Abstract

The corrosion inhibition efficiency of copper was tested by the weight loss method in 1 M H2SO4 medium in the presence of pinostrobin as inhibitor. It shows that the addition of pinostrobin inhibitor reduce the corrosion rate. The nature of thermodynamic of pinostrobin adsorption on copper surfaces follows the Freundlich isotherm. The process of inhibition is endothermic, spontaneous and physisorption. It is proved by the Ea, ΔH and ΔS and ΔG values in which the thermodynamic studies show that the values of Ea < 80 kJ.mol-1, ∆H positive, ∆S positive, and ΔG < -20 kJ.mol-1.

Abstract

The corrosion inhibition performance of benzimidazole and its derivatives have been studied by density functional theory DFT in aqueous medium. For this investigation, the corrosion inhibition efficiencies of the protonated and non-protonated spesies of benzimidazole and its derivatives were investigated. The ionization potential of the inhibitors has a strong influence on the efficiency of corrosion inhibitors. The linear correlation was shown between electronic properties and corrosion inhibition efficiency. Electron donating substituents increase the corrosion inhibition efficiency, whereas electron withdrawing substituents give the opposite effect. The NH2 substituent contributes highest, whereas NO2 provides the weakest contribution to the corrosion inhibition efficiency for both non-protonated and protonated species of inhibitors.

Abstract

The compounds, [UO2(dibenzo-18-crown-6)]2+ and [UO2(18-crown-6)]2+, as well as their related complexes: numerous disubstituted dibenzo-18-crown-6 and azacrown complexes are studied using density functional theory (DFT). Quasi-relativistic effective core potentials developed in the Stuttgart and Dresden groups was used together with the accompanying basis set for uranium and DZP basis set was used for crown ether atoms. The effects of substituent and nitrogen number on the binding selectivity were discussed in term of the structural parameter, atomic charge and interaction energy, thermodynamic parameters, and charge transfer. The electron donating substituents increase the capability of dibenzo-18-crown-6 toward UO22+ ion. In contrast, the electron withdrawing substituents have the opposite effect. It clearly shows that UO22+ prefers N donor recognition. For the systems involved, the result shows that the hexaaza-18-crown-6 exhibits the largest metal interaction capability to UO22+ ion. The calculated results are in a good agreement with the experimental values.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a quantum physics learning device with a blended learning model to improve the critical thinking and generic science skills of students. The learning device is made with a 4D development model which includes four steps, namely: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The learning tools developed to consist of semester program plans (SPP), student activity sheets (SAS), quantum physics teaching materials, instruments to measure critical thinking skills, and generic science skills of students. The validity results show that the quantum physics learning device with the blended learning model has an average value of more than 4.20. This shows that the learning tools are very feasible to improve the critical thinking and generic science skills of students.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate an electronic student worksheets product based on discovery learning that valid and reliable on thermochemical topic. The development of electronic student worksheets-based on discovery learning follows the steps of the 4D development model, namely define, design, develop, disseminate. The feasibility test of the developed learning device was analyzed using a validation sheet. The assessment of the feasibility of the learning tools developed was carried out by three expert validators who are competent in the field of education at the University of Mataram. Criticisms and suggestions given by the validator are used as improvements to the developed electronic student worksheets. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive percentage techniques, Aiken's V index, and percentage of agreement. The validation results show that the developed electronic student worksheets component is included in the valid category with an average validity value of 0.79. The results of the agreement between validators showed that the developed electronic student worksheetshad a percentage of more than 75% which was included in the reliable category. Based on the results of the validation and reliability tests, the electronic student worksheets based on discovery learning developed can be concluded to be valid and reliable. A more complete and detailed explanation of the development of electronic student worksheets based on discovery learning and validation results is presented in this article.

