Abstract

Abstract

Fraction is one of the difficult topic for students. One way to reduce students’ difficulties is to implement Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) by integrating Islamic values such as Sacrifice Worship (Ibadah Kurban). In addition, the use of technology to integrate sacrificial worship in fraction learning is also expected to increase students' interest in learning in the 21st century and can improve students' understanding. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an e-module for learning fractions through RME with the context of Sacrifice worship. The developed e-module contains learning trajectories, live worksheets, videos, and post-tests. This type of research is research and development which follows the stages of Plomp, especially in the prototyping and assessment stages. The instruments in this study were validation sheets. The validators consisted of one mathematics education lecturer and two Banda Aceh City junior high school teachers. Based on the validity test it was concluded that the e-module meets the valid criteria. The implication of this research is the development of e-modules needs to be continued to test practicality and effectiveness.

Abstract

Beliefs about Beliefs about the nature of mathematics can impact teachers' confidence in teaching math and their professional development. A study with 187 elementary school teachers in Banda Aceh showed that these beliefs have a significant direct effect on increasing beliefs about teaching math but only a minimal direct effect on improving teachers' professional character. Beliefs about teaching act as an indirect-only mediation variable between beliefs about the nature of mathematics and teacher characteristics, suggesting a high and significant indirect effect. Further research is needed to confirm these results

Abstract

[English]: Understanding students' difficulties in solving mathematics problems is crucial for effective teaching. This study aims to determine the ability of prospective mathematics teachers to analyze students' work in solving PISA problems and identify the types of assistance recommended to overcome students' difficulties. Using a descriptive qualitative design within a case study framework, the research subjects consisted of two prospective mathematics teachers from a university in Aceh, who had good knowledge in answering PISA problems. Data was collected through written tests, interview, and documentation of analysis results for student answers. This study was conducted in two stages: (1) the subjects analyzed, assessed, and recommended assistance for students' work, and (2) the researcher evaluated the results of the analysis and the appropriateness of the assistance proposed by the subjects. The findings indicate that varying Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) abilities of teachers can affect the accuracy of the analysis and the effectiveness of the recommended assistance. Subjects with high PCK can analyze students' work and suggest assistance appropriately. In contrast, subjects with low PCK only analyze and provide suggestions to overcome students' difficulties in general. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating content knowledge and pedagogy in preparing prospective teachers. Abstract

The limitations of mathematical communication skills and the lack of experience in applying mathematics to everyday life, including worship-related problems, result in poor mathematical communication skills and a lack of student independence. Applying E-modules in the context of zakat can be one solution to address this problem. This study aimed to examine whether the mathematical communication skills of students using an e-module with a zakat context on numbers were better than those of students not using the e-module. This quantitative study employed a posttest only control group design. The sample consisted of two classes from a junior high school in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, selected using a simple random sampling technique. The samples consisted of 65 students, divided into an experimental group of 33 students and a control group of 32 students. Data collection was conducted by administering a test of mathematical communication skills. The results show that the mathematical communication skills of students using the e-module with the zakat context were better than those of their counterparts. The interactive e-modules support student independence and develop students' mathematical communication skills. Further research should be conducted to support the development of more effective and user-friendly online learning platforms for mathematics learning.
