Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims to determine the effect of spacing gap peeler and the shaft speed variations on the quality of the stripping of coffee beans machine and determine the size of the gap distance peeler and shaft rotation is right, in order to obtain good quality stripping the peeler machine coffee beans.This research used an experimental method, by comparison paring gap distance is 2 mm,      5 mm and 7 mm in shaft speed of 420 rpm, 480 rpm and 560 rpm on the quality of the coffee bean machine. Stripping quality at every distance gap peeler and shaft rotation will be analyzed and determined based on the category of quality of coffee beans that have been processed. The results showed that the percentage of quality stripping was at a distance of 2 mm and the gap paring shaft speed of 420 rpm at 68%, a distance of 5 mm gap reached 48%, and at a distance of 7 mm gap reached 15%. At a distance of 2 mm and the gap paring shaft speed of 480 rpm reached 66%, a distance of 5 mm gap reached 42%, and at a distance of 7 mm gap peak at 14%. At a distance of 2 mm and the gap paring shaft speed of 560 rpm at 63%,  a distance of 5 mm gap reached 35%, and at a distance of 7 mm gap reached 12%. Distance gap peeler and a round shaft right in getting at a distance of 2 mm and the gap paring shaft speed of 420 rpm. At this distance the percentage of skin quality coffee beans chipped well reach 68%, 27% partially peeled off, and does not peel off 5%. Key words: Skinner coffee beans, slit spacing, rotation variation, quality. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengaturan jarak celah pengupas dan variasi putaran poros terhadap kualitas pengupasan pada mesin pengupas kulit biji kopi dan menentukan ukuran jarak celah pengupas dan putaran poros yang tepat, guna mendapatkan kualitas pengupasan yang baik pada mesin pengupas kulit biji kopi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen, dengan melakukan perbandingan jarak celah pengupas yaitu 2 mm, 5 mm, dan 7 mm pada putaran poros 420 rpm, 480 rpm, dan 560 rpm terhadap kualitas pengupasan pada mesin pengupas kulit biji kopi. Kualitas pengupasan pada setiap jarak celah pengupas dan putaran poros tersebut akan dianalisa dan ditentukan berdasarkan kategori kualitas dari biji kopi yang telah diolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, persentase kualitas pengupasan pada jarak celah pengupas 2 mm dan putaran poros 420 rpm mencapai 68%, jarak celah 5 mm mencapai   48%, dan pada jarak celah 7 mm mencapai 15%. Pada jarak celah pengupas 2 mm dan putaran poros 480 rpm mencapai 66%, jarak celah 5 mm mencapai 42%, dan pada jarak celah 7 mm mencapai 14%. Pada jarak celah pengupas 2 mm dan putaran poros 560 rpm mencapai 63%, jarak celah 5 mm mencapai 35%, dan pada jarak celah 7 mm mencapai 12%. Jarak celah pengupas dan putaran poros yang tepat didapatkan pada jarak celah pengupas 2 mm dan  putaran poros 420 rpm. Pada jarak ini persentase kualitas kulit biji kopi terkelupas dengan baik mencapai 68%, terkelupas sebagian 27%, dan tidak terkelupas 5%. Kata kunci : Pengupas kulit biji kopi, jarak celah, variasi putaran, kualitas

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the strength of pineapple forest leaf fiber with NaOH treatment.Thisresearch material used of forest pineapple fiber. The treatment of the specimen was carried by immersionwith 5% NaOH solution, sun and air, respectively for 2 hours. The specimen test was made based on ASTMD 3379-75 standard for tensile test specimens.NaOH tretment effect on tensile strength of peneaple forestleaf fiber. The test result showed that the highest tensile test value was found on the specimen with NaOHtreatment of 78.17403 N/mm2. Whose tensile strength tends inncrease after experiencing alkali treatment(NaOH). Tretment of air and sun less influence of tensile strength of peneapple leaf fiber. Then value oftensile test of sunlight pineapple forest 71.20283 N/mm2 and the value of tensile test of pineapple leaves forair treatment forest of 43.84033 N/mm2.Keywords : Forest pineapple leaf fiber, NaOH and tensile strength.

