menerapkan metode kualitatif. Data penelitian yang digunakan berupa tuturan antara murid kepada guru di kelas VI berupa pelanggaran maksim ketidaksopanan di SDI Mabdaul Falah. Adapun tahapan-tahapan pengumpulan data sebagai berikut: (1) mengumpulkan data yang sesuai (2) mereduksi data yang relevan (3) menyajikan data (4) menarik kesimpulan. Penelitian ini memastikan analisis dilakukan secara menyeluruh dan relevan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan enam temuan maksim yaitu: (1) kebijaksanaan (2) kedermawanan (3) penghargaan (4) kesederhanaan (5) permufakatan (6) kesimpatisan. Peneliti mengklasifikasi dan menyaring dalam setiap maksim ada dua contoh data serta pemaparannya. Jadi, total peneliti memperoleh sebanyak 12 data dari 6 maksim.Berdasarkan permasalahan yang telah dikaji. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi penting dalam dunia pendidikan, khususnya dalam pembentukan karakter dan etika berbahasa murid di sekolah dasar. Ditemukannya pelanggaran terhadap enam maksim kesantunan menunjukkan perlunya perhatian lebih dari guru, orang tua, dan pembuat kebijakan pendidikan terhadap pembelajaran etika komunikasi sejak dini.
