Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana pertukaran sosial yang terjadi antara pengedar dan pemakai di Nagari Kubang Putiah Kabupaten Agam. Penelitian ini menarik untuk dikaji karena hubungan antara pengedar dan pemakai tidak hanya sebatas transaksi jual beli narkoba, tetapi juga melibatkan pola pertukaran sosial yang lebih kompleks. Penelitian ini memiliki keunikan karena mengkaji bagaimana interaksi yang terjadi antara pengedar dan pemakai dalam transaksi narkoba yang jarang diteliti sebelumnya. Untuk menjelaskan permasalahan penelitian ini teori yang digunakan adalah teori pertukaran sosial dari George C. Homans. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tipe studi kasus. Teknik pemilihan informan dilakukan dengan cara snowball dengan informan kunci yaitu pemakai beriniasal RM (27 tahun) dan jumlah informan sebanyak 15 orang yang terdiri dari 2 orang pengedar narkoba dan 13 orang pemakai narkoba. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumen. Data dianalisis dengan teknik analisis Mattew Milles dan Huberman dengan proses reduksi data, penyajian data dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 4 bentuk pertukaran sosial yang terjadi antara pengedar dan pemakai narkoba di Nagari Kubang Putiah Kabupaten Agam, yaitu (1) pertukaran barang untuk kepuasan dan keuntungan, (2) pertukaran jasa, (3) pertukaran informasi, (4) pertukaran kepercayaan. Maka dari itu penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pola hubungan antara pengedar dan pemakai narkoba berlangsung karena adanya pertimbangan rasional untung–rugi yang dilakukan oleh kedua belah pihak.

Abstract

Student brawls represent a persistent form of youth violence in Indonesian vocational schools, particularly in Padang City, where conventional punitive approaches have failed to address underlying causes. This study examines the implementation of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in managing student conflict. Using a qualitative case study design across three vocational schools, data were collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis involving multiple stakeholders. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael Huberman, supported by NVivo coding procedures. The findings indicate that student brawls are shaped by the interaction of internal factors (emotional instability, self-recognition, and school prestige) and external factors (peer influence, family environment, senior and alumni roles, and social media). The study also identifies patterned characteristics of violence, including premeditation, strategic timing and location, intergenerational transmission, and the use of sharp weapons. ADR practices—such as mediation, dialogue, and restorative engagement—demonstrate effectiveness in reducing conflict intensity, restoring communication, and preventing recurrence. From a theoretical perspective, the findings are explained through Edwin Sutherland’s Differential Association Theory, which emphasizes that deviant behavior is learned through social interaction, including the transmission of motives, techniques, and rationalizations. The persistence of student brawls reflects the dominance of definitions favorable to violence within peer networks. This study concludes that ADR offers a more sustainable and humanistic approach by addressing the social learning processes underlying student violence, rather than relying solely on punitive control.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how school climate functions in maintaining social harmony amid diversity at SDN 32 Muaro Putuih through the lens of structural functionalism, particularly Talcott Parsons’ AGIL framework (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency). The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design to explore school climate as a lived social reality experienced by school members. Data were collected through non-participant observation, in-depth semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving school principals, teachers, students, parents, and community members. The validity of the data was ensured through source and time triangulation, while data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that school climate functions as a social system that fulfills AGIL requirements: (1) adaptation is reflected in inclusive practices accommodating religious, ethnic, and linguistic diversity; (2) goal attainment is shown through the shared commitment to sustaining social harmony; (3) integration is achieved through mutual trust, respect, and effective communication among school members; and (4) latency (pattern maintenance) is maintained through the continuous internalization of tolerance, empathy, and social care in everyday interactions. A positive relational school climate characterized by inclusive interactions and strong school–parent communication plays a crucial role in sustaining harmony. Diversity does not lead to conflict but is managed through daily social practices grounded in shared values and supportive leadership. These findings suggest that school climate, as a socially constructed system, significantly contributes to fostering inclusive and harmonious relationships in diverse educational settings while simultaneously demonstrating the functional operation of AGIL in maintaining social order.