Abstract

Noise is one of urban people everyday life challenge as many world societies have to encounter. Thus noise reduction material is highly required.This research aims to contain the suitable mixture of composite brick made of faba, cement, and sand for noise reduction furthermore this research also aim to understand and analyze composite brick made of faba (fly ash and bottom ash)in noise reduction towards frequency of 1200 Hz, 1300 Hz, 1400 Hz, 1500 Hz and 1600 Hz. This experiment developed through three variants of different composition which used faba, cement, and sand material. The experiment result exhibit that in the material of volume fraction 10:30:60% on specimen 1 obtained the highest coefficient value of absorptive sound 0.34104 dB with frequency of 1600 Hz and the lowest coefficient value of absorptive sound 0.14721 dB in volume fraction 20:30:50% with frequency of 1200 Hz, on specimen 5. The higher of absorptive sound coefficient value impacted to the more excellent quality of noise reduction material. Keywords: Cement, sand, faba, noise absorption coefficient.

Abstract

To save on coal consumption in PLTU (Steam Power Plant), it is necessary to increase boiler efficiency. The factors that can affect boiler efficiency include: flue gas temperature, fuel specification, excess air, ambient temperature, radiation and convection losses. By changing the value of excess air in this case the percentage of oxygen (4% to 4.5%) will affect the efficiency of the boiler. Changing the value of excess air also results in a change in the electrical power used by the auxiliary system in the boiler. Calculation of boiler efficiency with the direct method by testing 2 times on each oxygen percentage value of 4% and 4.5. Efficiency increased 0.94%, from 80.76% to 81.7% in test 1 and increased 1.02%, from 90.81% to 91.83% in test II. The power usage increased by 27.959 Kw in the 1st test and increased to 26.663 Kw in the test II.Kata kunci: Boiler, efficiency, excess air, PLTU

Abstract

The rapid development of a variety of disciplines to encourage the advance of civilization of human life. Use elbow in the system design perpipan causing a loss of pressure in the flow. It because by a change in direction of fluid flow through the channel. The pressure drop (pressure drop) to flow past the elbow is greater compared with a straight pipe of the same length. The size of the drop in pressure (pressure drop) to flow through the elbow is affected by the magnitude of the radius of curvature and angle of the bend of the elbow itself that caused the separation (separation loss) and secondary school (secondary flow) on the elbow 900. From the results of this study concluded that the pressure distribution at Re 8.1737 x104 is smaller than Re 10, 1467 x104, while pressure on Losses Re 8.1737 x104 is smaller than Re 10.1467 x104. Keywords: Distribution analysis, air pressure, and elbow 900.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of cross-sectional area of copper and zinc to the brinegenerated power as an alternative energy source.Equipment and materials was used in this studywere theAVO meter, pliers, meter, measuring cups, wells water, salt, copper plate, zinc plate, cables and glass. Theprocedures of this study were to prepare tools and materials, then making an electrochemical cell as much as10 cell container of water and salt using glass, making the series circuit plate of copper and zinc, making asolution of water and salt, then test the salt water as an alternative energy source using AVO meter, Theparameters measured in this study were a big potential and strong electric currents are able to produce brinewith a variety of cross-sectional area of copper and zinc 7 cm2;7 cm2, 7 cm2; 14 cm2, 7 cm2; 21 cm2 and 14cm2; 7 cm2, 14 cm2; 14 cm2, 14 cm2; 21 cm2 and 21 cm2; 7 cm2, 21 cm2; 14 cm2, 21 cm2; 21 cm2. In brinetesting, into energi source, a large power was found on 21 cm2 of 0,899 W elektrode while to increase thepotential value of electric can be done by increasing the number of cells.Keywords: Water, salt, electrochemical cells, alternative energy .