Abstract

The explosive sensitivity upon the formation of supramolecular interaction between the nitro group of 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (NTO) and metal ions (Mn+ = Li+, Na+, Be2+ and Mg2+) has been investigated using Density Functional Theory at B3LYP/6-311++G** level of theory. The bond dissociation energy (BDE) of the C1–N6 trigger bond has also been discussed for the NTO monomer and the corresponding complexes. The interaction and bond dissociation energy of the C6–N7 trigger bond follow the order of NTO-Be2+ > NTO-Mg2+ > NTO-Li+ > NTO-Na+ > NTO monomer. The enhancement of the trigger bond dissociation energy in comparison with the NTO monomer correlates well with the complex interaction energies, trigger bond length, and charge transfer. The analyses of electron density shifts have shown that the electron density of the nitro group shifts toward the C1–N6 trigger bond upon the formation of the supramolecular interaction. As result, the trigger bond is strengthened and the sensitivity of NTO is reduced. Some of the calculated results agree with the experimental values.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat mengetahui minat belajar kimia siswa menggunakan media pembelajaran PhET Simulations selama masa pandemi COVID-19. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian dalam ini adalah siswa kelas XII IPA SMAN 2 Selong yang terbagi menjadi 5 kelas. Sedangkan sampelnya adalah 68 siswa yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data diambil melalui angket minat belajar siswa menggunakan media PhET Simulations yang terdiri dari 4 indikator penilaian, yaitu: 1) perasaan senang; 2) ketertarikan; 3) perhatian; 4) keterlibatan. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan model Rasch (Analisis Peta Wright dan Measure DIF) dan uji statistik deskriptif. Hasil analisis peta wright menunjukkan nilai abilitas siswa yang tinggi. Kurva measure DIF menunjukkan perbedaan minat belajar kimia siswa berdasarkan gender. Siswa laki-laki memiliki minat belajar kimia yang lebih tinggi daripada siswa perempuan. Hasil ini didukung dengan perhitungan menggunakan uji persentase, persentase minat belajar laki-laki sebesar 81,55% dan perempuan sebesar 78,46%. Hasil penelitian diukur menggunakan uji persentase dengan rata-rata persentase sebesar 79,60% dalam kategori baik. Rata-rata hasil uji persentase tiap indikator yaitu 1) indikator perasaan senang sebesar 83%; 2) indikator ketertarikan sebesar 76%; 3) indikator perhatian sebesar 80%; 4) indikator keterlibatan sebesar 81%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa media PhET Simulations ini baik digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran berbasis laboratorium virtual untuk meningkatkan minat belajar selama masa pandemi COVID-19.

Abstract

Kesuksesan mahasiswa dalam memperoleh hasil belajar kimia yang maksimal dapat dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan spasial yang mereka miliki. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) bagaimana kemampuan spasial mahasiswa, (2) bagaimana hasil belajar kimia mahasiswa, serta (3) adakah hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kemampuan spasial terhadap hasil belajar kimia mahasiswa, jika ada seberapa besar hubungannya. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester empat Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia Universitas Mataram tahun akademik 2021/2022 yang berjumlah 68 mahasiswa dan diambil sebanyak 58 mahasiswa sebagai sampel menggunakan teknik Simple Random Sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik tes dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif dan inferensial, dimana hipotesis penelitian diuji menggunakan analisis bivariat dan regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) kemampuan spasial mahasiswa berada pada kategori sangat rendah, (2) hasil belajar kimia mahasiswa berada pada kategori cukup, serta (3) terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kemampuan spasial terhadap hasil belajar kimia mahasiswa dengan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,391 dan tingkat hubungan dalam kategori rendah.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to create an E-worksheet product based on discovery learning that will help students improve their decision-making skills and scientific attitudes. This E-worksheet was created using the 4D development methodology, which includes the processes of define, design, develop, and disseminate. Students in class XI science SMAN 6 Mataram served as test subjects for this study. The limited trial is taught in one lesson, while the wide trial is taught in two classes. The ANCOVA test, descriptive percentage techniques, and percentage of agreement were used to analyze the data. The practicality data analysis revealed that teachers and students responded with a percentage of 80 and 86.42 percent, respectively, showing that the E-worksheet evolved in the practical category. The results of the effectiveness test using the ANCOVA test obtained Fcount > Ftable (8.28 > 3.98) on decision-making skills and Fcount > Ftable (6.94 > 3.98) on scientific attitude with a significant level of 5%. The null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, which means that E-worksheet influences discovery learning to improve students' decision-making skills and scientific attitudes in grade-eleventh science students. The E-worksheet based on discovery learning is practical and successful for enhancing students' decision-making skills and scientific attitudes toward grade-eleventh science students, according to the research objectives and findings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content of the magnetic mineral compound of natural iron sand on the beach of Lombok Island. This study uses the experimental method by taking primary data which is carried out in three locations, namely at Ijobalit Beach (East Lombok), Cemara Beach (West Lombok), and Telindung Beach (East Lombok). The study stage begins with a separation of natural iron sand, then a magnetic mineral separation is carried out to obtain Fe3O4 powder. The last stage is testing the Fe content using AAS (atomic absorption spectrophotometry). The research results were obtained by the percentage of magnetic mineral content from Ijobalit beach sand, Cemara Beach, and Telindung Beach respectively 93.56, 72.99, and 87.00%. The results showed that natural iron sand from Ijobalit beach had great potential to be used as a basic material for making microwave absorbers.
