Abstract

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, making data-driven early detection crucial for supporting medical decision-making systems. A major challenge in developing heart disease prediction models is dataset quality, including the often imbalanced class distribution, which can impact the performance of classification algorithms. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) on the performance of three classification algorithms: Support Vector Classifier (SVC), Random Forest (RF), and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN). The dataset used is heart_disease50.csv with 4,001 patient data consisting of 21 predictor attributes and one target variable (heart disease status: “Yes” or “No”) with a relatively balanced class distribution. The research process includes data preprocessing (data cleaning, normalization, and encoding), data partitioning using Stratified K-Fold Cross Validation (k=5), applying SMOTE to training data, building a classification model, and evaluation using accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and AUC-ROC metrics. The results showed that applying SMOTE did not always improve performance. The SVC model with SMOTE experienced a decrease in accuracy (0.4819) compared to the one without SMOTE (0.5106), while Random Forest remained relatively stable with insignificant differences (0.4669 without SMOTE and 0.4644 with SMOTE). KNN with SMOTE emerged as the best model with an accuracy of 0.5268 and a precision of 0.5271, although the AUC-ROC remained the same as KNN without SMOTE (0.5135). Overall, these results confirm that the effectiveness of SMOTE is highly dependent on dataset conditions, and in cases with relatively balanced data, SMOTE does not provide significant benefits. Therefore, improving the performance of heart disease prediction classification is recommended through hyperparameter optimization strategies, relevant feature selection, or the use of more sophisticated algorithms such as Gradient Boosting or Neural Networks.

Abstract

Financial management in non-profit organizations, including churches, plays a strategic role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainability of services. The Pasundan Christian Church (GKP) has established the Interpretation of Financial Accounting Standards (ISAK) 335 as the primary guideline for preparing financial reports. However, initial implementation has shown significant obstacles, particularly related to limited understanding of accounting. The need for the GKP Synod administrators to provide a sound understanding of accounting concepts and practices within the synod environment prompted the implementation of community service in the form of accounting training. The objective of this activity was to provide a proper understanding of basic accounting concepts through the Role Play (RPL) method for GKP treasurers and finance secretariat staff. This Community Service (PkM) activity successfully improved understanding of basic accounting concepts through the application of the RPL method. These findings demonstrate that the RPL method is effective in improving accounting understanding, especially for participants with limited prior knowledge. The success of this training supports the GKP's need to implement a digital accounting system in accordance with ISAK 335, as improved accounting understanding among treasurers will simplify the recording process and produce more accurate and credible financial reports.

Abstract

This study maps public emotions in Indonesian-language tweets related to the 2025 UTBK announcement using multi-label emotion classification. The main challenges in multi-label emotion classification on social media include extreme label imbalance, distribution shift between training and application data, and weak lexical signals for specific emotions. This study aims to build a reliable emotion modeling framework for long-tail social media corpora while demonstrating generalizable post-training calibration practices. The novelty lies in the integration of four components: (1) per-label posterior calibration using Platt scaling, (2) precision-targeted per-label thresholding frozen from the development set, (3) score-quantile–based rate targeting to align predicted prevalence with domain-based rates, and (4) context-limited lexicon-aware boosting with a final clamp. The proposed pipeline is lightweight and model-agnostic. This research adopts a quantitative experimental approach by varying post-training calibration components to measure their impact on classification performance. An IndoBERTweet model is trained using BCEWithLogitsLoss on manually annotated data, then calibrated and evaluated on development and test sets. The results demonstrate balanced micro- and macro-level performance, improved detection of minority labels, and emotion mapping over 3,500 tweets with prevalence distributions consistent with Plutchik’s theory of emotions.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the impact of independent supervisory boards on CSR disclosure with board gender diversity as a moderating variable in Indonesia’s two-tier board system. Research Methodology: The sample in this study consists of 2,118 firm-year observations based on Indonesian-listed firms from 2017 to 2020. Multiple linear regression is used to estimate the models, and the generalized method of moments (GMM) method addresses endogeneity issues. Results: This study finds a positive correlation between independent supervisory boards and CSR disclosure, but board gender diversity does not significantly affect this relationship. Conclusions: Independent supervisory boards positively influence CSR disclosures in Indonesia’s two-tiered system. However, board gender diversity does not moderate this relationship, contributing new insights to CSR research in contrast to the one-tier systems in the US and Europe. Limitations: This study’s limitations include focusing on the quantity rather than the quality of CSR disclosures, manual data collection from firm reports, and reliance solely on a quantitative approach. Contributions: This study highlights the effectiveness of independent supervisory boards in CSR disclosure within Indonesia’s two-tier system and contrasts it with findings from one-tier systems in other countries.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the insufficient level of students’ cooperative skills in Pancasila Education at Class V UPT SDN 003 Muara Uwai, as reflected in weak communication, limited team contribution, and inadequate recognition of individual learning differences. To address this issue, the study implemented the team quiz learning model as an instructional strategy for improving students’ cooperative skills in learning the topic “My Country, Indonesia.” This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings and four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The study involved 10 Class V students, comprising five boys and five girls. Data were collected through observation and documentation. The findings show that students’ cooperative skills increased from 30% before the intervention to 50% in the first cycle and further improved to 80% in the second cycle. These results indicate that the team quiz learning model effectively enhances students’ cooperative skills in Pancasila Education. The study contributes to elementary education practice by demonstrating that interactive, team-based learning can strengthen students’ communication, participation, and collaborative responsibility in civic learning contexts.