Abstract

This study aims to examine Pelton Turbines for Micro Hydro Power Plant Systems (PLTMH) with pressure variations and spray nozzle distances to output power in pelton turbine installations, in pressure variations namely pressure 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 bar and variations the spray nozzle distance is 6, 9 and 12 cm. The tested turbine has a single nozzle, with a nozzle diameter of d = 10 mm, the number of blades Z = 14 pieces and a diameter of a turbine of 14 cm. The research began with the design, manufacturer of Pelton turbine installations and electrical installations. The parameters measured in the test are flowrate, pressure on the nozzle, turbine rotation, electric voltage and current, temperature and diameter of the working fluid. The results obtained the highest output power at a spray distance of 6 cm Nozzle and 2.5 bar pressure of 110.14 Watts with 88.11% Turbine Efficiency while the lowest Output power was obtained at a spray distance of 12 cm and a pressure of 0.5 bar of 17.07 Watts with a Turbine Efficiency of 51.2%.Keywords: Pelton Turbine, Output Power, Turbine Efficiency, Pressure Variation and Nozzle Spraydistance.

Abstract

Pada sistem refrigrasi dan tata udara, belakangan ini telah dikenal teknologi pendinginan atau pemanasan termoelektrik. Termoelektrik merupakan sumber alternatif utama dalam menjawab kebutuhan energi tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk merancang sebuah alat box pendingin mini yang menggunakan alat portabel yang tersusun dari kipas, heatsink dan elemen peltier. mengetahui prinsip kerja dari sistem pendingin serta penurunan temperatur ruang pendingin yang dihasilkan oleh elemen peltier dan mengetahui pengaruh variasi laju aliran pada pipa kapiler terhadap perubahan temperature didalam box pendingin thermoelektrik. Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk merancang dan menguji pendingin thermoelektrik dengan variasi input daya pada pompa untuk beban 150 gr buah jeruk. Hasil pengujian diperoleh besarnya kalor yang diserap sebesar 0,1524 Watt dari jumlah panas total sebesar 3,165 watt. Pada saat pemberian daya listrik pada pompa sebesar 9 W selama 45 menit, temperatur dalam box adalah 22 oC dari suhu awal 31 oC.. Termoelektrik yang digunakan adalah TEC 1-12706 yang mampu mencapai temperatur 5ºC. Accumulator yang digunakan pada sistem menggunakan accumulator merek GS 12V 70 Ah. Hasil pengujian ini menyimpulkan bahwa temperatur dalam box turun 8ºC pada penggunaan daya listrik 9 W   Katakunci: kotak pendingin, termoelektrik, styrofoam

Abstract

A helmet drying machine is a device used to dry a helmet in a relatively short time. This helmet dryingmachine is divided into two parts namely: slicer/extortion machine and dryer. This slicer/squeezer machineserves to reduce the water content contained in the helmet up to 60-80%. In planning theoretically discussthe main components of the slicer transmission system on the helmet drying machine that determines: thediameter of pulley, the rotation ratio of the pulley, the shaft axis distance, the shaft diameter of the pulley II,and the bearing number. From the calculation results obtained as follows: 0.25 HP motor crusher power,electric motor rotation 1400 rpm, diameter pulley I 65 mm, diameter pulley II 130 mm, rotation ratio at 1:2pulleys, distance between the axis 251.32 mm axis, the diameter of the shaft on the pulley II 20 mm, and thenumber of open type 6004 bearings.Keywords: transmission system, pulleys and belts, shaft and bearing.

Abstract

Motorcycles are a popular means of transportation in most countries in Asia and developing countries including Indonesia. In the event that riding a motorcycle, the user must use a helmet to keep his head from collisions when accidents occur. The research aims to utilize palm fiber and fiber biocomposites as raw material for two-wheeled vehicle helmets. The composition of the fiber volume fraction is 40:60%, 50:50%, 60:40%, polyester resin matrix, and catalyst. The mixture is printed in the form of a biographic panel and formed an impact test specimen and hardness test. The results obtained that the highest impact strength value of 0.013 J/mm2 and the highest hardness value of 21.367 kg/mm2 in the fiber composition of 60:40%. The value of the lowest impact strength is 0.005 J/mm2, and the lowest hardness value is 16.523 kg/mm2 on the fiber composition 40:60%.
